  “Where’s Tommy?” Rance asked. “He should see this sunset.” He offered her his arm and she slipped her arm through it and rested her head on his shoulder.

  “He passed out right after dinner,” Holly said. “I think you wore him out today, teaching him how to ride and rope.”

  “He’s a good boy,” Rance said with a nod.

  “You’re a good man,” Holly said.

  “And you’re my good luck charm.”

  Holly lifted her chin and kissed his lips. With her head against his shoulder, she watched the sun set and sighed. Soon as he finished his coffee she’d take him inside and show him just how good his luck really was.
