“Mr. Holden, there’s a call for you from Mr. Buckman.”

Kate glanced at her husband as he took the phone. “Conrad! It’s a beautiful day in the Caribbean.”

“I’m sure it is, son. I hate to do this, but I’m going to to cut your honeymoon short by a day. I need you back here.”

  “What’s the situation?”

“It seems a little lady got in trouble with some bad hombres south of the border. The feds think she is involved with the drug cartel and refuse to help, but her sister swears it’s not true. She has reason to believe the gal is being held against her will. And there may be a child involved.”

“Then we need to get on this right away.”

“I’ve already sent Clint Sheppard to talk to the sister. If he finds any merit to her story, you’ll need to coordinate your efforts to arrange the rescue.”

“Sounds good. I’ll see you tomorrow.”

Kate twisted her mouth into a playful pout as she watched her husband disconnect the call. “Sounds like we’re returning early?”

“There’s a new case brewing,” he nodded, squirming uncomfortably under her pointed gaze. “It’s only a day,” he added guiltily. “Do you mind?”

Kate smiled inwardly but maintained a stern expression. She had caught the excited gleam in Sam’s eyes when spoke with Conrad. She’d suspected something like this might happen before they ever left. A slow grin spread across her face as she watched Sam fidget.

“I suppose we’ll have to make the most of the time we have left,” she murmured provocatively, trailing her warm fingers against his thigh. His response was immediate as his groin swelled to her touch.

Sam pulled her to her feet, his eyes dark with hunger. “There’s not a minute to lose.”

He showered her face, neck and shoulder with a series of light, feathery kisses, pressing his erection against her before lifting his head and gazing lovingly at the woman in his arms.

“When I found you in the snow drift, I thought you were a fallen angel in need of mending.”

She brought her lips to within inches of his own. “I’m all mended now. Let me take you to heaven.”.
