Call Me, Irresistible

“Uh uh…” Shane nipped at her lips, “Don’t hold back. I want to hear you.”

He pulled back and slammed inside her again and she moaned with pleasure. There were times they had to be quiet because the girls were in the house. But tonight it was just the two of them and he wanted her sounds so she gave it to him.

  “Shane!”

He groaned as he pulled out and thrust again, “That’s it baby.”

“Harder.” She ran her hands to his ass and squeezed with her nails, “Don’t hold back either.”

Shane unleashed an almost inhuman growl and then he was upright on his knees. He shoved one of her legs to the side, opening her up wide for him as he began to pound into her relentlessly. He held her other leg around his waist and his eyes were riveted to the place where their bodies were joined. Lemon put her hands up over her head, using the headboard for leverage and pushing back each time he thrust forward.

It was brutal. It was fast and hard. It was rough. And she loved every single second of it.

Their eyes met and held and Shane was the sexiest thing she’d ever seen in her life. His skin was shiny with sweat. His eyes twinkled with pleasure, his pupils blown wide. His lips were red from their kisses. Her scratch marks covered his shoulders and chest. He looked wild and untamed and manly. He looked like hers.

“Say it.” He growled in that voice that made her body squeeze tight around him.

“Say what?” She smirked, teasing him and earning a playful smack to her thigh.

“You know what I want to hear. Say it.” He ground himself into her, “Say it, Lemon.”

  “I’m yours.”

“Damn right you are.” Shane circled his hips again. “Now, say it.”

  “I love you.”

That got her the smile that had stolen her heart and Shane lunged forward to press his mouth to hers, “I love you too.”

And then he really unleashed on her. Pounding and driving her to the brink. He took her hard enough that she would feel him for days. She knew that was his intent. He was claiming her, marking her, and there was no going back from this. Not for either of them.

Her body clenched tight as the beginning of her orgasm stole through her and she knew Shane felt it because he grit his teeth and gripped her even harder. Her body was trying to hold him deep, where he belonged. Wanted to take him inside her and join them as one. They were one like this. And that thought, that knowledge threw her over the cliff.

“That’s. It. Baby.” Shane thrust hard with each grunted word, “Come. For. Me.”

  “Shane!”

“Love you. Love you. Love you.” He jerked hard and then stilled buried deep inside her.

She felt every hot jet as he came inside her. He was a part of her. She carried him inside her. Even if she could never carry their child, they were one. He’d said he was tying them together but this was beyond just their bodies.

Their hearts and souls were intertwined.

Shane collapsed on top of her with a huff, “Jesus…”

  “Just Lemon, actually.”

He snorted a laugh and nipped her shoulder as he rolled to his side, taking her with him so she sprawled across him, “I love you.”

“Love you too.” She curled against him.

They lay together for a long time, just breathing each other in. Their heartbeats steadied. Their skin cooled. They held onto each other in the stillness and silence and only when Lemon’s brain finally kicked back on did she tense.

“Shh, not tonight.” Shane must have sensed her change in mood because his grip on her tightened, “We don’t have to decide everything tonight.”

  “But…”

“We have time now.” He traced patterns onto her back, “We have forever.”

  “But the girls saw…”

“We’ll talk to them tomorrow. They’ll understand.”

“Georgie…” She tried again only to be rolled to her back so he could look over her, his face serious.

“Will understand. We’ll make her understand. She loves you Lemon. They all do. Just like I do.”

Her throat felt tight, “I love them too.”

“We’re going to be your family now, so that’s good, baby. That’s real good.” Shane stroked her wet, sweaty hair back, “I love you so much. You were gone a day and all I could think about was when I’d get you back.”

“I thought I’d lost you today.”

“Never. You’re not getting rid of me that easily, Lem.”

“I don’t want to get rid of you at all.”

“Good answer.” He nuzzled her neck and his hips pressed against hers.

She grinned when she felt him growing hard, “Again? Already? I thought you needed recovery time, old man?”

He bit her, “We have the house all to ourselves for once. I plan to take you so many times you’re hoarse from screaming my name.”

“You shouldn’t make promises you can’t keep.” She taunted as she slid her hand down and stroked him.

“Is that a challenge?” Shane grinned at her, rising to her taunt just as she’d known he would, “You know I can’t turn down a challenge.”

  “Exactly.”

She barely had time to bask in getting exactly what she wanted before his mouth was on hers. His body was on hers again. And he was demanding she scream his name.

God, she loved this bossy bastard.

