Seducing the Attorney (At First Sight Book 5)

Tony opened his jeans. A soon as the zipper moved lower his cock sprang free. He kicked off his shoes and stripped. Lauren ran her fingers along the length of his erection. He groaned. “To bed.”
The desire in her eyes and her soft touches brought him to her side.
Lauren backed to the bed and pulled the covers down. As she leaned over Tony’s breath caught. Damn, she was perfect. A momentary thought about protection vanished when she held out her arms in invitation. No time to dig through his pockets. He wanted her now. He slid beside her and caught her hands in his. He held her arms above her head and positioned himself.
The desire to bury himself took control. Next time he would do this right. He released her hands and sank into her. “Damn, you’re tight.”
Her eyes flew open. “A problem?”
“A delight.” He brushed her lips. “Feels good.”
“For me, too.” She lowered her eyelids. “Been awhile.”
With a finger he traced her lips. “How long?”
“Four years.”
Those words raised his urgency several notches. He caught her mouth in a kiss that deepened as he thrust and retreated. The heavy sound of their breathing, the soft moans she made and the liquid slap of their bodies caused him to push toward completion. He raised his head to gulp deep breaths.
“Hurry, hurry.” Her voice rose in pitch.
Her inner muscles tightened around him. Her release neared. So did his. He pumped harder and harder into her tight sheath. His back arched. He roared and emptied until nothing remained.
Tony collapsed and caught his breath. He rolled to his side and held her as thought he would never let her go. Moments later he remembered this was for tonight and not forever.
Too bad tonight couldn’t last.
Why not?
I’m not for long distance relationships.
He stroked her back and kissed her. “Incredible.”
“Yes.”
She sounded as dazed as he felt. The fantasy from last night flashed in his thoughts. “Want to shower with me?”
“I would like that.” With a sigh she slid her hand along his chest.
What he saw in her eyes signaled danger. The hazel depths were dreamy. Her gaze evoked thoughts he fought. Did she imagine she was in love with him?
Couldn’t happen. He couldn’t add another layer to his life or his.
Her mouth brushed over his. Tony sucked in a breath filled with her essence. She moved away and walked toward the bathroom. A flicker of a promise startled him. No way. The promise was for sex, nothing more. He sat on the edge of the bed until he heard a rush of water.
As though a bungie cord connected them he followed and stepped into the shower. Water cascaded over her breasts. Tony pulled her close. The constant flow rained on his back and matched the pounding of his pulse. The kiss continued until he was forced to take a breath. Though he was armed and ready for another session he wanted more play time.
He soaped his hands and stroked her body. The rise of her nipples caused a similar reaction. He moved his hands lower and darted fingers between her legs. Her gasp brought a smile. She was so sensitive to his touch.
“My turn.” She took the soap and began a slow exploration of his chest inching ever lower toward his aching cock.
“You’re perfect.” For that moment he meant those words.
She slid her arm around his neck and pressed her body to his. She stood on tip-toe to allow his erect member to slide between her legs.
He groaned. “Now. I need you now.”
“The seat,” she said.
He raised his head and glanced over his shoulder and sat the bench where he could sit. He turned them and moved across the water slicked tiles. He sat.
Laurel knelt with her knees on either side of his hips. He positioned himself and slowly she encased him.
She gazed into his eyes. “Now what?”
“We rock.” He planted his feet on the floor and grasped her hips. They moved in a slow sensual dance. As pressure built in him he slid a finger to stimulate her. Her moans grew louder. She tightened on his shaft. She whispered his name. Then she bent and kissed him.
Tony erupted with such force they nearly slid to the floor. He gulped deep breaths. “Yes, yes.” He couldn’t say another word especially the one circling in his thoughts.
Impossible.
Why?
She brushed her mouth over his. “I feel the same.”
“What?” Had he spoken aloud?
“Sated.”
Her answer wasn’t what he’d feared. “Any regrets?”
“None.” She rose and turned off the now lukewarm water.
