  “You guys don't find it suspicious... me being alone in a mountain? I could be dangerous you know…”

  They started laughing, “We are the Lighting Mercenary Group, how can you be suspicious, as experienced cultivators we know you bring no trouble. You must be using a powder to scare the beasts, it’s common sense! Right boss?!”

  “Of course! You have such good luck young man, we will protect you during the night, you will be safe with us.” The boss shamelessly said.

  I couldn't believe what lack of sense this Lighting Mercenary Group had… they didn't know how to cook at all, they were just giving me shameless excuses to steal my food away! When I was about to finally bite the last piece of meat a man appeared out of nowhere saying that he needed to taste it since the meat could be poisonous. No matter how I tried to explain that I was immune to poison the man only nodded at me telling me that bluffing was not a good thing for young boys…

  Fuck, how the hell did I end up with these weirdos! They didn't leave a single piece of meat for me to eat.

  “Boy, are you going to test your luck with the Sect Trials?” Asked the boss.

  “Right! I'm going to try my luck and join a good sect. This way I can develop and gather resources faster.”

  “I see…” the boss pointed in the south direction and said, “You should head that way, you will reach there much faster.”

  Without thinking too much I pointed in the right direction to Imperial City, “That's the right direction to Imperial City…”

  The boss laughed, “I was only testing you. You should know though that you won’t reach there in time. The Sect Trial date has been advanced two months…”

  “What!” I jumped up to my feet.

  “Are you kidding me? That's in one week’s time!” I shouted, the voice was so strong that some men fell to the floor. It took them by surprise, my sudden shout.

  Sacred Beast

  “That's in one week! Why did this happen? I have been traveling to reach there for many months.” This was pissing me off.

  “Yeah, I know. Many people are like you, when they arrive to Imperial City they too would be disappointed. The princess happened. She was a genius when she was small. An incident happened and both of her legs were paralyzed. It depressed the king very much. His daughter would amaze the whole country five years ago. It was too scary to look into his eyes, his looks pierced through their soul. Around him the vegetation decayed, it was withering at an insane speed, even the ground showed traces of dissipation. A one hundred meter big scythe appeared out of nowhere, the aura of that sword was worse than the boy.

  Several seconds later the massive scythe disappeared with all of the mountain peaks in view, half of the forest disappeared.

  It stupefied the ten men in front of the boy, it flattened the whole forest. The scythe which had disappeared, appeared again, this time it was bigger. Their brains couldn't fathom such an impactful memory and fainted, every beast within 1,000 kilometers fainted. There was something preventing them from dying though, otherwise there would be no life left within 1,000km.

  A loud roar sounded from inside the deepest parts of the mountain, clashing against the massive boy’s aura. It wasn't enough to dissipate the boy’s aura but enough to shake his soul a little. The massive beast underground in the deepest parts of the forest was struggling to remain conscious.

  A boy appeared out of nowhere as if he had teleported. The beast was a massive ancient snake, the boy in front of him moved his scythe and chopped the snake into small parts starting from the tail. The beast couldn't move, it couldn't resist its body being chopped up like minced meat.

  “Father, I don't think he is a suitable candidate. Look at him, he went out of control because of a stupid girl.”

  “Don't worry about it, for the time being, we can control the damage he does. The Death Core is in its early phases so it’s easy for him to lose his mind. He is developing in the right direction though.”

  “Father are you sure you chose the right soul? What did mother say?”

  “Mother agreed…”

  “Okay…”

  A slender and beautiful finger appeared out of nowhere in the sky, it covered the whole forest, and in an instant everything went back to normal. It suppressed the ominous aura, the scythe disappeared, the boy returned to normal. He was sleeping on the floor close to the huge snake chopped into tiny bits.

  “Poor small Sacred Beast... you are lucky I'm fond of snakes, though you are too weak. Let me help you out a little.”

  Light covered the huge snake corpse, its body was mending itself back together and getting smaller. A drop of blood flowed from the young boy to the snake covered in light.

  Minutes later the light disappeared, a small snake—pure white with sparkling black eyes was moving towards the young boy. It curled around his arms.

  Before fading away a gentle aura emanated from the finger covering the Lighting Mercenary Group.

  “You better not disappoint me.”

  Huh?! Did I fall asleep? What happened? I was talking with those ten weirdos… Where are they?

  My eyes met with darkness. Where the hell am I? I tried to move and touched myself, this kind of situation made me remember the times when I was a ball. Everything was in its place, my body was fine I was not a ball. After a while, my eyes saw in the dark thanks to my darkness talent. I was underground, that was clear.

  “System, what happened?”

  “We don't know, abruptly a portal opened below his feet, a light covered his body, with a flash in front of us there was nothing. Yan Xiang has disappeared.” Shu Er’s voice had a strong trace of uneasiness.

  “Don't worry Shu Er, you couldn't know. There was nothing you both could do, that was mostly due to a transfer array. Where are you?”

  “We are not exactly sure, we should be somewhere close to the center of the mountain.”

  Hm... a transfer array in the middle of the woods? Weird. It would be good if I could locate them.

  The Host can use the MAP function to locate his slaves.

  It displayed the MAP inside my mind, it's been a long time since I had used it. I could see two black dots close to my current position, both dots were around 700 meters away. I focused my mind on them, names appeared, Shu Yi and Shu Er.

  I kept moving forward down the descending path. After a while two beautiful women appeared before me.

  “Master!” Both rushed towards me hugging me. I patted their backs. They sure are too emotional, could it be the Death Soul Seal is affecting their emotions?

