Vampire's Babe

  Her expression was exasperated and she wanted to ignore me but I pulled her down to the kitchen.

  “So good to see you Aagi..”said Sipper closing me in her arms.

  “Why so special treatment?”

  “We are celebrating,Aagi joins us.”declared Kim.

  “I thought you two did not know...”

  “Sipper heard it just now.”laughed Kim.

  I was terrified,Jill did not speak,she was searching the refrigerator.There were two small cakes on the plate. “Why two?”I asked.

  “You are not the only one who lost her virginity to a mixbreed.”smiled Sipper.

  Jill stood straight,her back was still to us and we waited.She sighed heavily and finally turned.

  “After the library chaos,I wanted more,so he invited himself and I dished out.The host and guest were happy.”

  We enjoyed the cake and talked long,Ruth was still not coming and all that guilt within me was gone,I was growing and would transform into a beautiful witch,there was no doubt about it.The second phase of our life had already begun,we were dating and they were mixbreeds.

  “I think mixbreeds are good than wizards,wish I had met someone like them before Troy.”pretended Kim.

  “Too bad,stock is over.”I laughed.

  “I feel very good and blessed.Being a women is good,isn’t it?”I asked.

  “You are the first one to speak this.”answered Kim

  “Agreed.”joined Sipper.

  “I think being a women is beautiful and its more beautiful to be with the man who loves you.I love being a women.”replied Jill

  The door bell rang and we all jumped in unison.It was Ruth.No one moved and finally Jill went to answer it.There was no Ruth there, she came back furiously and more over scared.

  “What’s wrong?.”

  “Mr Bodwin is here.”

  “Why?.”

  “Chris is with him.”

  I was dead,no way,this cannot be happening,what the hell!.

  I could hear Ruth’s car stopping inside the gate.Double jinx,I was dead.It was going to be discussed in the open and in front of my sister.I was in a pool of tears and Kim was by my side.Sipper with Jill was trying to have a normal conversation with Mr Bodwin.

  “What’s the matter?.Who are they?.”questioned Ruth dropping her coat on a nearby sofa,her hands were crossed over her chest and she was not liking the intruders.

  “Mr Bodwin,Ruth,she is our guardian and Aagi’s elder sister.”

  “Ruth,Mr Bodwin,he is helping us with the play,Aagi is in charge.”

  “Nice to meet you.”she said shaking hands with him,he surely had a deadly smile,charming and mysterious,all of a sudden;few minutes before he was demanding madly if Chris had dropped in through this door .Jill and Sipper had hard time denying it.

  “Well what brings you here?”

  “You see Mr Doodbeek here is been missing from five in the evening till quarter to six,his badge refers to this location and no matter how many times I have asked him what was he doing here he wouldn't say.We have to follow certain procedures,cannot afford his parents accusation.We are responsible for the kids who stay at the boarding.”

  “It could be a mistake.”added Ruth silently.

  “No the badge which they have is actually carved in their skin,there is no denying he was here,I just want to know why he was here.”

  “Is this to do with Aagi?”demanded Ruth.

  “Yes.”answered Jill and I was shivering in horror.

  “Where is she?,we will get this thing sorted right away.”

  “I’ll get her,she is crying hard because she cannot solve her piece of homework,Mrs Wee did warn her bad.I’ll get her.”

  Kim was still by my side wiping the tears and straitening my hair.

  Jill came in the kitchen,she shook me well. “He was here to help you with the piece of music that Mr Bodwin had requested you earlier,you were already screwed by Mrs Wee and had no time for the music,hence Chris was helping you.You get it.You will lie with confidence.We still have the ball in our court.”pressed Jill.

  Kim brushed my hair again and her wand was up,the puff below my eyes had disappeared and I was pretty sober.Kim was right behind me and Jill was besides me.

  I repeated exactly what Jill had said,Ruth sighed and Mr Bodwin was also convinced.

  “Its already late why don’t you two join us for dinner.”smiled Ruth.