Why did he hear a touch of disappointment in her answer? This was a weekend fling not a commitment.
She stepped from the shower and wrapped a towel around her. “I need to check Jamie.”
“Will you return or will you sleep on that mattress thing again?” He wanted to smack himself. Begging wasn’t his style.
“Yes.” She kissed his cheek. “I’ll be there for tonight. No strings, remember.”
“Got you.”
Tony dried and returned to the master bedroom. He leaned his hands behind his head. Would tonight be enough to satisfy him? Whether or not this night had to be the end. He had no room in his life for just one woman. His father had taught him that lesson. A stray thought occurred. Why hadn’t Jim learned the same one?
Lauren emerged from the hall. “I left the nursery door open. If Jamie cries I’ll go. Before the accident Carrie said he slept all night but that’s changed.”
Tony gathered her into his arms. “He’s grieving. That’s normal.”
“I know.”
The kisses grew deeper and brought them to another climax. Tony held her while he slept. A troubling thought occurred. Even with a nanny bringing women to the apartment would present a problem.
* * *
Lauren tried to roll over and met an obstruction. What was wrong? The king-sized bed wasn’t against a wall of the bedroom. Cautiously she opened her eyes and saw the reason she’d been trapped. Tony! What had she done?
In a rush of memories she knew all. Last night’s dinner. Tony’s offer of joint custody. The kiss that had brought them upstairs for a night of incredible sex. Why had her barriers against sexual liaisons shattered? She had forgotten her dislike of the man she didn’t trust and allowed herself to forget her vow of four years ago. No men, no casual sex until she completed her degree and had a job.
No strings. She’d made that rule. No regrets had been his addition.
For an instant she considered a time without him beyond this moment. Thinking that thought was dangerous. Yet a part of her yearned for a continuation of all she’d experienced last night. She pushed that thought aside. She and Tony had sealed a bargain. Nothing more,
She moved away and left the bed. As she rounded the foot she studied last night’s lover’s face. Handsome, yes. Though his features had relaxed in sleep he was a man used to having his own way. She had no time to be his play date of the month.
After scurrying to the bathroom she slipped into the nursery. Jamie slept. What now? Return to the bed where Tony slept curled on the mattress. She heard a sound and saw Tony. Her gaze drifted from his face to his jutting erection.
He held out a hand. “Come to bed.”
Lauren turned. Why not enjoy the little time remaining before he left? She took his hand. “Again?”
“Looks that way.”
She ran her hand down his chest to his groin.
He laughed. “Shall we see where this leads? I washed. Did you?” He captured her mouth in an open mouth kiss. “You taste good.”
Lauren paused beside the bed. “I’ve a feeling you do, too. Let me taste.”
“I’m game.” He stretched on the bed. “Have your way.”
His willingness to cede control brought a bit of hope she shouldn’t feel. Just for the weekend she could dream. When he left they must retur
n to what had brought them together. Jamie and their shared custody.
She sat on the bed and stroked his face, his neck and his chest. Small flicks of her tongue tasted the many textures. When his nipples pebbled she sucked them. The rumbles and growls spurred her to move lower but she refrained. She returned to his neck and sucked the place where buried veins hid beneath his skin.
His hands roamed over her shoulders. “Kiss me.”
“Not yet.”
She tongued her way down his body avoiding his erection as she moved to the foot of the bed. She massaged his feet and calves. A smile escaped. She bent her head and ran her hands and mouth along his thighs.
He growled. “You’re killing me.”
“That’s the idea.” She fondled his sac and grasped him. With a chuckle she kissed the tip. “You do taste good.” Her tongue slid down one side and up the other.
“Take me inside. I’ve had this fantasy.”
“I bet you did.” She closed her mouth over him.
He stroked her hair. “Turn so I can taste you.”
His husky voice made her skin heat. Reluctantly she shifted position. Once settled she drew him into her mouth.
He parted her folds. The brush of his fingers sent jolts through her. She drew him deeper. He slid a finger and then two to her. “Go slow,” he said.