  Epilogue

Shane took a deep breathe, let it out and thanked God for this life he’d been given. Tonight was perfect. Every night with his family was perfect. It had been for the last three months. Ever since the night Lemon came back to him, came home to him. They’d had three perfect months together but tonight, tonight was something special.

He glanced around his living room and felt his heart swell with love. Georgie was curled up in the chair. She’d spent most of the evening staring at her phone and even now, with her eyes closed in sleep, it was clutched tight to her chest. Even knowing she’d been messaging that West boy all night didn’t ruin his mood. Not tonight. Sophie and Rosie were sprawled haphazardly on the couch between him and Lemon, also asleep. They were all arms and legs and he’d been kicked in the gut at least five times but he didn’t mind. Not when Lemon smiled at him from the other end of the couch with that sweet, contented smile that he loved so much it made his chest hurt.

They’d all gathered together tonight to watch another awards show. According to Georgie, it was awards season. Lemon had only rolled her eyes at that and asked if they could order pizza instead of having one of her cooking lessons. They’d feasted on pizza and cookies in front of the television as they watched celebrities and superstars parade down a red carpet and he’d been worried.

Worried that if he looked at Lemon he would see the disappointment in her eyes. Worried that she missed the life she’d left behind for him. Worried that she wished she was there, in a fancy dress with styled hair and perfect makeup and killer shoes, smiling for the cameras instead of just for him.

But then she’d given him that smile, that special, perfect smile that said she loved him and this life they had together just as much as he did, and he’d dismissed his worries just that easily.

Because Lemon hadn’t chosen him over that other life. She was still a huge star. She always would be. She flew back and forth from Fate to Nashville whenever she needed to for work. She’d been doing a lot of writing for her next album right here, at home with him, and then flying to Nashville to record. But she always came back and sometimes he even went with her.

He’d hated the house she took him to. It hadn’t been Lemon at all. It was cold and indifferent and had no personality. She’d laughed at his reaction and told him she was selling it. They were looking at buying a smaller place, somewhere in the country, so they could have a home there for extended visits but where the girls would have space to roam as well.

It worked. They worked. Just as he’d known they would. There were compromises on both sides. He fit her into his li
fe and she fit him into hers. But they made it work because they knew what was important. Being together. Through all of the rest of the roadblocks and obstacles that life tried to throw at them, Shane knew that they would make it for one reason above all others.

They wanted to make it work, so they did. It was as simple as that. They loved one another. They trusted each other. They confided their hopes and dreams with each other. And both of them wanted their futures to be intertwined as closely as humanly possible.

Shane intended to do exactly that tonight.

“Are you sorry you didn’t go tonight?” He kept his voice low so as not to wake the children.

Lemon blinked and turned to face him, “What?”

“To the awards show? I know Millie wanted you to go.”

“Millie is a pain in the...” Lemon glanced around and grinned, “ass.”

Shane tried not to laugh, afraid he’d jostle his daughters back into consciousness. That was one thing they’d definitely had to work on. Language. He could admit he cursed more than he probably should but he generally tried to restrict it to times when his children weren’t around. Lemon was getting better at curbing her own language but it was definitely a work in progress.

“We could have gone.” He said instead but Lemon only shook her head.

“I didn’t want to go. I wanted to stay home and wear my comfy sweats and get used as a mattress by a six year old.” She played with a sleeping Rosie’s hair and then glanced back up at him with that smile again, “Haven’t you figured it out yet? There’s nowhere else I want to be but here with you and them, Shane.”

His heart thumped and his throat felt tight but he forced the words, “You really mean that?”

“Of course I do. This, you and these girls, you’re my whole world. As long as I have this, as long as I have you, I have everything I need.”

“What about what you want though?”

“What I want?” She tilted her head curiously, “Shane, what I want is this. I want you. I love you. I want to spend the rest of my life sitting on this couch with you, watching tv and eating too much pizza. I want to watch these girls become women and know that I helped somehow. I want this life.”

That knot in his throat grew larger, “I love you.”

  “I love you too.”

“And I’m glad you said that.” He managed a shaky smile when she furrowed her brow curiously, “I’m glad this is the life you want because there’s something I’ve been meaning to ask you.”

“Ask me? You never ask me anything. You just order me around.” She giggled and he grinned.

“This isn’t something I can just order you to do.” He nodded towards the coffee table, “Open the drawer in front of you.”

Lemon snorted, “See, now I’m confused because that was definitely an order.”

“Lemon,” He sighed, “Can you please open the drawer in front of you, preferably without waking the kids?”

