The Boyfriend Game Page 11

by Stephie Davis

“Well, the thing is, I missed you this week. I’d gotten used to hanging out with you and when I couldn’t anymore…it bummed me out.” He tugged on my ponytail, and this time it didn’t make me think that we were only friends. It made me think that I liked him, and I liked being with him. “So?”

I grinned at him, my happiness nearly bubbling out of my head. “So what?”

He groaned. “Cut me some slack here, Trisha. I’m not exactly used to telling girls I like them, you know? Are you in or not?”

I laughed, unable to keep it inside any longer. “Graham, you’re a total idiot if you can’t figure out that I like you too.”

“Really?” He got this huge smile on his face.

  “Swear.”

He slipped his hands around my waist and pulled me against him, tossing the ice cream cone over his shoulder. It landed with a splat on the sidewalk. “So, does that mean I have a varsity girlfriend?”

I giggled like a total girl and linked my hands behind his neck. “Yeah, I guess it does.”

“Sweet.” Then he bent his head, and I stood up on my tiptoes and we met in the middle.

  And it was perfect.