  After talking with them a little and calming them down, they thought they did something wrong. I reassured them there was nothing wrong, and they behaved correctly. There was something bothering me: was it a coincidence that Yan Xiang and I ended up in the same place? The System can't explain what happened, I remember nothing...

  Huh?! This place is full of transfer arrays. What is this place? Thanks to my soul, I detected something before stepping into a transfer array.

  “Don't move!” I shouted to stop Shu Yi, she was about to step in a transfer array. That was close. Shu Er also stopped moving.

  “Master, what's happening?” Shu Er asked with a soft voice, she didn't want to disturb Shu Yi who almost had one foot in a very dangerous place.

  “This traps us in a huge array formation. Yan Xiang didn't have a choice. These transfer arrays are moving on their own.”

  “Master you know about arrays?!” Both twins shouted in unison.

  “Don't get surprised, it is not the right time. We will talk later! If we don't stay together, we will end up getting teleported to different places.” Shit, who the fuck made this place... he had some kind of mental illness. What kind of purpose is this, you will get randomly teleported... if the other places are a bad place then...

  “Shu Er jump to the left now!”

  I wasn't sure if I had guessed it right or not... a few seconds later the array appeared where Shu Er was, she barely avoided it. Something must have activated this kind of place. My Array Master knowledge was barely helping, this kind of array was too complicated. It was above my level, thanks to the power of my soul more or less I could detect the subtle changes and guess the direction.

  It took us over one hour to get back together... honestly, my soul almost had to bear too many strains, but we barely made it. I was embracing Shu Yi and Shu Er, both women had a worried look. They had good reasons for having this kind expression on their faces, I could predict and avoid the transfer array but I couldn't know where we would end up being transferred. Eventually, a transfer array would hit us. I tried to understand this array, but it was in vain. I hope luck is on our side.

  It should have been a good night at Skyfall City. The Yan clan disappeared one year ago thanks to the war with the Su Clan. The Yan clan oppressed their business, for a brief moment only the Su Clan controlled most of the city and there was a better mood in the air. Even though the Su Clan members were still dominant, it was better to face only one tyrant than two tyrants fighting each other. The City Lord and the Su Clan had no conflict, so the city was growing and getting better, perhaps in a few years it would be possible to advance to a Lvl 2 City.

  At the Su Clan all that remained was the Su Clan head, he dispatched all the elites and members to kill Yan Xiang and protect Su Cai.

  The Su Clan head was facing down on the floor, something detached his arms and legs from his body. His face was white as paper, the floor was full of blood. There was no hope for him...

  “I know! I know! This is the Ye token, Ye Qing had the same token. He's inside the executioner grounds, please don't take my life I'm already a cripple...” Before he ended his last pleading sentence the red-haired young man crushed his head with his hand.

  “So he's still alive... It was true all along.”

  “You didn't die five hundred years ago. Ye Qing... or should I say Eternal Hell Spirit King.”

  Ye Qing was looking with a calm face at the young man who stood in front of him. “You took 500 years to get a clue. You are slow as always.”

  “Always acting arrogant, you lost your cultivation, you are no longer a Spirit King. I could crush you with a single thought. Do you think possessing a youthful body will help you out? Now give me the other Ye token. I will take the past friendship into account and I will not kill you.”

  Ye Qing was calm, he picked a stone from his pocket; it was red resembling a ruby. The red-haired young man trembled.

  “Y-y-you... how...” His head turned to look into several directions, his face was getting paler every second. “Impossible! You found it!”

  “You are still too dumb. Do you think the fight with the Insane Spirit King would be enough to kill me? I had my own plans, I discarded my body on purpose. I now have the means to transcend without the tokens you were so eager to find. Besides, I already handed them all out over the years. Perhaps someone will fulfill my mother’s wish.”

  Ye Qing crushed the stone he had in his hands. His eyes turned crimson, his hair red, he was no longer a middle-aged man but a youth. A sin
ister smile appeared on his face.

  A transparent barrier covered the city, everyone inside the city stopped moving. The red-haired young man trembled; even he a Spirit King a supreme being in the Seeking Continent, couldn't move.

  “The Hell PATH! So that's how it is! You are insane, you will kill us all. A hundred thousand people will die!”

  Ye Qing’s face was cold without an ounce of emotion “So?“

  Chapter 61

  Refining

  “Ye Qing, stop this. Do you wish to see the whole city destroyed?” the red-haired young man said.

  “Don't give me that crap. You don't care about the city you only care about your cultivation and your tiny insignificant life. This time I will succeed, I won't be like the rest of the Spirit Kings stranded in this Seeking Continent forever,” Ye Qing said with his solemn face.

  All the people in Skyfall City couldn't move, only their scared eyes could look around to watch the rest of them being in the same state. They didn't understand what was happening. How could they know this was Demon Ye’s work?

  Slowly people could feel their blood boiling, it started to burn their bodies from within. Their blood had reached an unbearable temperature and it was starting to dissolve their bodies. People could see men, women, children and even babies getting slowly dissolved into a huge drop of blood until there was nothing left, only a pure drop of blood, void of imperfections.

  There was only one thought in the heads of the whole city, Why couldn't I be weaker... That's right. The speed their bodies got refined into a drop of blood was torturous. The weaker you were the faster you would get refined. They wished to die the fastest they possibly could.

  For some of them, the process lasted hours, others lasted days, there was only one result anyway... death. Only two remained alive at this point.
