The war rages on. The blood continues to shed. It all becomes silent. Only one sound.

  A scream.

  Of Nadora.

Her body is covered in ice while she tries to move her arms to hold her mind which Adrian is taking care of while I continue to turn her blood into fire.

  “Stop It!”She shouts once more.

  One last trick.

I lessen the intensity of fire inside her and focus it on something else.

  Her pet.

Due to its heavy fur, it immediately catches fire and disintegrates into dust in mere seconds.

  Nadora lands with a thump!

  CHAPTER-41

  Nadora lands with a thump!

We all stop and take out our weapons. My sword. Adrian’s shield. Mirella’s whip.

“You made a very big mistake,” She says, rushing forward towards us, her eyes turning grey all of a sudden.

“Don’t look in her eyes!” I scream and duck instantly, avoiding her dagger but one poor Nemeses and a couple of Hinak warriors fail to lose eye contact and turn to stone on the spot.

I look sideways to Adrian and motion him to get her from right while I take her left side.

I really don’t know how we are going to defeat her when we don’t know who or where she has hid her spirit in.

I look around and stand up straight, aiming for her heart with my sword, but she stabs me in the side of my stomach instead. She turns it around inside me.

“How does it feel, huh? Someone wretch a knife inside you and twist it like this,” she says and twists it once again. For the first time, a scream escapes my lips.

“Yes. That’s how I felt when your father deceived me. When he married my sister because of who I was. Because she was more important than me. Because, because, because. All useless reasons. One main reason. He used me to get to your mother. And now, I will have my revenge. By destroying everything he loves. One by one,” she says as she takes the knife out of me.

My vision starts to get clouded. I don’t know what is happening anymore.

I can faintly make out the body of Nadora holding her dagger over me when suddenly, she stops. Freezes.

She turns around and I realise why she froze.

Her cape. It has been wretched away from her by Mirella.

Her cape is what makes her immune to everything.

Without it, she can’t stand a chance at surviving.

I seize the moment. I focus all of my energy on one thing. The Sword of Fire.

The next moment, I am holding it in my hands.

I get up and hobble a little, but manage to pick up the sword despite the searing pain in my side.

I drive it straight through her heart, showing her no mercy at all. I twist it around and stab her again and again until I am satisfied.

I take the sword out as she falls on the ground.

I expect her to speak a few words of hatred. Or to promise her return.

She does not do any of that.

“A parting gift. Until we meet again,” she says, he gaze directed towards someone to my left.

  Altin.

I try to tell him to look away but I am late.

He freezes. Green smoke surrounds him.

“This curse shall taken off by the power of the shadows,

For it has been cast by their power.

It shall be until all the powers reunite

Or shall end with the loss of a lover’s life,” her voice booms over all others and I see as Altin turns to stone from flesh and bone. She disappears. Her words echo in my ears. “I won, princess. I won. I’ll meet you soon. Once more. Different time. Different place. The next time, it will end with you.”

The Nemeses too have vaporized into thin air, along with Nadora.

Silent tears line my cheeks as I make my way towards Altin.

I run a hand over his once alive body which has now been turned to stone.

“What now?” I ask to no one in particular.
