  About the Author

Doug and Linda Raber continue to build their writing legacy with the release of their fifth novel, BEST MAN. The Rabers made their debut as novelists with the 2012 release of FACE OF THE EARTH, which they followed up with THE SAPPHIRE LEGACY in 2014, EASTERN COLONIES in 2015, and WARLORD in 2017. They are masters of the thriller genre, bringing the reader a scintillating mix of political, medical, and scientific elements. They have developed their books by leveraging the skills they honed during careers investigating the interplay of cutting-edge science and U.S. foreign and domestic policy.

BEST MAN represents a departure from previous books in that Doug Raber is credited as the author, while Linda Raber is shown as the editor. This change is temporary, however. The partnership remains central to their books, and the next release will mark a return to joint authorship.

Both Rabers studied chemistry, and Doug spent twenty years on the faculty at the University of South Florida before moving to Washington, D.C. to work on science policy at the National Academy of Sciences. He directed studies on topics ranging from chemistry R&D to forensic analysis of bombings and the use of technology to combat terrorism. He is a sought-after consultant in science policy arenas.

After a stint as a research chemist at the National Institutes of Health, Linda moved to the American Chemical Society and worked for more than twenty years as a science and government reporter at Chemical & Engineering News.

The Rabers are longtime residents of the nation’s capital. Their intimate familiarity with its physical and political landscape forms an integral part of their novels.

ROCK CREEK, a Will Desmond Novel

Secret Service Agent Will Desmond’s home is attacked by gunmen, and a photograph leads him to Hamburg, Germany. He learns that the men who attacked his home are involved with trafficking young women from Eastern Europe, and there are indications of illegal drug traffic from Asia. Desmond must uncover the links between a seemingly random series of violent events, and he must stop an international smuggling ring before he becomes the next statistic.
