The amount of information the System is transmitting to my mind is huge already, yeah there is no display or anything showing up in front of me, only a huge number of different types of information going on in my mind all the time. Maybe I'm not the only one with a System on this planet? I better stop with the random thoughts and focus my soul on moving!

I expanded my soul focus on my ball body and rolled! I like this feeling!

  “Let's roll! Here I go!”

  Ding!

  Rolling, Rolling, Rolling +10 XP.

  Rolling, Rolling, Rolling +10 XP.

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling level-up to 2.

  ◆◆◆

  Ding!

Rolling, Rolling, Rolling level-up to 3.

Good news is that my rolling skill is leveling up, actually, I'm moving fast, I'm getting better and better at it. The only problem I can think of is that I don't how much faster I am than a beast. During the two months I was rolling, besides some random trash and getting a few XP points here and there, I didn't encounter a single beast.

“I'm close to exiting this forest and I went in the right direction, it seems that I do have good luck!”

During the next few months I tried to create and learn skills, but I guess either the System is stingy or I'm too dumb... I even looked through my memories to see if there was something from any novel I've read to help me out and nothing worked. Sigh, maybe my System is incomplete, and that is why I can't learn everything that I want. I don't know how I ended up with this System...

  Ding!

Unlocked System Version and System Upgrade.

Huh?! Are you kidding me?! A random thought and I had changed something in the System. Two months of trying and nothing happened. This is not fair! Maybe there is someone behind the System laughing at me...

  Chapter 6

  2 years

  System Version 0.9

You aren't even at the first version... It said there was a System Upgrade, so maybe there is a way, but I doubt anything I found so far can help, I better ask.

“System, how can I help you upgrade to 1.0?”

  Unknown.

Great, it seems now the System got lazier. Before at least, it was polite with me, the host! Bahh, not worth it, not worth it, let's keep rolling!

During this time the rest of the world, the universe, and time were working as usual... A small, deadly ball was moving through the forest but it seemed like it didn't go forward to exit the forest, but instead it was doing circles, missing the exit completely… The poor ball couldn't find the path to the exit through the forest.

  Two years passed by…

Why can't I get out of this stupid forest! Damn it, two years have passed and I can't even find how to exit the forest! This sucks! In my previous life I didn't even know how to read a map, and I had a bad sense of direction... guess that didn't change.

  Ding!

Congratulations on killing a Normal Wolf +50 XP.

During this year I found several things out about myself, and the System. The System evolved to a 1.0 model when I was two years old, I guess time made it evolve. My Scan function skill evolved to Inspect, now it allows me to see more detailed information, the rabbit I killed was a Normal Beast of the 1st rank. More or less, with the help of the System, I found out how the beast rankings worked in this forest. A Normal Beast goes from 1st rank to 3rd rank, and after that, there is the Wild Beast rank which goes from rank 1st to 6th. After that, there is the King Beast, which I only found from the Black Wolf from before, and it was at the 1st rank.

I could be the king of the forest, besides the Black Wolf Beast, pretty much any beast that came across my path got killed by me through my poison. After two years of killing beasts, I was able to determine my speed while rolling; it equals to a 6th rank Wild Beast. I chased every beast I saw to kill it and earn experience and death points. In fact, it doesn't matter if I kill a Normal Beast or a Wild Beast, I only get 1 death point per kill. My Death Core also increases by 1 with each kill. Regarding the XP ratio, I found out how many XP gives me each rank. Normal beasts give me 10, 30, and 50 XP, and Wild Beasts give me 60, 80, 100, 120, 140, and 160 XP.

I tried to kill the black wolf, but it didn't end well... I couldn't fight it, I doubt that I could even call it a fight! I rolled and crashed against the enemy, crashing against the beast's mouth so the poison would spread faster and the beast would die sooner... but for the Black Wolf, it didn't work. Until now every time I crashed, or a Normal or Wild Beast hit me, my Death Core integrity would always stay at maximum, 100%. Facing the Black Wolf, its claws could damage me, and each hit on my Core took down twenty percent of my Integrity stat. I could only sustain five hits at the most... after that... permadeath!

Yeah! I found out I can die, even though I'm already dead. The System explained that even though I'm a Death Core and my status is dead, I can cease to exist by getting my Death Core destroyed. I thought I was immortal... It left me only one option—roll at my fastest speed and escape from the Black Wolf.

I escaped. I thought it would relieve me, but it wasn't the case, after escaping my Death Core from being damaged my Integrity didn't recover, and that's not all, with my Integrity at forty percent, I was now sixty percent weaker on all stats.

