Reign To Ruin

“You have nothing to say?” Her voice rose. “It is one thing to grab unwitting people from all over the Lands, but children? How can you be so focused on your throne that you would keep them in that dungeon?”
“Did they look like they’re being hurt?” he snapped. “There are much worse things that could be happening to them than lying in bed dreaming.”
Amara clenched her jaw and kept her gaze straight ahead. “If that is even true,” she muttered. “I have no idea what is happening to them.”
Malloron spoke harshly. “Then you shouldn’t speak of it.”
They continued the rest of the way in silence and by the time they reached their destination, she seemed to have calmed.
As they arrived at his largest and most sophisticated casting room, he slowed to a stop outside. "Are you ready? I have already prepped the room. I will tell you what to do once you get inside."
Amara took a breath and nodded.
Malloron opened the door and they both stepped in. They stood on one side of a circular room that was completely empty. The floors and walls were reinforced with a special material that absorbed stray magic used during experimentation, which could be potentially dangerous if it came into contact with certain types of stonework normally used to construct buildings. At the center of the ceiling, a round opening gave them a view of the inky night sky. With no moon tonight, the sky’s depth seemed endless.
"The room is magically charged," Malloron said to Amara. "It is thick and requires you to draw it to yourself."
"How do I do that?" she asked, glancing around nervously.
"If you jump into the air, the magic will hold you," Malloron explained. "It will feel as though you are being supported by a weightless substance, similar to when you are in water." He looked down at her. "Have you ever swam in the lake?"
"Not here," she replied. "But I have swum before."
"Good. You need to swim to the center of the room. You need to be perfectly center from both the ceiling to the floor and from all sides."
"How will I know where to go?"
"Once you reach the center, the magic will activate. Once you are in place I will tell you the next step."
Amara nodded. Bending her knees slightly, she jumped into the air and the magic in the room buoyed her midair. She swam to the center. It seemed as though she was a powerful swimmer, and Malloron took delight in watching her body as it moved through the air.
As soon as she was center the magic swirled around her, and then tightened and become harder. She yelped in surprise, as it locked around her and lowered her so that she hovered a few inches off the ground.
Malloron focused his mind.
Stretching his arms wide, he focused on the magic beyond the room in the sky. He pulled it into his body and fed it to the tenebris. The magical force reacted instantly, pulling in all directions and storming around his whole body. Malloron fed more magic into it, until it felt like it would rip him apart, and then began to weave the spell. "Morath laleshraa vay frow teege con elleth lo veyan." The tenebris gathered in the pit of his stomach and swirled into a vortex. “Soreth pengorath carrth mon zeythen dorrech." It twirled up the center of his torso and shot out the crown of his head. "Freetha halloyon tarth vay serrin." The tenebris dispersed to the curved edges of the room where it twisted and crackled and contorted of its own accord.
“What the fuck is that?” Amara yelled from the middle of the room, her eyes wide.
To her, the tenebris must look frightening. Outside the body, it existed as jagged and aggressive fragments of magic, that moved as though it could think. It looked nothing like normal magic, which was smooth and fluid.
Malloron strode toward Amara. “Look at me, Amara.”
She dragged her gaze from the tenebris. “What is it?” she asked, panicked.
“It’s called the tenebris, it is a special magical force that—”
“It looks like the white fire from the Wastelands!” she exclaimed. “It’s dangerous!”
Wastelands? That was in the Eastern Lands. So she was indeed from the Omega village there. “It can’t hurt you,” Malloron said, stepping close to her. “Nothing will hurt you in here.”
“It came out of you,” she breathed, disbelief on her face. “It came out of your head.”
“Yes, it has been inhabiting me.”
“Why?” She glanced back at the force as though it was about to attack at any moment. “Why would you have that in you?”
“It allows me to use the Talent as much as I want without going insane. It is what makes me powerful.”
Her face contorted. “You keep that inside you so you don’t go mad? Doesn’t it hurt?”
“Yes,” Malloron admitted. “It hurts me. But it won’t hurt you.”
Amara stared at him, realization dawning. “Fuck, no!” she shouted. “I’m not having that in me.”
“It won’t hurt.”
“I don’t care!”
Malloron wrapped his arms around her and drew her close to him until their bodies pressed against each other. “Amara.”
She slowly calmed but her fright was clear on her face.
“It won’t hurt you,” Malloron murmured to her, his mouth inches from hers as he looked into her eyes. “It hurts me, but you are an Omega. It will not hurt you. Your body is different.”
Amara breathed heavily. “How can you know?”