  Chris winked and I avoided him,Jill surely wanted to slap him but she controlled her temper.Kim and Sipper were already placing the cooked meal on the table.I sat right opposite Chris,it was hard to ignore his piercing gaze,the intensity in them was still driving me crazy and burning the pit of my stomach.His cold leg was in between mine under the table,forcing me to part my legs.I had to be annoyed but somehow I was enjoying it.Being out of sensible skin and doing wild things was a good change.Mr Bodwin and Ruth were caught in talking,she liked him strangely.Transparent specks,clean blue eyes and red lips,it was not hard to guess he was a mixbreed himself.

  “Well my mother was a vamp and father a wizard.I come from far back east.Our treasures were manipulated and handed to the government when you know,monarchs declined and there was no kingdom rule.”he said.She smiled and Jill was paying attention everywhere,her ears and eyes were wide open,her wand forced Chris to sit straight on his chair and I laughed at it,so did Chris.She was a grandma after all.“Hope to see you soon.”said Mr Bodwin.

  Ruth smiled,there was something she was hiding,I could not guess what it was.The time at the clock showed me we were having our dinner for more than two hours,how could it be possible,we just started.

  Jill was disturbed,it was so obvious to read her face.

  “And Agatha,don’t worry about the music,it will be taken care of.If you want Mr Doodbeek for further help feel free to call him or me.I have left my contact details with your sister.”He smiled.Chris winked and I winked back.Ruth did not miss it and I was in no mood to talk the same with her.

  Jill still tossed in her bed and Kim was snoring with Sipper.

  “What’s wrong?.”

  “I don’t like Mr Bodwin.”she answered.

  “Why?.”

  “Pretty long don’t you think.”

  “What?.”

  “Dinner.”

  Wishes Don’t Come True

  “Jill can we just drop the topic,I’m truly not interested in any of it.”I was honestly frustrated with her now,she just could not stop,Mr Bodwin had plagued her mind.

  “He has a dirty eye on Ruth,can’t you see?”she begged,Kim was driving silently but the look on her face was deadly,if Jill was speaking like this, then surely she saw something which we did not.Sipper asked seriously, “What makes you think that?”

  “It all started from the time we visited that vampire’s temple.”

  “I am still not getting it.”she said pushing past a newbie driver.Her face was red and Sipper too was holding something heavy in her small heart.

  “Ruth is behaving strange from that day,she has not confronted any of us till now though she knows we disobeyed the rule.Top it up,her own sister breaks the most important one and she is unaware of it.That’s not Ruth,there is something wrong about her,I am so sure.”

  “Where does Mr Bodwin fit into all this?.”I shouted,my voice was at top of my lungs,well,being Ruth’s sister was not an easy job,I was compared silently with her now and then.

  “Don’t you think it was unusually a long dinner?.”

  We did not speak,it was pretty long,but I did not recall any significant memory,it looked though like time was passing quickly,I remembered Chris pushing his leg but after that I was blank.

  “Where is the real doubt?.”thundered Kim.

  “His eyes,they looked at Ruth....”Jill was uncomfortable revealing it.I could sense what it was,the way Chris looked at me.

  “Worse than that.”Jill whispered.

  Kim had dashed Four vehicles in a row and I was mad, “Could you just slow down.”

  “I�
��m trying.”she said,her tongue cursing Mr Bodwin under her breath.

  “Do you think they will be okay?.”

  “Its alright,she has done that before.They will be fine.Sipper you took care didn’t you.”

  “Yes.”she replied acidly,she was doing the same,Mr Bodwin was our new target.He was Chris’s favorite teacher and he was his pet,my girls going against him was not a healthy sign.I had to do something.

  “Jill get a solid clue before you make us all jump to the same conclusion as you.”I stated.She stared at me for a long time,Kim drove smoothly and Sipper,she tried to look outside,her face was soft again.

  “I will,I promise.”the cold look in Jill’s eye was a sharp commitment,there was no way she was backing away now.Once the car halted,Jill was out in a moment.Kim did not like it and neither did I.

