  Chapter 1

Carolyn Jackson sat looking out of the window over the perfectly manicured grounds of the Williams Facility for Mental Health. The lawn was lush and green with neatly trimmed bushes and trees. She thought back on the events that led her here to this posh facility. Her oldest son Sean had brought her here over a month ago after she'd pulled a gun on him in an attempt to take her youngest son, Trent, home with her. She had given Trent up for adoption as a baby seventeen years ago and he'd searched and recently found her and his brothers.

Seventeen years ago, she'd been married to one man and impregnated by another. She'd had no one to turn to, as well as no one to blame but herself. She had allowed her own lust and thirst for the finer things in life to rule her. Justin Black had known her desire for affluence and had used it to his advantage.

Justin Black was Trent's biological father. Carolyn had engaged in an affair with Justin that she lived to regret to this day. At the time of the affair, her husband Xavier and Justin Black had been in business together. In addition, Justin's son Jordan and her son Sean had been and still were the best of friends. They all had lived mere feet away from each other. Years prior to their indiscretion, Justin had caught his wife Joanna in an affair with another business partner and had immediately divorced her then banished her from both his and Jordan's lives.

Carolyn could still recall that fateful day that had triggered the affair with Justin. Her husband Xavier had been acting strange for months and she couldn't figure out what was going on with him. Xavier had never been extremely rich like a Justin Black, but he'd had drive and ingenuity that she found attractive and he had tried to keep her in the lifestyle she desired. Lately though, he'd been distant and frequently missing in action. They hadn't shared a bed in months and she'd assumed he was having an affair.

Thinking her husband was infatuated with another woman did something to Carolyn. She was a beautiful woman and always had been, with dark brown eyes and smooth brown skin that turned heads wherever she went. She kept herself in shape with a personal trainer and regularly scheduled body treatments. Her self-esteem took a huge blow when she longer had the attention of her husband.

Carolyn had been raised poor and she was determined never to return to that lifestyle. She knew her looks and body could attract the type of man who could give her the life she always desired and she'd done just that with Xavier Jackson. He'd been an up and coming businessman and had showered her with whatever her heart desired, that is until their son, Sean was born.

Xavier doted on his only son and planned to give him the world. Carolyn began to feel slighted by all the attention he placed on the boy so whenever Xavier had hinted at having another child, Carolyn had adamantly refused.

Suddenly she no longer had his attention at all and that did not sit well with her. After feeling as though she was competing with her son for Xavier's affection, she now had to deal with another woman.

That was not something she was willing to do...

Carolyn arrived at her husband's office to confront him about his recent behavior. However, his secretary informed her that he was out of the office for the day and Carolyn was confused. Xavier had not mentioned being out of the office at breakfast that morning.

She turned to leave just as Justin Black entered the office.

Justin Black was the epitome of a gorgeous, sexy, wealthy man. He captured her with a dark penetrating gaze that gave her internal chills. Slowly that gaze traveled down her body and back to her face, leaving scandalous flames in its wake. Wickedly he smiled at her before licking his full luscious lips.

Carolyn took in the tall frame, dark eyes and beard. She knew that no matter how good he looked, Justin Black was just no good. He took what he wanted and didn't care about anyone or anything. When Xavier had decided to go into business with Justin, Carolyn had been leery. However, it had been a great business move for someone like Xavier to connect with a man as powerful as Justin Black.

“Carolyn,” that deep baritone voiced her name.

  Carolyn swallowed. “Hello Justin.”

“Xavier's not in today. Is there anything...I can help you with?” he asked.

Carolyn shook her head. “No. Thank you Justin.”

Justin smiled. “Why don't you come into my office and let me get you some coffee, or something. You've come all this way.”

Justin turned to the secretary and instructed her to bring coffee for both him and Carolyn into his office. He walked over to Carolyn and took her gently by the arm, guiding her into his office.

Once inside she turned to him.

“This really isn't necessary Justin,” she told him.

Justin took the seat behind his desk studying her as she sat down. “You looked upset Carolyn. I just wanted to make sure you're alright.”

Carolyn crossed her shapely legs in the chair and his eyes went directly to her thighs. His secretary entered with two cups of coffee and handed one to Carolyn then placed Justin's cup on his desk. She quickly exited closing the door behind her.

“I'm fine Justin,” Carolyn told him while taking a sip from her cup.