It took a little bit of maneuvering but she did it. She slid Rosie around a little and managed to get the drawer open. But her hand paused and a gasp escaped before her hand darted into the drawer that was usually full of nothing but crayons and spare batteries and old receipts.

“Shane?” Her voice came out breathless and her big, blue eyes darted to his.

  “Open it, Lemon.”

She pulled out the small velvet box and he watched as she did as he told her. With shaky hands, she popped the lid of the jewelry box open and gasped again. One hand went to her mouth as the other held the box in front of her as the lemon yellow, oval cut diamond, flashed in the light.

He’d found the ring a week after she came home to him. The moment he’d seen it, he’d known it was perfect. He hadn’t asked about the cost or worried that she wouldn’t like it the way he had when he’d given Holly a ring. Because this time his heart knew exactly what the woman he loved would like and he’d bought it on the spot.

For the past three months, he’d contemplated giving it to her at least ninety times. He’d imagined them out on a fancy dinner date. He’d imagined surprising her with a family celebration and doing it in front of everyone they loved. He’d contemplated making a spectacle of them both and hiring horse and carriages and buying balloons and roses. But in the end, this was the moment he’d chosen.

This simple moment where they were with their family, in their home. This was perfect because it was them. This was what their life together looked like and they didn’t need big gestures to prove they loved one another. It was there, every single day, in the way they touched and kissed and looked at each other.

“Oh God…” Lemon’s lips trembled slightly and there were tears in her eyes when she looked back at him questioningly.

“Will you marry me, Lemon?” He met her eyes and asked instead of ordering, “Maybe it’s too fast but we’ve always gone too fast at everything. Since the moment I kissed you my heart hasn’t stopped racing, baby. I love you and I want you to be my wife. You’re already my family but I want to make it official. I want you to have the same last name as all of us, my last name. So, what do you say? Marry me and make me the happiest man in the world?”

Lemon nodded instantly, “Yes. Yes. A thousand times yes.”

He let out a breath he hadn’t realized he’d been holding. He hadn’t doubted that would be her answer. But he had prepared himself just in case she tried to put up a fight, just for the sake of arguing with him.

“I love you so much. Yes.” She wiped at her cheeks where a few tears had escaped. “Yes, I’ll marry you but only if you can lean over and give me a kiss without waking the kids.”

He chuckled softly, “I think I can manage that.”

Shane carefully steered Sophie onto his lap so his upper body was free and leaned across the couch. Lemon did the same with Rosie. They met in the middle, just barely close enough to brush their lips together. But it was still a kiss, a sweet, perfect, passionate kiss.

He wiped at her damp cheek with his thumb, “I know it wasn’t the most romantic proposal ever…”

“It was perfect.” Lemon cut him off with another soft kiss, “I love you and I love these girls. You’re the family I always wanted.”

“You’ve got us, baby. We love you too. And we’re never letting you go.” He nipped her lips.

“You’re never getting rid of me.” She grinned as she kissed him back, licking at his lips and trying to deepen the kiss but failing because of the distance between them, “But you better get rid of the kids before this night goes from PG to NC17.”

Shane snorted, “I’ll start carrying them to bed. I want to make love to my fiancé and I don’t want them scarred for life.”

Lemon grinned, her eyes sparkling mischievously, “I’ll be waiting for you in our bed. Just don’t take too long or I’ll start without you.”

  “Brat.” He laughed.

  “Bore.” She winked.

  “God I love you.”

“I love you too.” She gave him a wag of her eyebrows, “And I think your cuffs would go nicely with my new jewelry, don’t you think? Bring those with you when you come to bed.”

Shane groaned. She was perfect. Absolutely perfect. And she was his… forever.

  It Had To Be You

  A Fate, Texas Novel

Austin Evans is a playboy, a flirt and a charmer. He’s dated half the female population of Fate, Texas and figures he’ll get around to the other half before he ever decides to settle down. Fate, however, has other ideas. Because one night with the prim and proper town doctor isn’t nearly enough. He can’t get her out of his head, doesn’t want her out of his bed and if he can convince her to give him half a chance he’ll keep her in his life forever.

It was supposed to be one night. One night of passion. One night of scorching hot, mind-blowing, earth-rocking fun. It was a one night stand that somehow turned into two nights, then three and four… and Victoria Sands knew better. Of course she knew better. She was a good girl, a smart girl. She knew better than to continue seeking him out, knew better than to keep falling into his arms, knew better than to let her heart get involved, but when it came to Austin her logical, rational brain never stood a chance to her body’s desire.
