He spotted a figure, half-submerged in the mud. Joy seized his heart at the sight of that familiar jacket. Overhead, thunder rumbled. Rain began to pour. Heavy cumulonimbus clouds rolled over Arthur’s Seat on a rising wind. The wind swept the lingering fog from the Pit away. He glanced up; the storm was settling over the city. It would continue to pour for a long time yet.