It was all clear now, a Normal and Wild beast cannot damage my Death Core. The only problem now is that I cannot chase them with my capabilities reduced to forty percent. I can only chase and kill up to a 3rd rank Wild Beast.

Even with all of the stress that has happened, I was just happy that I still existed and I kept improving and killing.

  Rolling, Rolling, Rolling.

Finally out of this damn forest! Oh, it seems there is a road nearby, cool, I will follow it. I must find dead bodies to rebuild my body. I really want to eat something, I haven't eaten or drank for about three years, it's not that I feel the need to eat or something in my stomach, it's just that I miss it.

I kept rolling as fast as I could; actually, I never thought how weird it would be to be a ball rolling on the road. Neither did I think what would happen if a human picked me up, I'm very poisonous, whoever picks me up might die due to my ability.

After a few days of rolling in the road, I had to stop, rest, and hi
de. I wanted to cry! Finally, I found something that wasn't a beast.

  Ding!

Congratulations Host, found 1st Human being. +100 XP.

  Chapter 7

  Death is coming!

The reason I stopped was because I saw a little girl rolling! Well, she was running then tripped on a rock on the road and then she rolled... that's why I stopped.

I kept looking at her... I didn't dare to move... if she picks me up she's dead... why is she is not moving?

  “System Inspect her.”

  Normal Human. Status: Unconscious.

That's great, now I know she is safe... but what if I'm still poisonous after I construct my body?

While I was thinking, something broke my train of thought, another person with a black cloak was rushing to the little girl. It seems like he has ill intentions.

“Stupid little girl I finally caught you,” The black cloaked man was roaring to the little girl, he was about to reach for her... like a ray of light I rolled at an insane speed, with only one thought on my mind KILL, in a few seconds I had already reached the man. I aimed at his foot and got ready for the impact…

  BOOM!!!

I crushed his foot, the man lost his balance and fell to the ground; I could see him in panic. I took a moment to observe the injury I just caused and I had to say he was bleeding a lot.

“Who dares to sneak attack me!! I'm under the protection from the City Lord.” He was still struggling to maintain a defensive stance. “Show yourself. I only need the little girl,” before the man could utter the next word his lungs exploded with a loud scream.

  Argh!

“What have you done,” the man kept yelling, pleading for his life.

I kept looking at him, just waiting, patiently, waiting to see how my poison slowly crept into every corner of his body, destroying every speck of life it found. The man’s veins turned black; his muscles rotted, the hair on his body fell off, he kept yelling and rolling on the floor.

A few minutes later he was dead. He suffered a fate worse than burning in hell.

“Begone piece of trash.” I killed my first human being, yet I felt nothing, only joy. I could feel my mood getting more used to killing, but could I keep doing it? Am I death incarnate?

Yeah, I exist to bring death!

If anyone dares to bring harm to a little girl before me. This is your fate!

  Ding!

Congratulations on killing your 1st Human. +500 XP.

  Death Core +1.

  Death Points: +23.

  Refine Human Body?

  “Yes”

Human Body: 2%. Reach 98% to have a complete Human Body.

Good. I need to kill more people, with more people being killed, I can take and refine more bodies, I stared at the little girl laying on the dirt. I need more bodies... fuck what am I thinking? Death won't compel me to kill indiscriminately! I cleared my mind and rearranged my thoughts.

Thinking about death, Death Points: 23? What happened to the rule I found. One kill was equal to one death point. How come it changed now? Killing humans gives me more death points? For the Death Core it remains the same, 1 kill equals 1 XP.

“System, how come I gained more death points than normal?”

Replying to the host, human beings differ from a beast, the beast kills to survive, to eat, by instincts. Thus, the System only awarded 1 Death Point per kill. Humans are different they kill for many reasons: greed, love, pleasure, when they do these things their Death Aura increases, when the host killed this man, the Death Aura released upon the man's death was absorbed by the host and converted to Death Points.

If I understood this well, killing people that have killed will make me earn more death points than killing a beast.

Yes. As long as that person has killed at least 1 time you will get awarded 2 points, 10 times—11 points, and so on.

“Okay. Understood. How come I cannot see the Death Aura values when I inspected the little girl? Shouldn't Inspect function give me this kind of information?”

  Ding!

Upgraded Inspect. Added Death Points worth.

I paused, annoyedly. Sometimes I really think that someone is playing a cruel joke on me.

“Time to loot!” I said joyfully.

Where is the loot? No space ring? Treasure bag? Any cool cultivation manual or something? I thought as I rummaged through the man’s belongings.

Replying to the host. The enemy had nothing.