His tongue flicked her clit. A burn began and intensified. She had to move. “This isn’t working.” Though she tried she had to release him and give into the rushing electrified jolts sweeping through her. Her moan erupted in a shout. “Give me a minute.” When her breathing slowed she caressed and pumped his shaft.
“We have all day.”
“Not if Jamie wakes. Also I have a class at one.”
She drew him completely into her mouth. With one hand she touched a spot she knew would trigger his release. She swallowed and swallowed.
His shout morphed into a growl. “Come here. Just let me hold you.”
She slid to his side. His arms encircled her. He brought his mouth close to hers and mumbled words she didn’t understand.
“What did you say?”
He stroked her cheek. “Just rest a bit.”
She closed her eyes. As she drifted to sleep she wondered why he hadn’t repeated what he had said.
“Tee. Tee.”
Jamie’s call woke her. When she moved Tony’s arm tightened. “I have to go. He’ll only become louder. There is no over-sleeping when Jamie’s around.”
As she rolled over him he stroked her rear. “Will you come if I call?”
“Can’t.” She glanced at the clock. “It’s already seven. He’s ready for breakfast.”
Tony groaned. “I hear you.”
She touched his cheek. The call from the nursery became a bellow. “Go back to sleep.” She hurried to the nursery and donned her fleecy robe.
Jamie held his arms out. “Up. Eat.”
“Soon.” She carried him to the changing table. “You’re soaked.”
As she pulled off the diaper and wiped his bottom, Tony paused behind her. “What’s for breakfast?”
Lauren laughed. “You’d better get dressed.” Though she enjoyed looking at his nude body she had no time to indulge.
“Will do.” He kissed her nape.
Lauren carried Jamie downstairs and started coffee. She prepared Jamie’s breakfast and sat to feed her nephew.
Tony arrived wearing sweat pants but no shirt or shoes. He filled two mugs with coffee and set hers where she could sip between bites. He opened the fridge and gathered things for an omelet.
“Breakfast?” Lauren asked.
“This isn’t my usual Sunday morning meal. There are several restaurants in walking distance from my apartment. They have Sunday brunch. I generally sleep in and indulge.”
“Lucky you. Doesn’t happen where there’s a squirt to be fed.”
“I can see that.”
Lauren continued feeding Jamie. When the last bite was in his mouth, she handed him one of his cookies. She walked to the bar.
Tony pushed a plate toward her. “Enjoy.”
She took a bite of the omelet filled with cheese, meat and vegetables. “This is wonderful.”
“Would be better if I’d had cream instead of milk and omelet pans.” He lifted his mug. “You look sexy.”
“With my uncombed hair and bulky robe?”
He finished his omelet and held out his arms. “So very sexy. See what you do to me.”
She saw the way his sweats tented. A moment of regret arose. “We can’t.”
“Why not?”
“If he cries Jamie wouldn’t understand how lost we would be in each other. When we have sex you’re all I think about.”
He scowled and nodded. “You’re right.”
* * *
Though Tony knew she was right he drew her into his arms. “Just a kiss or two,” he whispered. “Shame Jamie doesn’t take a morning nap.” He covered her mouth with his. Would he ever get enough of her?
Slowly he released her. He grasped for sanity. This sensual madness, this all-consuming desire for her had to end before he hurt her. Years ago he’d learned love was a foolish notion. His father had taught him that lesson.
A picture of Marsha, his former fiancé, and the night he’d gone to her apartment and let himself in. He’d found her in bed with his father.
“No woman can resister money and power,” the older man had said. “I have both. You don’t.”
Tony brushed Lauren’s lips with his fingers. “Another time.”
She nodded. “Watch Jamie while I shower. Then it’s your turn.”
He wanted to protest. He couldn’t. His nephew needed his company. Lauren hurried to the stairs. Tony looked for Jamie. He crawled toward the fireplace. Tony scooped the baby into his arms.
“Young man. That’s no place to explore.”
“Jamie,” Lauren said.
