Wrapping her arms around his neck, she nodded and closed her eyes. “I trust you. Just tell me what to do.”

“Just hang on to me.” Devlin jumped to the hood of the SUV, hanging on to the opening of the sunroof while Caleb gradually slowed.

Plastered to the windshield by Devlin’s large body, Stormy heard Caleb hurriedly jump out of the SUV, slamming the door behind him.

  “Is she hurt?”

Stormy reached back for him, struggling to fill her lungs with fresh air.

“I’m ’kay. Just can’t see. Dirt.”

Devlin unhooked her from his belt. “I’ll take care of her. Let’s move.”

Caleb pulled her against him. “I’ve got her. You drive.”

Seconds later, she found herself sitting on Caleb’s lap as they raced ahead. “Where’s Lucas?”

Caleb leaned her sideways and used a bottle of water to wash her eyes. “Hanging off of the tractor trailer.”

  “What?”

Stormy struggled to sit up, but Caleb pulled her back. “Be still. We’re coming up to the side of it now. He sees that you’re safe. Now he’s going inside.”

  “He’ll get hurt!”

“Stop trying to wipe your eyes. Your hands are filthy. Just be still one damned minute!”

  “Please help him.”

“Ace and Rafe are on the other side. They’re stopping now. The mood Lucas is in, Ace is more worried about Lucas killing Dominic than anything else.”

Caleb poured more water over her eyes and wiped them with a clean cloth, enabling her to see the concern in his eyes. “Okay, baby?”

  “I’m fine.”

He handed her a bottle of cold water, eyeing her watchfully as she drank it. “Slow down or you’ll get sick.”

Devlin braked to a stop. “They’re stopped.”

He jumped out and disappeared from view, the sounds of shouting coming from the other side of the eighteen-wheeler the only sounds on the deserted road.

Caleb set her aside and jumped out. “Stay here.”

  “Like hell.”

Running after him, she followed him around the back of the SUV and the trailer where she’d been held to the other side just in time to see Lucas yank a bloody Dominic Ricci from the driver’s seat.

Ace started forward with Rafe at his side. “The cops are here, Lucas. Let them handle it.”

“They had the chance to handle it before.” Lucas punched Dominic again and again, not giving the man a chance to defend himself.

When Dominic went down, Lucas picked him up again, one-handed.

“They let him hurt her twice. He won’t get near her again.”

“No. He won’t.” One of the officers shared a look with Ace and stepped forward. “He’ll be in jail, and I don’t think he’ll make bail again.”

Devlin cursed. “You didn’t let us know he made bail last time.”

Stormy grabbed Caleb’s arm, wincing when another of Lucas’s punches sent her kidnapper sprawling. “Stop him.”

  Caleb frowned. “Why?”

“Christ.” Stormy rushed forward, grabbing Lucas by the arm, holding on when he attempted to shrug her off. “Lucas! Stop! Please.”

Her plea seemed to finally get through to him, and turning, he reached for her, yanking her against his chest. “I was so fucking scared.” Holding her away from him, he checked her over, seeming oblivious to the cops helping Dominic to his feet. “Are you okay? Did he touch you?”

Dominic rushed to answer, his eyes wide with horror when Lucas’s gaze zeroed in on him. “No. I didn’t touch her. I swear.” He kept glancing at the officers. “Please. Just lock me up. Get me the hell away from him. He’s fucking crazy.”

Ace inclined his head. “You’d do well to remember that if you ever think of coming after her again. The other two standing over there wouldn’t mind having a piece of you, too. You should thank your lucky stars that she interfered, or Lucas just might have killed you.”

Turning, Ace winked at her. “Come on. Let’s get you and Lucas checked out at the hospital.”

Lifting her against his chest, Lucas started carrying her back to the car. “I’m fine.”

Stormy nodded. “Yeah. So am I.”

Lucas stopped, frowning down at her. “You need to be seen.”

Stormy shrugged, seeing Ace try to hide a smile out of the corner of her eye. “If you don’t need to be checked out, then neither do I.”

Lucas looked down at his hands. “Most of the blood’s his.”

“And I only got a little dirt in my eyes and was thirsty.”

Frowning again, Lucas sighed. “You’re gonna be a pain in the ass about this, aren’t you?”

“Looks that way.” Grinning up at him, she slid a hand into his hair. “I did warn you.” She cupped his cheek, turning her face to hers. “You ready to throw me back?”

“Fine. We’ll both go get checked out.”

“And I want to check on Logan.”

Rafe came closer with a smile. “Linc called a little while ago. Logan’s fine. He has a slight concussion, and they’ll keep him overnight for observation. Your friend Kathy’s with him.”