  “I know she is right,we are soon going to see why.”Sipper did eye me differently and so did Kim.It was so obvious what they were thinking and somewhere it was true too,I feared loosing Chris more than Ruth.I had become a slave to a boy who I just met,my sister who lived for us giving up her childhood,I just forgot about her.So selfish.I did not go to the class,in fact I sat in the library,Chris was by my side in a minute.

  “Hey there beautiful,why are you so sad?”

  “Its them.”I choked.

  “Its alright,cats play and fight together.”he smiled,I had to smile with him,he was so good,not judging or comparing me.I could just be myself with him,it was the same with my friends but they were just annoyed for the time being.

  “Smile and let them know you care.See all of them will be coming to you in a minute.”

  I had to kiss him,he did not pull away,his hands gently slipped down to my curves,how could I forget the pure cold touch.The next moment when I opened my eyes,I was locked inside a vacuum with him,not caring for a single eye that looked through us, I was willingly walking with him to the darkest corner of the library.

  The floor was cold but the heat that we exchanged helped me survive it.I was completely insane,he was all over me,madness clearly reflected in his eyes and I encouraged him more.

  “Its been long....”I moaned.

  Reluctantly he pulled himself away,helping me dress,his hands still brushed my skin while he let the loose top cover my body.

  “Still hungry?.”I teased very well knowing the answer.

  “Yes.”

  “You should always have your breakfast early morning and then drop in school you know.”

  “I love the fresh flesh that’s not easily available in the market.”he smiled,pulling me on top of his stomach.I was his baby,he was my man.It was so fast and good. “Can I come tonight?.”

  “Yes.”there was no going back,he was all over me.I wanted him,the same way he wanted me. “We should go to the classroom.”he suggested.I groaned.

  “If they see me with you,I will be....”

  “Fine,you go first and then I will come.”

  I got up and last look at him showed that he was still happy,his smile was devious,there was no way I was giving up now,two rounds of sensual ecstasy were more than enough for me to decide.I felt comfortable around him and so did he.

  Jill smiled at me,I smiled back.Kim was struggling with her notes and Sipper was well Sipper,she was dead on the last row,hiding her face.

  Finally the bell rang and I still could not see Chris anywhere near the class,this did put me down,I wanted his one look so badly but Jill distracted me well.It was good to have her as my friend.

  “So did any of the wishes come true?”

  “No.”cried Sipper sadly.

  “What did you wish Kim?”

  She smiled,sometimes she did manage to hide the best Kim,Kim with a heart of gold. “Not wise to say the wish.”

  “I think my wish is not coming true.”continued Jill.

  “Why?.”I asked.

  “Well,I did not kiss his heart.”

  “Me too.”groaned Sipper.

  “Me three.”Kim was devastated.

  “Me four.” I added casually.

  “So now you can tell me what were you wishing for?.”

  “I wished that once in my lifetime I see my parents who actually loved me.”her eyes were brimmed,poor Kim,having parents in high class society was a boon as well as a curse.

  “What did you ask?.”

  “I just wanted to see my mom,how did she look and why did she left,why she did not call in so many years.”replied Jill,her throat was choked but she managed each word with ease.

  “I just wanted to be human or a witch,anything,which gives me a healthy body.”laughed Sipper.

  “Your wish was truly difficult to guess,but how come Rocky set his eyes on you,we thought....”Kim let it trail and Sipper enjoyed her explanation.

  “Well I wanted a body that held a heart which would attract only a true soul who would stand by me forever.”

  “Interesting.”winked Jill, “nailed it beautifully, a body and a guy in just one wish.”

  “What was your wish?”Sipper turned to me.

  “Well,I did not wish for anything,I already have.”

  My reply was the most simple one of all,they did not doubt it for a minute,of course,I had her,she never let me feel what it was like to be lonely.

  Jill smiled her best,the same sharp glint was still there in her eyes,there was no way she was giving up and I was glad for it,but the question that nudged my mind was,would I be able to give up Chris if that was what it led to,the answer for it right now was no,it was difficult.

  The little conversation in the corridor was healthy,so none of the wishes were coming true,Jill was scribbling the words on the same borrowed book .Kim laughed pulling it away from her,Sipper enjoyed repeating her usually clean words loudly, ‘Wishes don’t come true’.

