Electric Fog

He led me to the giant bathroom that was covered in white marble. The tub in the middle was as large as a swimming pool. The ceiling above was glass which gave a view of the starry sky. “Wow, I did not get that nice of a bath in my room.” I teased. “Care to try it out?” His grin was dark. My body tingled all over. Before I could answer I fantasized about both of us swimming in the nude and holding each other under the stars. My cheeks went red as I noticed he was staring at me. “Please tell me you can’t read minds now.” I said in a gasp. “No, but it is pretty evident by the color of your cheeks what you were daydreaming about.” He winked and smacked my butt.

We went through the bathroom and reached a wall that was covered with books. “I guess a bookshelf in the restroom isn’t the worst idea, don’t tell me it has a secret room.” I joked. His expression grew serious. “Well it does.” He lifts the book and the wall slid back. I covered my mouth to hide my grin. How could an alien planet be so cliché? The room behind the wall was covered in screens. They weren’t TVs’ but projections of the castle and the grounds.

“This is how the king is to keep an eye on the people. Nothing happens without the king’s permission. But I haven’t had to shoulder that reasonability yet.” “You’re not the king?” I asked surprised. “I can’t technically become crowned and given the powers until I wed.” I mulled that over. “Then why not wed now? Wouldn’t it help to get more warriors?” I said as it connected in my brain. “It’s not that easy, you need to know this is what you want or what we want.” He said as if it pained him to think of leaving Octavia. “I want you, wherever you are. I don’t know what it means to be queen but I could figure it out. Nothing can be more important than saving lives.” I said bravely. “You have no idea the pressure I am under to deliver those people and to keep the kingdom afloat. If we wed now and you change your mind, it would come crashing down.” I felt the heat gather in my cheeks. “I won’t back down; I am here for you and the Octavian people. I won’t change my mind.” He sat at the control chair. “You don’t know that yet, but to be sure let’s wait until we get the people back safely and we will decide then. Your family will think you died if you stay here, can you live with that?” A pain pricked my heart as the realization of my former life trickled in. I could see Mom, mourning over her only daughter. She would move on but Peter he was still young. Would he get over being abandoned by his only sibling? My heart ached thinking of his reaction.

“I am sure they would get over it.” I lied trying to fight back the tears. “No need to decide too soon.” He stood up and held me close. The shocking fire burned between us soothing the pain in my heart. I didn’t know exactly what I was asking for when I chose to come here to be with him. But I knew my heart would never be full without him by my side. Now more than ever I was ready to battle for Octavia, for our love and for our future.