  Chapter Twenty-Eight

Lying on his side, Devlin smiled when Lucas pulled Stormy closer.

Lucas hadn’t allowed her out of his sight since the ride to the hospital and kept her close to him even in sleep.

Caleb crept in, smiling at the sight of Lucas and Stormy before moving to stand beside Devlin. “The damned storm’s gonna hit soon. I hope like hell she sleeps through it. She’s been through enough today.”

Taking Stormy’s hand in his, Devlin sighed, remembering the horror of finding her chained to the floor of the truck and his relief at finding her alive.

“Agreed. I’m scared of falling asleep.”

Lucas opened one eye. “I’m not. Shut up.”

Chuckling, Caleb moved away to sit in the chair, propping his bare feet on the mattress by Devlin’s feet before settling back. “Point taken.”

An hour later, Devlin grimaced at the first crack of thunder, turning toward Stormy as Caleb got to his feet.

Her small whimper tore at him, and he propped himself on his elbow to reach for her. Rubbing her arm, he kept his voice low. “Shh. You’re okay, baby.”

She continued to whimper in her sleep as the storm grew stronger, and when she grabbed her throat, Devlin knew that the nightmare had taken hold. “No. Please.”

“I can’t let her go through this again. Stormy, wake up.”

Her next strangled cry woke Lucas, who turned her in his arms and gathered her close.

“Wake up, Stormy. Now.” He tossed the covers from them and began stroking her arms with long, firm strokes. “Open your eyes and look at me.”

The hard edge in his voice must have gotten through to her, waking her, but she was already inside the nightmare.

“No. It hurts.” She reached a hand down to press it between her legs.

“No.” Lucas bent over her, his nose almost touching hers. “Never again. No more hurting. Look at me, Stormy. Devlin, turn on the light.”

Stormy gripped Lucas’s shoulders. “No. Take me like this.” A sob escaped, ripping Devlin’s heart to shreds. “Make it go away.”

Lucas kissed her. “Yes. We’ll make it go away together. This has nothing to do with pain and fear. This is about pleasure and love, isn’t it, baby?”

Stormy nodded, the shimmer of tears visible in the next flash of lightning. “You love me, don’t you?”

Lucas slowly eased her panties from her, leaving her dressed in only Devlin’s T-shirt. “How the hell could I not love you? I need a condom.”

“No.” Stormy shook her head. “I want to feel you.”

Devlin sucked in a breath, sharing a look with Caleb.

Lucas smiled. “You will, but we’re not making a decision like this right now. When you want a baby, we’ll plan it together.”

Lucas shoved his underwear out of the way and rolled on the condom before cup
ping her slit, easing a finger into her pussy. “This doesn’t hurt at all, does it?”

Stormy shuddered. “No. But it’s still there. I don’t want to remember.”

Lucas slowly entered her, earning a small moan of pleasure from her. “Who’s inside you, baby?”

  “You are.”

  “Say my name.”

  “Lucas.”

  “Again.”

  “Lucas. Please take me.”

Holding her, Lucas rolled to his back. “No, baby. You take me. You’re in control.”

Devlin watched, mesmerized by the sight of her. “Jesus.”

Another crack of thunder made her jolt. “Lucas!”

  * * * *

“I’m here, baby.” Lucas slid his hands up her thighs, desperate to penetrate her nightmare and replace it with the memory of something loving and strong. “That storm outside is nothing compared to the storm we make together, is it?”

Sitting up, he took her hand in his, placing it over his heart. “That thunder’s my heart pounding for you. Only you.”

“Yes.” Throwing her head back, Stormy began to move, slow hesitant movements that increased in momentum.

Terrified that he’d do something that scared her, Lucas breathed a sigh of relief when Caleb moved in behind her.

Cupping her breasts, Caleb nuzzled her neck. “I love you, Stormy. Nothing but love and loving from now on.”

She lifted her arms, wrapping them around Caleb’s neck. “You keep me safe.”

Her eyes opened, and she looked at Devlin. “You rescued me.”

Devlin smiled and bent to kiss her. “My life wouldn’t be worth shit if I lost you. I love you, baby. We won’t ever let anyone hurt you again.”

Lucas helped her move on him, watching her face in the flashing of lightning. “You’re in charge now, baby. You have all the power.”

To his relief and delight, Stormy giggled. “Remember that.”

She shivered at the next rumble of thunder. “Lucas?”

Moving her faster on his cock, Lucas pulled her closer, taking her lips with his in gentle kisses meant to comfort. “I’m here. I’ve got you. I’m inside you. Caleb’s behind you. Devlin’s next to you. Always.”

Caleb caressed her hair. “You’re surrounded by love.”

