Then I finally do it. I finesse my way into a deeper area with a few clever keystrokes and find several feeds I’ve yet to see. I click one, which brings up an overhead view of the entryway of a house. There’s nothing to see, so I click the next feed. More shots of the interior of a house, but I pause at the bedroom and zoom in, heartbeat picking up when I spy the corner of a familiar piece of art that’s hanging on the wall over the bed.

It’s Toni’s house. Does she know her brothers have cameras in every room? Isn’t there a limit to the level of surveillance required to keep her safe?

I keep clicking, aware that none of this really answers the burning question, but I can’t help myself. Further down I find a video feed of Toni’s shop, which shows four tattoo artists hard at work. I smile when Sam lifts his head and laughs at something, then Toni walks by and pauses at his station to kiss him. Those two are so perfect together.

  “You go, Sam.”

Maybe they have cameras someplace useful. Like Arturo’s office. Or Drake’s. Though what I really need is to find an archive to sift through, but it isn’t as if I have a date to reference. So I keep opening each of the feeds one by one.

Until I get to one that makes my stomach drop and my skin go cold.

It’s so surreal, seeing myself sitting on my bed, open laptop in front of me. Almost like I’m having an out-of-body experience. But there’s no mistaking it—I’m looking at myself, at this very moment.

Which means somewhere, they are watching me too.

  About Ophelia Bell

Ophelia Bell loves a good bad-boy and especially strong women in her stories. Women who aren’t apologetic about enjoying sex and bad boys who don’t mind being with a woman who’s in charge, at least on the surface, because pretty much anything goes in the bedroom.

Ophelia grew up on a rural farm in North Carolina and now lives in Los Angeles with her own tattooed bad-boy husband and six attention-whoring cats.
