Friends Against The World (Book 1): Bite Me

Chapter 72
As we get back to the room he kisses me hard, then we enjoy exploring each other for the first time in a very long time. The room melts away as I lose myself in his touch, him gentle in the places needing that and rough with others. He pins me against the desk again, making sure my leg is comfortable before overwhelming my sense with gentle touches and kisses. I moan, enjoying the soft and slow while my body ached.
"I love you, my darling." His lips mumble to mine, and I echo it softly.
We keep kissing, and I take the first step this time by sliding my hand under his shirt, feather light as I explore his lower back. He makes a sound deep in his chest before meeting my eyes, stopping, leaving me wanting more.
"You want to take the next step?" He asks, serious.
"Darling, I may not have even known I was out for three weeks, but my body knows it. It wants some love, and who better but you?" I say, and he smiles at me. "All I ask is tonight is slow and we just spend it enjoying us."
He nods, closing the distance as he slips his shirt off, his muscles even more defined by the hard work he had obviously done for the past three weeks, tossing the fabric aside. My fingers explore his chest and run down his stomach, watching as his eyes expand in desire. My lips press as I kiss his collarbones, gently nipping at each one before moving my attention to his neck, kissing it along its gentle column and nibbling at his ear. He moans deep in my ear, and he tangles his hand in my hair, pulling me backwards with the lightest of strength.
“Bed?” He asks, letting me take the lead.
I wrap my arms around his neck and he grabs my bottom, boosting me into his arms, keeping the load bearing off my lower legs. He walks me slowly across the room, kissing my neck and taking his time driving me crazy. The amount of nerve endings feeling like they were on fire from his ministrations to my ear was driving me mad. He sets me down, tucking a pillow beneath my bad knee and crawling on top of me, using some of his weight to press me into the mattress.
A moan is ripped from my throat as he bit and sucked at the skin between my neck and my shoulder. My fingers claw at his back, and he smirks against my skin.
“Oh hun, you have no idea how much I want you.” He growls, and I look to him.
“Make me understand.” I challenge, and he raises an eyebrow.
“Are you sure?”
“Yes.” I consent, and he leans back on-top of me.
“Tell me stop, anytime, and I will. This is all up to you, we will do it at your pace.” He tells me seriously, before attacking my bare skin around my neckline.
As he nips and kisses me my body reacts to him, arching towards him while my core heats. I feel him against my thigh and shudder in desire, not scared at all and loving this moment. He pulls my shirt up with a gentle hand, leaving my upper chest covered. He moves down to kiss my stomach, his fingers playing with the bottom of my shirt.
I take the decision into my own hands and rip my shirt off, tossing it in the corner with his shirt. All that’s left on top is a sports bra, and he looks at me in awe.
“Do not ever doubt how you look. I will love you always, no matter what.”
I attempt to sit up and he drops his weight more, staring at me with a desire that makes my stomach flutter. “Let me make you feel good, mine can come with time.”
I accept without words, and he begins kissing me again, and I get lost memorizing how this feels. We trade kisses for a while, soft and slow, enjoying the peace of it just being the two of us. His hand creeps upwards to the mound of my breast, and he caresses it gently, my body not used to this and the fire crawls beneath my skin again. I moan, then squeak as he nibbles the edge of my bra.
“Am I allowed to peek beneath?” At my nodding frantically, he chuckles.
He slips my bra upwards and then makes me feel even better. As he expresses his love I writhe beneath him, enjoying my first time like this immensely. I love the way he asks permission and doesn’t pressure me. Soon he has removed my pants and my bra, leaving me almost naked beneath him.
Xavier’s red curls brush against the sensitive skin of my legs as he trails kisses up and down my legs. He slithers back up so our heads our level, and my shaking hands have gone to his belt buckle, slowly undoing it. His voice is rough with lust as he moans out my name, and I finish undoing his belt. His pale skin glows in the moonlight, and I gasp at the new perspective. I caress his cheek and he tilts his head with silent questions.