“I know his name but when I’m scolding him I’ll call him what comes to mind. Two minutes and he would have been in the fireplace.”
“Okay.”
Moments later he heard the shower and wished he stood beneath the spray with her. Whoa. The time of togetherness ended when he left for the city. With her schedule and caring for Jamie until he found a nanny she had no time to join him in fun and pleasure. When her life granted her time his craving for her would have ended. They had nothing but a nephew and great sex in common.
When she came downstairs he strode up. After showering he considered spending another night here. The word danger flashed in his thoughts. Love had no place on his agenda. His father’s taunting voice rolled through his head.
Why hadn’t Jim listened to the old man? Jim had friends not mere acquaintances. Tony’s friends numbered four. Jim had a wife he had adored rather than a string of lovers.
Who had been the fool? Tony wasn’t ready to answer the question. He reached the living room.
Lauren had Jamie dressed in his jacket. “We’re going for a walk. Then lunch and class.”
“I’ll go with him.”
“To class?” She grinned. “We’re working on gross motor skills today.”
He tapped her chin. “The walk.”
They took the long way around both clusters of the complex. Several times they stopped and talked while people offered sympathy and admired Jamie.
The outpouring stunned Tony. In the year plus his brother and sister-in-law knew more people in their neighborhood than he did in six years in the same apartment building.
After lunch Lauren left for class. Tony carried the sleepy baby to the nursery.
“Cool. Cool.” Jamie patted Tony’s face.
“I’ll see you soon. Then you’ll come to live me for four days every week.”
“Tee.”
Tony shook his head. He stood beside the crib while his nephew slipped into sleep. Hazel eyes, just like Lauren’s. Tony’s hands clenched. He strode to the bedroom for his bags and carried them downstairs. In the garage he lo
aded the luggage in the trunk. As soon as Lauren returned he would leave.
Tony returned to the living room. A chuck had been ripped from the wall he’d built to keep other people at a distance. Could the breach be repaired? Maybe he should allow Lauren full custody. She could live here with Jamie and he would help with expenses.
Impossible. He’d made a promise. Jim had named him as one of the guardians. Though in the past other promises he’d made to his brother had been broken, Tony vowed he would keep this one.
His plans had been made. He would follow them. Didn’t matter that Lauren was a sexy woman and the lover most in tune with his rhythms. He had to leave. He would call and give her a choice of days. The right nanny could work weekends with three days off instead of two.
Cries from the nursery set him dashing upstairs. Jamie clutched the crib sides. Tears ran down his fade. “Dada.”
Tony lifted his nephew. He swallowed the lunp in his throat. “Just Uncle Tony.” He rubbed the baby’s back.
When Jamie’s sobbing stopped Tony changed his diaper and carried him downstairs. He stretched on the couch and tucked the infant against his chest. He drifted to sleep and woke when a door closed. He rubbed his eyes and tried to focus.
Lauren stood behind the couch. “Carrie said she used to come home from an evening class and find Jamie and Jim asleep like that.”
He rose and handed his nephew to her. “I have to head back to the city.”
“Problems?”
He looked away. One he couldn’t explain other than he needed distance from her. “Client. I’ll call so we can discuss which days would be best for you to have Jamie. I’m thinking of Monday through Wednesday for you.” He pulled on his coat. “Oh, I won’t put the condo for sale. You can stay here with Jamie.”
“Great but I can’t afford the rent.”
“There’s none. Unit is paid for. Taxes are handled.”
“Utilities?”
“We’ll work that out.” He reached the door into the garage. Like a man fleeing a disaster Tony hit the door opener and started his car. Lauren and Jamie stood in the doorway. They waved. He backed out. Ten minutes later he was on the road leading to the George Washington Bridge.
He drew a deep breath. Slowly his panic ebbed. He chewed on the why of his recent actions like a dog gnawing a bone. What had spooked him? The possibilities or the impossibilities? Until he solved the grief he felt for being a distant brother he couldn’t think of why Lauren sent him rushing for the safety of his city apartment.
