"Oh, shit!"
I dropped down to my knees where Jahzara laid and cried my soul out. I didn't want no shit like this to happen. She just snapped. What was I supposed to do?
"Somebody get her some help!"
"Imran, we need to get out of here. I can hear the police coming," Rain said, tapping me on my shoulder. "She's dead."
"Nah, I'm not leaving her. I can't just leave her here," I protested.
"Imran, she's gone, and we gotta go. You wanna go to jail for this shit?" Rain pulled at my shirt.
I could hear the sirens growing closer and closer, but I didn't want to leave Jahzara laid out on the ground like this. With all of my might, I picked her up from the ground, tossed her over my shoulder, and headed for my car. Each step felt like my feet were covered in quick sand.
Rain ran ahead of me to open the back door of the car, but it seemed as if I would never make it. My strides seemed like they were in vain, like the effort that I put into them was going unnoticed. I fell to the ground unable to go any further and almost dropping Jahzara, but I held on. Rain came back over to me and helped me get back to my feet.
"Aarrgghh!" I growled as I pushed all the way up.
It felt like I’d ripped everything apart in my gut with a bunch of butcher knives. I knew I wouldn't make it much longer without medical care, but it didn't matter. I just wanted the girls to be safe. That was all I wanted.
Rain helped me get Jahzara into the backseat. Then, we both climbed in, rushing to get out of there before the police could arrive. Dead bodies were everywhere. There were witnesses by the dozens, and the killers were directly on the scene. That was the perfect setting for the law.
I pulled the car out of the parking spot and smashed the gas to get us out of the lot. I couldn't help but constantly look through the rearview mirror at Jahzara. The sadness I felt for what I'd done plagued my mind heavily. She didn't have to die. It didn't have to come to this.
"Imran, pay attention to the road!" Rain yelled, and I focused my eyes back on the road ahead.
"I’ma take… her to the… hospital," I said, gurgling over the blood that continued to creep into my throat.
"She's dead, Imran. You're the one that needs a doctor. Your skin is turning fucking purple and shit!"
"I'm a… be okay. She might… still have… a chance," I managed to get out before coughing uncontrollably.
"Imran, are you okay? Imran!" Rain yelled. "Imran, be careful you're ‘bout to run into the—"
It was the last thing I heard Rain say before the car slammed into the guardrail on the side of the road, and the car flipped numerous times.