“You are just so handsome, I spent so long admiring you and you are so much more interesting to look at in person. That’s all.” I say, and I see him blush, a rare look. “Oh, and I love you.”
“I love you too Geneva, you are my everything.”
We spend the rest of the night exploring each other, the moonlight glinting across our joined forms as we made love for the first time. He managed to make sure I never hurt, and we expressed our love in a new way than. It was the wee hours of the morning when we stopped, exhausted and well-loved. I fell asleep with a smile on my face, and his heartbeat in my ear as I laid across his chest.
Chapter 73
The suns rays brightened the room and swept across our sleeping forms. As my eyelids lightened I began to wake, my cheek still pressed to Xavier's bare chest. The memories came rushing back to me of last night and I smiled again. I crawl out from his arms and lean up to kiss him, leaving my knee propped up on a pillow. It was an awkward angle, but as he woke and smiled it made it worth it.
"Good morning, my darling. How are you?" He asked huskily, and I smiled.
"Very good, you?"
He nodded, kissing me again sweetly. "That was one of the best nights of my life, thank you for sharing that with me. I love you ever so much. What time is it?"
"Almost ten in the morning, I am surprised no one came to wake us earlier." I comment, sitting up to take my medicine.
Xavier joins me, the blanket pooling in his lap as the cold air kissed my bare skin. We had fallen asleep without any clothes on and I felt very exposed. He moves down to near my bad knee and begins to gently massage it, checking for swelling and making sure it still feels good.
"Me too, unless they did, saw bare skin, and bolted. Did we lock the door?" He questions and looks to the handle. "No, we did not. Well, shall we assume someone came in to wake us then?"
My face turns beet red as I realize what might have happened, and Xavier chuckles.
"Oh sweetheart, its not that big of a deal if someone did. They are our friends, they won't judge us. We were safe with contraceptives, and I do not regret it one bit."
"Me either." I say quietly, and he stares at me with love in his eyes.
He helps me dress carefully, and I notice the muscle tone showing on my body now, slipping the brace around my right knee and securing it. We keep exchanging smiles and light touches before he helps me stand with the crutch, my knee stiff from sleep. He pulls on a sweater and pair of jeans quickly before going to the door and opening it, to be almost bowled over by Violet, who proceeds to shove him out of the room, slamming the door behind him.
"Was it consensual?" She demands, and I smile at her protectiveness.
"Yes, and we were safe about it."
"Okay." She breathes out, then a wicked smile takes the worried look away. "Did you enjoy it?"
I blush, and she giggles, then makes sure I make it to the door safely. "Yes. Now how many others have you told, aka how ready do I have to be for sarcasm and teasing?"
"Just Idris, cannot say whether he told anyone else." Violet said, letting Xavier take over walking beside me as I limp along, her coming to my other side.
"Liam and Lee at the very least. Which means everyone probably knows by now."
"If they didn't, it's pretty obvious. Have you looked at yourselves, you have bruises on your neck are obviously hickies and keep looking to each other softly like you have a secret." Violet listed, and only then I noticed the dark skin near Xavier's neckline.
"We enjoyed ourselves, and if one of
them makes fun of us we will test the cure on them first." Xavier declares, and Violet shakes her head.
"I do not condone this."
"You cannot condone what you do not know." He said cryptically, and I smile.
"It's okay, at least it was only Violet. You came in to wake us this morning, didn't you?"
She nods. "Yes, only me, then I noticed the amount of bare skin showing above where you had the blankets pulled up too, so I high-tailed it before you awoke to scar me more."
As the trio of us walked to the cafeteria we passed Liam toting a giant basket of clothes, and he whistles. Xavier flips him off as he laughs his way to the back stairway to wash his clothes. Xavier told me they just bypassed the coin payment on all of them, so anyone can wash what they need too anytime.
"Breakfast passed about an hour ago so we saved some for you, Xavier, come on, lets go heat up your food." Violet grabbed his forearm and dragged him off, as I watch in amusement as the tiny girl drags my tree of a boyfriend along.
