The Girl and the Wolf

"Your lies are as obvious as your mustache, Mathis." Atticus came into the room after him, and behind him followed Nathaniel, looking like a proper gentleman as always.
Hywel's eye began to twitch as he glared at the three intruders standing before him. "What on earth are the three of you doing in here?" he asked, gritting his teeth in irritation.
"Mathis wanted to spy on your date with Garnet." Nathaniel answered blatantly with a nonchalant countenance.
Mathis' head snapped towards him and he gasped in shock. "Button! How could you!"
"I've only allowed Garnet to call me by that name, you, on the other hand, must address me as Sir Nathaniel." The tall blonde said, adjusting the glasses on his nose.
Another revelation after coming to live in the castle was that Hywel had started courting the high-spirited brunette. He had initially wanted it to be a secret from the others, but with nosy troublemakers such as Mathis and Atticus around, any hope for it to remain a secret was lost.
The prince's pale face instantly flushed into a vibrant shade of crimson and he started to scold them for their prying while the two troublemakers stifled their laughter and Nathaniel watched them with mirthful eyes. Garnet watched them in contentment. She had honestly never felt this happy in a long, long time. Only after her father's passing had she finally realized that she didn't have any actual friends because for most of those years since her birth, her father was her only companion, and when he died, she was left with none except for Knox.
But she wasn't living a lonely life in the village any longer, she was in the castle, and she had friends, people who were willing to do anything for her and stay by her side through thick and thin. She also knew that thanks to Mathis and Atticus and their gossiping ways that the whole kingdom had already found out about her new relationship with the second prince as well as the new heir to the throne, and it was evident that people had started to treat her differently. They would often refer to the pair as the future king and queen, but to Garnet, she and Hywel would always be the girl and the wolf.
