Turn Me On
Page 9
Taking his cock in his hand, he stroked her clit with the head while never taking his eyes off her. Her eyes darkened with need.
“Robin, I can’t wait much longer.” His voice was deep, almost a growl, as he tried to hold control of his own need.
She opened her legs wider. With his hands on her thighs, in one motion he entered her fully. He pumped fast and hard, driving into her again and again. Nothing had ever felt so fucking good in his life. It was like…their bodies were made to be one.
“Yes! Sam! I… Oh God… yes…” Her hands were on his back pulling him to her.
“Yes, Robin, give it to me. Give it all to me.” He entered her harder, faster, as she cried out his name again, meeting his thrust with her own. “Yeah, that’s it.” Her moans grew louder against his neck, and her body began to tense around his cock as she came. He plunged deeper. His orgasm rocked him to the core, stronger than anything he had experienced before.
His sweat-glistened body collapsed onto the bed near her, as they both struggled to catch their breath.
They lay there quietly until Sam heard her breathing slow down. When he looked at her, it was obvious she had fallen asleep.
He didn’t do relationships, and he didn’t do overnighters. He liked to avoid the morning-after awkward conversation. But Sam found himself looking forward to waking in the morning with her by his side.
Rolling over onto his side, Sam threw an arm and leg over hers and pulled her close.
We can talk tomorrow. He nestled up against her and inhaled her sweet scent. Just before he drifted off to sleep, he muttered softly against her, “I love you.”
Epilogue
Robin walked around to the back yard and heard Sam saying to Ron, “I thought for sure you were going to burn down the house.”
“I told you I know how to handle a grill.”
Ron’s wife was shaking her head behind him. Robin wasn’t going to get in the middle of that. Besides if she did, they might try putting her in charge of cooking.
She couldn’t believe how many people had shown up. It looked like half the people from Tremont were there. It was supposed to be a summer barbeque for family and friends. But one thing about Tremont, once you lived there, you were family.
It was funny how much had changed in one year. Robin thought for sure she’d have sold Aunt Ester’s house. Instead it was the perfect weekend getaway for her and Sam. And after a long week at work, both looked forward to some peace and quiet.
But after this gathering, she wasn’t sure Tremont was going to be able to stay quiet for long. If it wasn’t for the hospitality of the town, she had no idea where everyone would’ve stayed. Even Sheriff Bob allowed one of Sam’s single workers to sleep on the cot in the cell.
Barb came over with one of the twins on her hip. “I really thought we’d be celebrating a wedding by now.”
“Please, don’t start that again. Sam and I are fine just the way we are. Besides, we’re both so busy running our businesses, when would either of us have time to plan a wedding?”
“I thought when you opened that tattoo parlar in Boston that it meant you guys were going to tie the knot.”
Robin had agreed to live with Sam, which was a big step in both of their lives. But she had told him she couldn’t commit to anything more until her business was running in the black. She didn’t want Sam for his money. All she wanted was his love, and there was no doubt that she had that.
Sam was approaching and she needed to change the subject quickly. “And when are you having another baby?” Robin asked.
“Baby? Who’s having a baby?” Sam’s father asked.
That brought her parents coming over to them. “You’re having a baby?”
Robin’s heart raced and she shot Barb a warning look. Look at what you did. “No one is having a baby.”
“But I thought I heard…” his father said.
“No baby?” her mother sighed.
Sam wasn’t much help. He only stood there staring at her. With her hands on her hips she said, “Are you going to help me here?”
He nodded. “I guess there’s only one thing to do.”
Everyone seemed to be gathering around them and she hoped that he would clarify the misunderstanding quickly. She saw him look around and for a brief minute, he looked unsure of himself. That was odd, because Sam was the most confident man she’d ever met.
When he turned back to her, he cleared his throat. In a loud voice he said so all could hear, “For the record, Robin and I are not having a baby.”
She could see the disappointment on both her parents and his. Robin had wanted him to help, not ruin the party. But she didn’t have a chance to say anything as Sam continued.
“But I wanted to thank you all for traveling all this way. It means a lot to me and Robin to spend this day with you all. It was exactly one year ago when I showed up here and offered to service her box.”
Robin’s mother gasped and Barb snickered. Robin rolled her eyes and swore she’d never ask Sam to bail her out of a sticky situation again. But he was far from done.
Sam pulled his hand out of his pocket and dropped onto one knee. Robin stood there with all eyes on her. This couldn’t be happening, could it? But as she looked down at Sam she realized this was no joke. He reached out for her hand and said, “Robin, I know we haven’t talked about marriage, and honestly, I never even considered it before. At least not until I met you. I am not sure what our tomorrows will be like, but all I know is I want to spend them with you.” Opening his hand he held up a ring that she could barely see through the tears that were streaming down her cheeks. “Will you do me the honor and say yes to being my wife?”
Robins hands were trembling and her legs threatened to give out. She nodded and said, “Yes. Yes, I’ll marry you.”
He slipped the ring on her finger and pulled her into his arms, kissing her. She could hear all the guests erupting in cheers as they gathered even closer. Soon they were forced to end their embrace as her mother was pulling her into her arms and Sam was being congratulated by his father.
She couldn’t pay attention to anyone but Sam. Even through the crowd their eyes stayed focused on each other. He mouthed to her the words she would never grow tired of hearing. I love you. Robin smiled and mouthed them in return.
Then her mother said, “Oh how exciting. Maybe next year we can all come back and celebrate a grandchild.”
Robin shook her head but didn’t bother arguing. What would’ve once scared her to death, now seemed like the next wonderful chapter in their lives.
Barb stepped in like only a best friend would and said, “First things first. Let’s plan the wedding.”
It seemed every woman circled around her to usher her into the house. When she got inside, a strong gust of wind blew in as well. There was box that she didn’t recall seeing before, blown off the top of one of the cupboards. Robin walked over and opened it.
As she lifted the cover, she couldn’t help but laugh.
“What’s so funny?” her mother asked.
“I hope this wasn’t Aunt Ester’s.” She held up a sexy multicolored garter.
Barb snickered. “Maybe you can wear it on your wedding day.”
Robin put it back in the box and said, “No way in hell am I wearing that on my wedding day.”
She closed the box and tossed it on the counter. Thanks Aunt Ester, but I think I’m going traditional. Got anything blue?
The women were all sitting around talking dates and colors and themes, so no one noticed when Sam entered and waved her to sneak out with him. As they went around to the front, he opened the door to the sheriff’s Jeep and said, “Get in.”
“Where are we going?” Robin asked.
“Someplace I can kiss you properly.”
She looked at Sam and asked, “Are you serious? We’re leaving our own party to go and make out?”
Sam nodded. “Are you opposed to that suggestion?”
“I was just wondering what
took you so long to come up with it.”
As they pulled away from the house, she leaned over and rested her head on Sam’s shoulder. The sun glistened through the windshield and onto her ring.
It took losing everything to be able to find what she was meant to be all along. There was no more looking back, because her future was with the one person she couldn’t picture living without.
Sam wrapped an arm around her. “Where to?”
“Anyplace, as long as it’s with you,” Robin said.
“The sheriff told me about this lake that is perfect for skinny dipping. What do you say?”
She giggled. “Since we have his vehicle, I say let’s go for it.”
As they sped away from the party, Robin never looked back. Why would she? Her future was sitting in the driver’s seat, and the road seemed to lead to a happily ever after.