The chair squeals across the floor as I drag it out, settling down onto it and placing my crutch against the wall behind me. The tables and chairs were so much easier to get into then the benches. Lee comes up and sits beside me, a giant grin on his face and I shake my head, knowing what’s coming.
"So, you are no longer innocent I heard through the grapevine." He teased, then turned serious. "Do you regret it?"
I shake my head and he smile again. "Never in a million years, it was wonderful."
"Good, now I can tease you. So, how big is he?" He asks, and I choke as Xavier comes back up, a dangerous glint in his eye as he stands behind Lee quietly.
"Big enough to toss you across the room strength wise."
Lee jumped about a foot, his startled look behind him to see Xavier, and he vacates the chair, dancing out of reach. "Have to catch me first!"
He giggles, then runs over to where Quiyl is looking on, confused, when he tells her she mouths an apology before dragging him away. Violet and Idris come and sit across from us as I dig into the omelette Xavier placed in front of me.
Chapter 74
"Sorry for the late start, what can we do boss?" I ask, and he glares at me.
"What you can do is relax, and at this point, that’s an order." Idris says, and I huff. "I know, I never like healing either. But when Sonji, Lynx and Xavier declare you fit for work again is when I will allow that. For today, you and Xavier can take the next two radio shifts, feel free to just do them together, that’s located in the old electricity room. Then Xavier is scheduled for some farm tending and Galexai asked if she could sit in with him and Sonji as they attempt to work on a cure. Geneva, if you want, you could join for that, if Xavier says yes."
Xavier nods, almost halfway done his food. "I don't see why not, be a good time to do your physical therapy as well. Need to keep on the healthy muscle building."
"In that case I will arrange Lynx's time to reflect that as well. As you know I have posted our daily schedules on the front hall bulletin board. Liam has asked for some time today to work on getting our own internet network set up if he can pull it off, so I am going to be helping him along with Dainan. If you need me or them, we will be in the server room off the main hall. Liam thinks it's possible, and then we could just use our phones to communicate." Idris shrugs. "I am putting Violet in charge of making sure you rest, and she can help as needed. First, you just need to do the checks of the greenhouse then you are free until noon for your radio shift."
"Hey Idris, we were going to do the farm stuff now." James called from the door, and Idris refers to his clipboard.
"Okay, then I will bump Xavier's time until now and after that you two can do the radio scans."
Xavier nods at the change of schedule. "Fine, that's understandable."
He gets up, then over his shoulder says sarcastically, "You might want to wear a scarf today, the both of you."
Violet continues sitting, waving bye to her boyfriend as he leaves to start his day. Xavier stands with both our plates and presses a kiss to my forehead, off to do the farm chores. Rachel and James meet him at the door and they walk in the direction of the old baseball diamond, Maggie happily trotting beside Xavier, tongue hanging out of her mouth. Violet and I stand and begin to walk in the direction of the greenhouse, slowly, my knee brace clicking with every step.
"Your first time was with Idris, yes?" I ask, and Violet nods.
"About six months into us dating, yes." She responded, her cheeks slightly pink, before she turned to me. "You aren't worried you rushed into it?"
I take a moment to answer, us about halfway to the greenhouse now. "For my first time, I wouldn't have asked for anyone else to share it with. Yes, it is only about two months since we started dating but I never felt huge importance around my virginity. I know the first time is supposed to be special and waited on, but the time felt right. And I love him, what else could I ask for?"
"Very true." She smiles, then says off-hand. "Imagine your Dad's reaction if he ever found out."
The last sentence brings me to a stop as panic crashes over my chest, realizing the thought hadn't even crossed my mind why he never made it with my Uncle, Step-Mom, and Grandmother. Violet turns to ask me then realizes what I just did and comes to hug me.
"Oh hun, I am so sorry. I thought you had realized by now that the timeline had long past." She says, then shakes her head. "He could still be out there, maybe he decided to wait a few months in a less dense area."
