Come Back To Me. Page 5

“It wasn’t meant to be given to my first love. It was meant to be given to my last.” I told him, still looking up into his eyes. Charlie didn’t make a sound for probably a few seconds, although it felt like many minutes had gone by before he said anything.

“Is… that how you still feel?” Charlie asked with a hint of fear in his voice.

“If it wasn’t, I wouldn’t have continued.” I told him.

“How can I ever top that? I don’t think I could ever imagine anyone saying something so perfect to me in my entire life.” He said and I smiled up at him right before he leaned back down and kissed me so passionately, that I felt a new charge run through my body. Charlie finally picking up where we had left off at that one moment of his discovery gave me such a strong feeling of perfectly placed with Charlie. I couldn’t imagine that magical moment to feel any more special than Charlie made me feel before he knew I turned in my V card, as well as after.

I know I am taking a huge chance on someone like Charlie but it just felt right. I never felt surer of anything in my life, including my time with Rick. I wasn’t professing my unwavering love to Charlie just yet, but I wasn’t going to lie to him either.

Over the next few months, Charlie and I did cover a great deal of territory between the two of us. I was finally able to put my past in the past. I brought Rick’s engagement ring over to his parents finally. They refused to take it, told me to make some jewelry out of it. It was given to me in love and I should keep it for that same reason.

I permanently left my job. And Charlie finally got me to move in with him, four months after that first fateful night together.

Turns out Charlie is a closet computer geek, who creates computer games. Needless to say, he is very gifted. He is contracted out to different companies and the 7 figures he makes a year, and on his terms and time frames give us a great deal of much needed time together.

Rick’s parents got along with Charlie really well. They gave me their stamp of approval immediately.

Nash and his wife couldn’t have been happier for us as well. Nash and Charlie get along like two long lost brothers. Considering my stupid brother can’t get over the fact Charlie had been the one to create his latest obsession of the game he plays on the computer. I think Nash is actually in love with Charlie too.

It was now the fourth of July and we got everyone together to celebrate at Charlie’s home. Nash walked around in a trance like state looking through Charlie’s house, causing his wife Tiffany to slap him up side his head a few times, making me laugh once so hard, soda came out of my nose.

Charlie caused my next blunder of laughing fits when he asked Nash to be the very first living soul to try his game out, requesting feedback. Nash, being the dramatic nitwit that he is, fell to his knees and bowed to the ground a few times saying he would worship Charlie.

Charlie had his family over as well for the fourth of July. His sister Sabrina and I were instant best friends. She was a bit younger so she had informed me I was to be her ‘BFF’ from that point on. I couldn’t find a reason not to be, so I went along with it. Charlie’s brother, James and brother in law, Tommy were simply a breath of fresh air. James was chastising my brother Nash for giving Charlie a bigger head. James tried to explain how to hold out for a better deal and not to goad Charlie’s already inflated ego. Nash had no clue as to why James didn’t idolize his younger brother Charlie. Nash certainly thought Charlie could nearly walk on water as it was. James just mumbled something about another admire of his mindless brother Charlie. I could be wrong. My senses are a bit off right now. Charlie and I had a huge surprise to give both families today. I couldn’t be more nervous. Charlie sat everyone down, said he wanted to make an announcement. Nash, looking like a kid on Christmas morning and James growling and mumbling some curse words at Nash, both made me laugh so hard I needed to make everyone wait until I got back from the bathroom because I was worried I was going to pee on myself.

After Charlie gave a warming glare to the two of our brothers to play nice, we each handed them an envelope. Having them each opens it at the same exact time, everyone began to scream and squeal, running up to us to squeeze the stuffing out of us. We were flying them all out to Italy to be married the following month. Neither one of us wanted anyone other than immediate family with us nor having wanted to take my honeymoon there with Rick previously, Charlie made some sort of promise to Rick the last time we went to the cemetery. We went to see Rick’s grave to tell him that is name sake was due around the beginning of December. Just so happens to fall right around the original Rick’s birthday. So since we didn’t want to wait too long into the pregnancy, we decided to put everything together for a month from today. Charlie created his own engagement ring for me, a bit much for the center diamond weighing in at 3 carat’s. It was a cushion cut diamond. But the little diamonds there were around the wedding band I was suppose to wear from Rick, Charlie had the jeweler place those diamonds around his that was the huge 3 carat center diamond. Charlie has never excluded or found anything misunderstandings or difficulty with Rick and the past I shared with him. If anything, Charlie made sure I never forgot Rick. Luckily both of us stopped having bad or annoying nightmares in reference to Rick. But every time I seen the war wound Charlie had down the center of his chest, I always thought of how grateful I would be to Rick for saving Charlie and also bringing him to me.

Yep, life does go on, and any time I feel worried or concerned, Charlie’s warm embrace, and Rick’s beating heart always put my mind at ease.

  The End.