Justin smiled. “Yes, you are Carolyn. You always have been.”

Carolyn sat her cup aside and stood. “Goodbye Justin.”

By the time she made it to the door Justin was behind her with his hand holding it closed. He whispered into her ear.

“You're a beautiful woman Carolyn. A woman like you makes a man want to give her the world. If he can...”

  “I'
m a married woman Justin.”

“I can Carolyn. I can give you whatever your heart desires.”

Carolyn lowered her head as his nearness was making her dizzy. “Please, let me leave Justin.”

“You know where to find me Carolyn,” he said before stepping back and allowing her to exit.

For Carolyn that was the beginning of the end.

  *********

Sean Jackson drove to visit his mother Carolyn at the mental health facility he had admitted her into weeks ago. Sending his mother to this place had been difficult but necessary. He’d made sure that while she was here, she was given everything she needed.

After his mother had pulled a gun on his fiancée Lily, he’d had no choice but to seek outside help and from his interactions with her doctor, he felt that he’d made the right decision. His mother seemed to be getting better. At least he hoped that was the case.

Entering the building, he headed to her room and found her staring out of the window. She turned to him and smiled.

  “Hello Ma.”

Carolyn looked into the face of her son, so much like her own. As much as Xavier had loved Sean, he was the spitting image of Carolyn with medium brown skin and dark brown eyes. He was dressed in a tailored tan suit with brown shoes. He’d finished the ensemble with an off-white shirt and silk tie.

  “Hello Sean.”

“How are you today?” he asked taking a seat across from her.

Carolyn nodded. “I'm taking it one day at a time and learning who I am in the process.”

Sean watched her. “You look lovely today.”

  “Thank you Sean.”

Sean straightened his tie. “I wanted to come and see you today to tell you that I'd like to bring Lily to meet you. We haven't set a date for our wedding yet because we're hoping that you'll be well enough to attend,” he told her.

Carolyn smiled sadly. “She wants me to attend, even after I pulled a gun on both of you?”

“Lily is an incredibly kind and loving woman,” he told her.

  “You love her,” Carolyn acknowledged.

  Sean nodded. “Very much.”

Carolyn nodded and turned back to the window.

“Trent would also like to visit you,” Sean informed her.

She turned back to him. “Really?”

“Yes. He wants to have a relationship with you, without the drama,” Sean finished pointedly.

Turning away again she said, “The way I’ve treated you Sean, why haven't you given up on me?”

  Sean paused.

“You're my mother and I can love you being imperfect, but I won't tolerate you being erratic.”

Still gazing out of the window she asked, “Do you still love me?”

  “I never stopped.”

She turned back to him. “I'm sorry Sean.”

  “I know.”

“I've been working with the therapist to deal with my trauma and pain. I realize that I've taken a lot of that pain out on you unfairly,” she told him.

Sean reached over and took her hand. “I'm always here for you Ma. I love you.”

Carolyn looked at her hand in his and lifted her other hand to stroke his lightly. They sat that way during his entire visit and they chatted some more until Sean announced it was time for him to leave.

“I will be back to see you soon Ma,” he told her standing.

She looked up at him. “Thank you Sean.”

“If you need anything let the staff know.”

“I will. This place must cost a fortune.”

Sean smiled down at her. “There is no price on your well-being.”

“I can't wait to meet your Lily.”

“She can't wait to meet you either.”

Sean ended the visit with his mother and went to meet with her doctor. Inside his office Sean took a seat and waited. He looked over the doctor who was the founder of the facility. Dr. Paul Williams was a distinguished older gentleman who looked to be in his late fifties with salt and pepper hair and mustache. He wore designer prescription glasses that sat on a broad nose over full lips. His deep dark complexion was nearly the color of onyx displaying his African heritage proudly.

“Your mother is improving Mr. Jackson. We haven't seen as much of the anger and violence. Unfortunately she's suffered a lot of hurt in her life,” Dr. Williams stated.

Sean nodded. “When she came to my house the night she had the gun, she touched on that. She said that no one has ever loved her completely.”

“Yes. I'm currently working with her on that and I want to help her get to the point of loving herself.”

Sean leaned forward. “My younger brother wants to visit her. Do you think that's a good idea?”

  “Trent?”

  “Yes.”

Dr. Williams nodded. “She speaks of him often and I think a visit would be good if it's not going to be detrimental to him.”