  Cold Eyes

  Dinner with Ruth for the first time was silent and scary,she was completely pale white in color,her lips were blood red and she had no energy within her.Jill eyed me to break the silence,hinting bad to have a conversation with her.I had no choice,Kim and Sipper too were mutely agreeing with her.

  “You know don’t you?.” I tried.

  “Yes.”her voice was melodious and for some reason unusual,she was definitely in pain.

  “Why are you....”

  “Its pointless isn’t it?.”she answered and we all stared at her in total disbelief,was this the same Ruth.

  “Ruth are you alright?.”asked Jill,she could not hide her horror,Kim and Sipper were staring at her silently,so was I.

  “Yes.”her reply was not convincing,what kind of change was she undergoing,I was baffled.

  “Ruth,say something,this can’t be you,I mean how can you allow us to...to....to cross lines.”Kim was speaking for the first time,she was so good at targeting the actual subject.

  “You all are growing up,I am just a nanny to you or a guardian but I am not your parent.So its just...”her spoon dropped in the bowl and Ruth was on the ground,she was shivering bad,Jill was shocked and I understood late,Ruth’s entire body was ice-cold.

  “Call the doctor?.”shouted Kim.

  She pulled Ruth,and carried her upstairs,in her room,Sipper was in the kitchen boiling hot water and having some face towels ready,Jill was by the telephone making it dial itself,the last number was to the doctor itself.I was stone cold,still in the frozen state,my heart was beating wildly,it just occurred to me life without Ruth,what would my life be without her?.

  Jill pulled me by her side and we were in the room,Sipper was right after us,the hot bowl of water was following her and she had the hot towels ready.Kim placed one gently on top of her forehead.

  What would life be without Ruth?What would it be?.Jill answered my question easily, “Body without soul.” There was no denying the same,she was my only family and the best person I knew,she never encouraged me into anything ill and till date she allowed me ample of space in my life.I loved her and equally Chris,everybody present in the room were the people around who my life circled regularly,havin
g anyone down would mean something which I had experienced years ago,I did not wish to experience the same,my parents death was still an unsolved mystery and here Ruth was giving me the same clues.I knelt by her side and kissed gently on her forehead.

  Kim snapped instantly, “she is not going to die,save those tears for later.” Sipper was already crying,her hands were shaking while she changed the towel on Ruth’s forehead.Jill stood straight,there was no way she and Kim were accepting anything stupid.

  “Hello girls,let me check please.”

  An age old witch just flew in from the balcony in Ruth’s bedroom,the weather outside was suddenly rainy and it was thundering loud.First time we noticed the same.

  “Stupid weather.”she grumbled,throwing her wet raincoat on the nearby chair,Sipper folded it instantly and placed it on the table.There was nobody who was messing in my sisters bedroom.I loved her for that.

  “You are?.”questioned Jill stepping right in between her and Ruth.

  “Mrs Wanda Bellcum,the doctor from the Cataphotia hospital,in New witch zone.Ruth comes to me for regular check-up.”

  “Regular.”I repeated not believing my ears.

  “Yes.She has to.”she replied,her wide eyes more wider than an owl,her long face was a scared puzzle in front of us,she nodded her head gravely and sighed slowly,her expressions changing all of a sudden, “oh Ruth,she did not tell you’ll,did she?”

  “Tell us what?.”sobbed Sipper,wiping her tears immediately.

  “Ruth is suffering from a curse.”

  This piece of news sent us back into our thinking,we all were growing up,her words circling my mind again,she wanted me to have someone in my life so I wouldn’t be lonely like her.She ignored our mistakes so that we would know how to live without her.

  “This is not true....say it please...”Jill finally let that one tear escape her left eye.

  “She is not going to die,she is not going to die...”Kim was still the strong and stubborn head,refusing to accept the facts and most importantly the predictable consequences.

  “She won’t die.He will not let her die.”agreed Mrs Bellcum,she gulped few words down her throat,finding it difficult to explain us,we were not anywhere near sober,scared to death and on the verge of breaking,it was very easy to read us from our faces alone.