I hear her words of comfort, but my mind won't stop racing, kicking myself over not realizing this sooner. She helps me slide to the ground, then sits in front of me as I process this.
"It never even crossed my mind, after all that happened, that my Dad never made it here." I look to her with tears in my eyes, and she hugs me. "Vi, I can't lose more parents. I had to say good-bye to two already, but the thought of him out there comforted me."
"I know hun, I know. We were hoping too."
"We?" I ask, the tears leaking down my cheeks, I roughly swipe them away with the corner of my sleeve.
"The group here discussed it while you were comatose, and we debated sending a search party but with all the fortifying we had to do here it just wasn't possible." She explained, and then noticed my eyes hardening in determination. "Evie, you have to just wait to see if he comes. We cannot afford the resources to send you that far, for so long, because he's near Bracebridge."
"Violet." I beg, and she sighs. "It's my Father, I can't...not know."
She holds my shoulders with both hands and looks me in the eyes. "I understand darling, its just not possible right now. You know I would be right there at your side if you went, but let’s get the new people settled in and we can bring it up at dinner tonight, okay?"
I sigh, accepting that being the only response I would get from her. She helps me stand and we continue to the greenhouse, Sonji already there with Alexander and Dustin. Violet puts a chair down for me and I sink into it, greeting Dustin and Alexander with a wave after Violet takes my crutch and leans it against a wall.
Chapter 75
"We are learning about your system here and... this is impressive." Dustin gestures to the rows of hydroponics, and I smile.
"We had a horticulture class at this school and our final project for two years was to build one of these systems. Everyone who went here had a crash course in maintenance, I am assuming that’s what Sonji is running through for you?"
"Yep. This stuff is so cool, I had wanted to learn about it for a while, so to have a system in front of me, well built one too, I could really learn a lot from you guys." Alexander comments, and Sonji smiles at him.
"We encourage you to learn whatever you want, always better to have a few people good at something then just one person great at it. We do check every morning, and a quick check at night to make sure everything is running well. Usually two people get assigned to the morning slot and one to the night slot." Sonji launches back into explaining, and I keep an eye
on the time.
Violet, Sonji and I run through everything with them, teaching the way that we run it. Violet and Sonji do most of the talking, and I interject occasionally. Soon it is almost twelve thirty and I stand up, the four of them closer to the back of the building now, turn to look at me.
"Just going to get ready to take my radio scanning shift, go learn the ropes from whoever is running it right now. See you guys in a little bit?" I wave, and they return the gesture.
The hall is empty as I leave the room to go to where the radio is, taking more of the weight off my crutch and onto my leg. I should ask Xavier to look at it again, it seems weak some days and strong others, I think to myself. The blue door of the electricity classroom comes into view and I knock gently, walking through after to see Bella perched on a stool and fiddling with a dial, headset over one ear. The room had multiple wooden tables arranged around the room, stools on one side.
"Hey Eva, good to see you. You are taking over?" She says, hand still messing with the dials on the front.
"Once I get a crash course, yes. I came a bit early to see if maybe you could give one to me?" I ask, and she nods, pointing to the stool next to her.
"Would love too." She helps me get settled in, moving another stool out of the way so I could rest my foot on the table strut. "So, this is how you find the channels..."
She goes through and shows me what all the dials do on the old wooden radio, letting me hear the static as she searches for chatter. Her dark brown hair is swept up in a high ponytail, and she keeps having to flick stray strands out of the way. Phoenix shows up closer to the hour mark, kisses Bella in greeting before pulling a stool over, next to her.
"How’s your bionic knee?" Phoenix asks, and I chuckle.
"It gets better then it gets worse. Being knocked out for three weeks let it heal, sure. But now that I am trying to build muscle back around it, it gives me some issues."
"I am sure the bedroom romp did not help that." She says, her blue eyes teasing.
"I mean, we were careful." I say, my cheeks colouring, a way too normal occurrence nowadays.