“I have tried it before.”
“Did it work? Did the Omega survive. Why do you need to put it in me?”
“Amara,” Malloron growled. “Nothing I am about to do will kill you, do you understand? Nothing. I want you with me.” He ran his hand over her body, and felt himself hardening. He pressed her against him. “You can hold it without pain, I cannot. I won’t let anything terrible happen to you. Do you believe me?”
She calmed as she stared at him. “No,” she said firmly. “But that is the nature of the game, isn’t it? I agreed to this and you’re going to do it anyway.”
His heart sank in a tremor of annoyance at her lack of belief in him… but she was right.
She closed her eyes and took a breath. “I’m ready.”
“Good.” Focusing his mind, he began to say the spell.
Each spoken spell was recorded in the Ancient Tongue, the language that had proven most effective to connect with magic. Saying any of the words incorrectly could dramatically affect the outcome of any spell, since the magic required the intended sounds. Similarly, making any changes to a spell necessitated careful consideration. The Ancient Tongue was much more sophisticated than most of the languages that dominated the Western Lands now. Without knowing the nuances of the language, it was easy to make mistakes. Most Talent-crafters didn't bother to create new spells or adapt existing ones since the craft was dangerous. Magic was pure energy, and as much as it could be calm, fluid, and mellow, it could also be wild, uncontrollable, and destructive, like many other pure and natural energies.
But Malloron was not most Talent-crafters. He grew up studying the Ancient Tongue, and various spell books, and survived his fair share of experimentation. He’d been rehearsing this spell for as long as he had been looking for an Omega.
As he spoke, the tenebris moved along the curved wall of the room. It sped faster and faster, and rose up to the ceiling until it circled around the opening drawing streams of magic into it from the sky. As he said the final words, it spiraled down in a thin stream and entered the crown of Amara’s head.
Her whole body went stiff and began to shudder as her head tilted back. Malloron held on to her, until the magic keeping her in place expelled away from her. Magic couldn’t be maintained during the acquiring process. It threw him a few steps back as it dispersed, but an amazing thing occurred; she still hovered.
He grinned. It was working.
Once the tenebris inhabited her fully, he would be able to feed from her when he needed it.
As her body stopped shuddering, a powerful wave of her scent rushed over him.
It was an intricately beautiful aroma at full strength, and immediately he was rock hard. That was the strongest he had ever experienced her scent before and suddenly it was all he could think about. The animalistic savagery in him rose tenfold and he prowled back to her as he sniffed. He needed it. Now. The yearning consuming him was so fierce, it was already a torment, and nothing else mattered.
As he reached for her, her face tilted back down, and he was pleased to see that her irises had turned golden. He growled in satisfaction. She had entered her Haze and was ready for breeding—just as it should be.
“Alpha,” she breathed, staring at him in wonder.
He tore away her tunic and pressed his nose against her neck as he slipped his hands into her panties and tore them off. He ran his nose down her body as he lowered to knees, eager to fully experience the scent that had remained out of reach for so long. When he reached her pussy, he pressed his nose in and inhaled.
His groan vibrated throughout the room and the Omega whimpered. She opened her legs, and he began to feast on her succulent pussy.
She wrapped her legs around his head gyrating her hips to feed him and, as her scent overwhelmed him, invading his every sense, he experienced a devastating ecstasy. This was his mate. She belonged to him. Her scent and her slick and her pussy were made for him to claim and own.
She cried out as she came in his mouth, her body jerking and writhing as he held onto her thighs. Without waiting another moment, he rose and stripped, his eyes on the moaning Omega hovering before him. He pulled her to him and she opened her legs eagerly, her eyes on his. No words were needed. He penetrated her with one thrust, and the sensations that rocked him turned his savagery into a frenzy.
They fucked liked they had never experienced each other before. His mouth and hands were everywhere on her, taking what was his, claiming every inch. As she hovered, he fucked her in every position he could maneuver her into, holding her secure and rammed her deeply and thoroughly. She opened herself up to him in full submission, whimpering and whining and running her hands over him as though he was amazing to her.
As their crescendo approached, their animalistic grunts and violent slapping of flesh propelled him into a state of carnal bliss. He moved her upright and held her against his chest as she came, quivering and gasping against him. The clench of her pussy sent him over the edge. His orgasm soared through his body and mind in a jagged and delicious rush, and he erupted inside her. On his last thrust, he slammed his knot into her, and the swollen base of his cock locked them together, stretching her wide around him.
