Show No Fear (Rising Goddess Book 1)

Then I turn to Drew. Kaden and Alex have moved to stand at his sides, whether to stop him from lunging at Colby, or to help him, who really knows? "And as for you three, I don’t really know what the hell just happened to me in the bathroom, only that a god known as Fear was trying to kill me. I’m almost certain that without Colby's intervention, I would have died in there. But rather than focusing on the bigger picture and what’s really important, you seem more concerned with this little pissing contest." My gaze goes between Drew and Colby, daring one of them to object. When they don't, I keep my focus on Colby. "Now, why did you say I was your Alpha?"
"Because you are," he says simply, as if it should be obvious.
I give him a murderous glare, telling him with my eyes that if he doesn't hurry up and explain, I may just strangle him.
He sighs heavily, meeting my gaze with a sad expression. "When Drew first came to the pack and I let him take the role of Alpha, I knew I would never be able to follow him properly. In my entire life, no Alpha has ever been strong enough to sway me, to make me feel like offering complete submission. Until you."
A flash of movement by the destroyed bedroom door catches my attention. I look over in that direction and see Bas, Dwayne, Kyle, as well as a few other pack members. They all look out of breath as they rush into the room, surveying the scene carefully.
Colby ignores them, his gaze locked on mine. "When everything happened with Emily the night we met, Kaden was nothing in my wolf's eyes. But with you, it was like there was this beacon, calling my wolf to you. I wanted to push you aside to get to Emily, yet my wolf was fighting me, telling me I couldn't hurt you. While some of that I realize was the instinct of a mate, it was also because of the power that radiated off you. You called to me in a way I couldn’t ignore, and I knew I would lay down my life to protect you."
Dwayne approaches me then, leaving his post by the door. "I know what you mean, Colbs. I feel it too. It's like I know technically Drew is supposed to be my Alpha and I'm supposed to listen to his commands, but my wolf tells me he is no longer my Alpha." Dwayne's gaze strays to Drew, who is watching with scrutinizing eyes, but I can see the shock he's trying his best to hide.
I watch the scene unfolding before me, and can't help my gasp of surprise when Dwayne drops to his knees before me. "I pledge myself to you now. My heart, my strength, my wolf, all in the name of serving my Alpha."
My magic rises up within me and instinct takes over, the words spilling from my lips. "I accept your pledge, Guardian, and gift you with the power to protect me, your Alpha and goddess."
I place my hand on his forehead and feel magic leaving me and intertwining with his very being. Colby drops to his knees beside Dwayne, looking up at me with adoring eyes. "You are my Alpha, my heart, my goddess. I pledge my life to you, now and always."
I remove my hand from Dwayne's head and cup Colby's cheek tenderly. "I accept your pledge, my sweet mate." Magic flows out of my hand, but since Colby is already my Guardian, and my true mate, there is nothing more I can offer him but to let him feel the love I have for him.
He smiles up at me, all tension from our earlier encounter with Fear just drifting out of his body.
My heart hums with happiness at easing the worry and fear in his soul. My body pulses with energy and I close my eyes, my body swaying with the feeling. This is what Love feels like. It's not some silly word that people say without even meaning it. No, Love is strong, Love is absolute, Love is power.
With each new thought, my power surges, growing stronger and my body begins to glow a bright gold. Drew, Bas, Alex and Kaden all drop to their knees, awe in all of their gazes as they look up at me.
I watch as one by one, the rest of the pack comes into our bedroom, all of them dropping to their knees and baring their neck in submission. As each of them falls to their knees, I feel a zap in my chest, like all of them are becoming a part of me, becoming my wolves.
The moment all of them are bowing before me, my power explodes out of me in a golden wave, winding through each of the new bonds within me, and I know that this is how I will beat the old god. By using Love to defeat Fear.
Afterword
Well… I truly hope you guys enjoyed the first installment in the rising goddess series. Book two, Finding Anger, isn’t due to be released until August 2019 at the earliest. I have a few other series to finish off, sequels to get done, as well as re writes for older series so my time can’t fit it into the schedule any sooner.
If I do decide to release book two earlier though, my group will be the first to know so make sure you check it out and keep up to date with my progress updates.