Stormy slid her hands to Caleb’s shoulders, leaning back against him. “And strength. You make me feel so safe. I want you all again. Together.”

Devlin reached into the drawer for a condom and lube. “I get her ass this time.”

Caleb groaned, and moved to stand beside her. “And I get that mouth.”

Devlin entered her, moving slowly, his shallow strokes into her ass and Caleb’s into mouth designed to give her pleasure and let her feel them all around her.

Moving their hands over, they guided her gently toward her orgasm.

Caleb withdrew from her mouth with a groan and touched his lips to hers. “I’m not coming in your mouth.” He sat next to her and caressed her breasts. “That storm outside can’t hold a candle to the storm in here, can it, baby?”

Lucas slid his thumb over her clit, smiling when she cried out and clenched on him, coming almost immediately. “You are safe, baby. And loved.”

His own release followed hers, a slow gentle roll that suited him more than the violent orgasm he’d experienced when taking her ass. He gathered her against him, aware that both Devlin and Caleb crooned to her while running their hands over her trembling body.

With a groan, Devlin eased from her ass. “So good, baby. Christ, you turn me inside out.”

Stormy smiled at Lucas’s moan, her pussy clenching on him at the next crack of thunder. Lifting her head from his chest, she slid her hands into his hair and pressed her lips to his. “Thank you.”

Lucas smiled, taking her hand in his and kissing her palm. “My pleasure. Do you think you can sleep now?”

“Yeah.” She let her head fall against his chest again, smiling when another rumble of thunder blended with the sound of his heart beating. “You know, if you keep this up, storms will arouse me instead of giving me nightmares.”

Devlin laughed at that and turned on the light. “Then we’ll all be praying for rain.”

Caleb wrapped an arm around her, lifting her from Lucas’s cock. “Come on, baby. I’ll fix you some tea, and we’ll watch the storm together.”

In the end, all four of them ended up sitting in the living room, watching the storm while a fire roared in the fireplace.

All three men had dressed, but Caleb insisted on holding her on his lap wrapped in a blanket.

Rubbing her back, he set her empty cup aside. “You okay, baby?”

Lifting her face to his, she smiled. “I’m great. Lucas and Devlin are sound asleep, aren’t they?”

Caleb chuckled, wondering if he’d ever felt such deep contentment. “You wore Lucas out, and Devlin was awake all night, watching you. Go to sleep, baby. I’ve got you.”

  “You know something?”

  “What’s that, honey?”

Stormy sighed, looking up at him with a smile. “Only two things ever scared me. My nightmare and loving someone.”

Caleb cupped her cheek, running his thumb over her bottom lip, reveling in its softness. “And now?”

“I’m not afraid of my nightmare anymore because I know at least one of you will be there.”

  “I’m glad. And loving someone?”

“Jeez. Now I love three someones, and it doesn’t seem so scary anymore.”

Caleb touched his lips to hers. “Good, because you’re stuck with us.” Holding her close, he glanced at Lucas and Devlin to see that both of them smiled.

“Go to sleep, baby. Your new car’s being delivered in a couple of hours.”

Stormy leapt to her feet, surprising him. “What? What car? What color is it? I wanted to pick it out myself. I want one of those big SUVs like yours.”

Devlin rose, bending to lift her over his shoulder. “You’re getting a safe car. Be still, damn it. I swear I’m gonna gag you and tie you to the bed. It’s the only way to get any sleep around here.”

Stormy’s giggle could be heard from down the hall. “Don’t you dare try any more of your kinky stuff with me!”

Laughing, Caleb met Lucas’s look of amusement. “Damn, she’s something.”

Lucas grinned and got to his feet. “She sure the hell is. I’ll put on the coffee.” Shaking his head, he paused at the doorway. “You realize that we’re marrying her, don’t you?”

Caleb nodded. “Yes. But convincing her won’t be easy.”

  “Nothing of value ever is.”

Stormy suddenly appeared again. “Can I really be married to all of you?”

Caleb inclined his head. “In Desire, you can.”

Stormy pursed her lips, apparently considering that. “Well, all right then.”

She turned and walked away but not before Caleb saw her wipe her eyes.

He waited several minutes before following Lucas into the kitchen. “We still have some work to do with her. She hates talking about feelings.”

“I know, but then again, we’ve all been that way for our entire lives.” Lucas turned from the coffee pot. “She knows we love her, and we know that she loves us. It’s more than any of us thought we’d ever have.”

Sipping his coffee, Caleb walked quietly down the hall, looking in to see Devlin wrapped around Stormy, both of them sleeping deeply.

Love changed everything, something he hadn’t really understood before.

He understood it now, and it humbled him.

  He’d protect it—and her—at all costs.

  Nothing else mattered.