Sean nodded. “I'll talk to him again to see if that's what he still wants.”

“We're providing your mother with the best care available Mr. Jackson.”

Sean stood. “For what I'm paying, I expect no less.”

The doctor nodded. “The Williams Facility provides excellent services. I make sure of it.”

Sean smiled. “Keep me updated with her progress.”

  *********

That night as Carolyn prepared for bed she went back to her musings. She had shared a good sex life with her husband Xavier for all the years they'd been married up until he'd stopped coming to their bed, but the sex she'd shared with Justin Black had been hot, explosive, naughty and definitely addictive.

The encounter at Justin's office had planted the seed that germinated and grew daily. His intoxicating scent had stayed with her and she'd envisioned that dark gaze on more than one occasion. The next time Xavier had gone missing in action, she'd gone to the Black residence to see Justin.

Just what her objective had been, she still did not know...

Inside his home office, Justin welcomed her and had her take a seat on the plush furniture. She watched as he walked back around to his desk dressed in a crisp white shirt and dark slacks that complimented his firm backside.

“Do you know where my husband is?” Carolyn asked him.

  “Should I?” he asked.

Carolyn looked at her hands. “I know that you two work together. Do you have any idea where he is disappearing to?”

Justin stood and walked over to her as she watched him. “I have no idea where your husband is Carolyn, but I know that I am here right now.”

He stopped in front of her and she looked up at him.

“Why are you doing this Justin?” she asked.

  “Doing what Carolyn?”

She stood to face him. “Why are you trying to start something between us?”

His hand went to her waist. “It's already started Carolyn.” His other hand joined the first and he pulled her to him.

“Where is your husband right now Carolyn when he should be at home making love to his beautiful wife?” He stared down at her.

“Does he spread you out and feast on you like the finest delicacy?” he whispered.

Carolyn placed her hands on his chest. “Justin...”

Justin lifted a hand to her face. “Does he make your rain come down like a waterfall before you erupt?”

“I should go. I wanted your help,” she told him.

“I'm here to give you whatever you want Carolyn.”

He lowered his face to hers.

“What do you want?” he whispered.

Carolyn looked into those dark eyes and became entranced. The pair stood staring at one another and Justin waited as if he had all the time in the world.

  “Nothing?” he asked.

  She waited.

  “Everything?” he whispered.

  She nodded.

“It's yours.” Justin lowered his head the rest of the way and took her mouth in a torrid kiss that swept Carolyn away.

  Xavier
was and always had been gentle and kind. Justin Black was neither. He was demanding and rough; and Carolyn found it more exciting than anything she'd ever experienced.

Justin moved away and locked the door to his office before turning back to a trembling Carolyn. He gave her that wicked smile as he approached.

“If you don't want this you'd better say so right this moment, because when I start I'm not stopping,” he warned with flashing dark eyes. Carolyn was beyond return at this point as she touched a hand to his chest.

“I don't want you to stop.”

He smiled before he began kissing her and walking her back towards his desk. When the back of her legs hit the desk, he lifted her in the air and placed her on top of it. Carolyn wrapped her arms around his neck as he proceeded to invade her mouth.

A brief knock on the door lifted both of their heads.

  “Who is it?” Justin barked.

  “Jordan.”

Justin sighed. “What is it Jordan?”

“Uh...can Sean and Izzy stay for dinner?” he asked through the door.

Justin ran a hand down his face watching Carolyn and could sense the change in her.

  “Yes Jordan,” he answered.

“Thanks!” Jordan replied moving away from the door.

Carolyn looked up at Justin. “Please let me down. My son is here.”

Justin nodded and stepped back. He watched as Carolyn stood and straightened her dress. She looked into his eyes.

“I'm sorry Justin. I shouldn't have allowed this to happen.”

Justin smiled. “I'll be waiting for you Carolyn and next time... there will be no interruptions.”

  Chapter 2

The next morning after her encounter with Justin in his office, Carolyn sat at the breakfast table with her husband and son. Xavier looked very tired as he drank his morning coffee.

“Ma, can Jordan and Izzy have dinner here tonight? We ate at Jordan's last night,” Sean asked his mother.

Carolyn looked at her son. He was thirteen now and growing into a young man. She thought about what she'd almost done last night and how that would have affected him. Carolyn vowed she would not let that happen again.