He encircled her with his arms and drew her to his chest as they both panted, the aftermath of their mating tingling in his extremities. As he slowly became aware of his surroundings he was shocked to realize they were in the casting room. The tenebris was still entering Amara in a long thin spiral and she still hovered in the air, although now her pussy was locked with his cock, providing that incredible squeeze, as he stood in the center of the space with her.
He stroked her back, breathing her scent deeply now that it finally surrounded him, full strength. “Amara?”
She hummed against his chest and pressed down on his knot, sending a beam of pleasure through him. He let her rest on him, both of them content.
They stayed in position for a long while, exhausted, but as Malloron’s knot began to shrink, he watched the last part of tenebris spiral all the way into her and she went limp.
The room was suddenly still and much darker.
He carefully slipped out of her and carried her out of the room.
***
Malloron rarely ever used his bedroom. He usually spent his nights in the temple, but now he no longer had the tenebris inside him, maybe he could make use of his bedroom again. Maybe he could spend time in there with Amara.
As he carried her to his room, he marveled at their incredible mating. It had been the most magnificent thing he had ever experienced. And there was nothing royal or regal or refined about it. It was pure sensory rawness, and he couldn’t wait to experience it again.
His mood rose at the idea that he had his mate. An Omega that was his who was beautiful and perfectly suited to him, but who could also carry the tenebris without damage. Now he didn’t have to choose between insanity or immobility—now he could simply choose his mate.
He let himself into his room and was appreciative that the candle-lamps had already been lit.
He carefully lay Amara down, but as her head hit the pillow, an icy horror embraced him. No! It wasn’t supposed to happen again. Not to her.
Her gorgeous blue eyes were completely white. Her irises gone, as though her eyeballs had rotated in their sockets.
She was completely blind.
CHAPTER FOURTEEN
AMARA
Everything was white. Everything was silent.
He lied.
He lied to her face, once again.
He gave her the most incredible experience of her life; an Alpha with a golden glow around him as he took her, rough, claiming, owning her whole being in the most incredible way. She would never have dreamed that being with an Alpha could be so soul-wrenching, so fulfilling, that it could make her feel so complete. And not just the act of the mating, but the way he touched her, looked at her, held her to him—he was perfect in that moment. And his scent… it was beyond belief that anyone could smell so good, so sexy, so powerful.
And then, as soon as his cock shrunk, releasing her from the beautiful stretch that held her wide open, everything faded. His scent faded, the urge to mate with him lessened, everything faded to white. Everything became quiet. Until the world did not exist.
She could feel his hands on her, touching her frantically, rubbing her, brushing her forehead. But after a while, the touching did not mean anything. She could not communicate with him. And she wasn’t even sure she wanted to.
He told her that it wouldn’t hurt her, that there was no a danger to her, and that had been true. But now she was unable to see and unable to hear, just like his last queen. Maybe this is what he meant all along—maybe this is how he wanted his queens.
Saying goodbye to her team had been the hardest thing ever. They had tried to persuade her not to make this sacrifice, urged her to reconsider, promised to rescue her, but she had been adamant. King Malloron wasn’t a man to fuck with. Even if the entire population of Omegas in the Western Lands joined together to challenge him, it would still be a risk. She was the one that brought his attention to them, she was the one that had to suffer. She had failed them. She had failed the children. If this was her life now, blanket whiteness and silence, then so be it.
When the feel of his hands finally disappeared, she relaxed into the softness underneath her.
She was unable to tell time passing. Before long, his hands were back again, his arms around her, his hard, large body, next to hers. She did not bother to respond by touching him back. What was the point? He used her as a vessel to hold this thing that made her nothing more than a shell.
That was what he wanted. That was the most important thing to him, and so that was what he got.
After a long while, after his hands had gone again, she quietened her breath, wondering if there was something more, something beyond the silence that she could try to correspond to, anything that could break the silence that was becoming maddening. Could she still use the Talent? Would the suicide protocol apply here? The Mothers had given her a choice to choose him, and in a way, she had made that choice. But now that her team were safe, she did not have to stay with him. It was the nature of the game.
She breathed shallowly and listened, sending her awareness out beyond herself. She was surprised to find vibrations in every direction, strong vibrations, small vibrations, soft vibrations, in every direction she sent her awareness to.
In one area, lay a large mass of vibration, complex and pulsing. She pulled herself toward it, and she felt the air move around her. Had she moved? She felt nothing around her, not the bedding und
er her body or even the ground at her feet. Trying again, she felt the air shift.
Slowly and smoothly, she navigated herself closer to the vibration. Maybe once she arrived, she would be able to feel something more, anything more, than this white silence.