“Worst luck ever... how sad, a man died and left nothing for posterity...” If the man that just died were to listen to my words in his mind, he would've puked blood.

“HELP! HELP! HELP!!!” The little girl shouted for help, and cried the moment she woke up, she was really scared, and what was left of the dead man after the System refined the corpse, wasn't helping her, it could barely be called a piece of meat... the corpse was more like a paste that had melted onto the ground.

The only thing I could do was stare at her frozen, without being able to do anything to help her... I hate this feeling…

The little girl calmed down, she moved around a little bit. Her expression showed that she did not understand where she was. She was lost.

“Wuuu, I'm lost, wuuu, how am I going to get back?”

“Young miss, young miss, where are you?” I heard a loud voice, it was way too strong, it was from someone powerful.

“I'm HERE!!!!!” The girl shouted as loud as she could, she was turning red...

Finally, the man found her and came to her side.

“Young miss, are you okay? What happened?”

“Yes, yes, yes, we were suddenly attacked on the middle of the road, they were covered with black cloaks, they said nothing, they attacked us directly. The guards tried to protect me, but they outnumbered us. They tried to stall time for me to run, so I ran. After running for some time, I thought it would be okay, but a black-cloaked man followed me. I was so scared while running I didn't pay attention to the ground and tripped, hit my head and became unconscious. When I woke up, the black-cloaked man was already like this.”

“Okay. I understand you are now safe and unhurt.” Still, what could have happened, how does a man end like this, what kind of mighty force saved you young miss?

“The guards, are they okay? Did they...?” said the young miss, whose mind already knew the answer.

“All of them died,” the man said solemnly.

  Chapter 8

  Refining

“Don't worry young miss, their duty was to protect you. Their families will be compensated for their death, they won't be mistreated.”

“If it's to be like this, I'm less worried, I never expected them to be so brave.”

“Of course young miss, after all, they were guards from our Su Clan! They were specially trained under heavy training, many of them were already of the 5th rank, Mortal Realm.” Although this man was reduced to a pulp, it's totally different with the other battle scene... maybe it was done by a senior assassin at the Qi Refining stage... only the decapitated head of the Su Clan remains at the Qi Refining stage.

The man was frowning while thinking about something.

“Uncle Tian, Uncle Tian, what are you thinking about so deeply?”

“Oh, sorry Young Miss. Let's hurry, we need to return to the clan, I have a bad feeling. Sorry, Young Miss.” With that, he grabbed the little girl, turned around in the direction he came from, and started to run.

The man and the little girl, about eight years old, soon disappeared from my sight.

  Ding!

  Upgrading Inspect.

“Oh, it seems listening to that man helped the Inspect function to upgrade. Good job System.” The man I killed had a cultivation at the Mortal rank, though I don't know which rank. Pity I forgot to inspect him.

The Su Clan is being targeted, so this cute little girl was from the Su Clan... from their conversation, it seems that there has been a battle nearby; otherwise, at the speed the girl was running she would be
dead already. I better roll before a beast, or someone else clears the bodies.

I rolled in the same direction the man called Uncle Tian and the little girl had left. A few minutes later, I could feel a Death Aura... I focused all of my soul on sensing the right way, and it worked, I could feel the Aura better—it's that way! I changed my direction slightly to the right and moved toward where the Death Aura was pointing me. The Aura was getting stronger... there was something inside of whoevers Death Aura this was was telling me to rush there at my fastest speed, so I did.

  Roll, Roll, Roll.

  Ding!

Congratulations on learning Passive Skill Death Sense.

Death Sense Lv1 / 100 (0/10,000): Helps locate Death Aura in the area near the host’s body. Coverage 500m.

Great, Great, with this I can find more bodies and get more Death Points, good.

I'm already nearby the Death Aura, I will slow down as I approach it, I need to be careful.

  ◆◆◆

A man was observing the remains of the battlefield from afar, he came closer, moved through the dead bodies, it seemed he was trying to find something. The man reached out to a carriage, and with a slight touch the carriage turned into dust, also his facial expression started to distort.

“Damn, it's not here! The information was wrong.” Sighing, he turned around and left the scene of the battleground.

  ◆◆◆

In an attempt to scan the area, I expanded my soul, but couldn't find anything strange or any presence; I continued rolling and finally reached the battlefield the little girl from the Su Clan spoke of. There were around thirty to fifty bodies. If I could jump for joy, I would jump right now! Hahaha, finally my body will be complete!

Found a Death Aura. Wish to absorb it?

“This must be what happened before with the Death Points when I killed the man. Yes.” I stood there motionless, I could feel the aura of death all around me, it felt good.
