He dropped down beside her and cuddled her in his arms. “While diving into your pussy gave me intense pleasure, there are other ways to make love.” He nuzzled her neck and her pussy shot to life again. How could that be?

“I know what you’re referring to, but I’m not ready for that yet.”

“You will be, darlin’. Trust me.”

That’s what worried her. Next time she might give in.

  * * * *

Around noon the next day, they were nearing the ranch when the thought of what was going to happen tonight finally hit her. “Are you going to tell Hawk what we did?”

“I most certainly plan to tell him you are the hottest woman I’ve ever had.”

She dropped her head back against the seat. “You know he expects me to sleep in his bed.” She twisted in her seat. “Can I come over to yours instead?”

Raven reached over and rubbed her thigh. “Hawk’s bed is big enough for all three of us.”

Okay, that’s not what she meant. She was so not ready to even entertain sleeping with two men at the same time. Besides, Hawk wouldn’t participate. Secondly, she could never make love with one man while another watched.

“I think I’ll pass.” She was pleased she’d said it with enough caring, that hopefully he wouldn’t be offended.

  “We’ll see.”

  The man was determined.

When they pulled in front of the house, another car sat in the drive, along with a motorcycle.

“Looks like the whole gang is here,” he said.

Was she ready for the encounter of meeting Hawk’s brother? No, but she had no choice. Raven took her packages out of the trunk.

“When we get inside,” he said, “you might consider putting the money in Clete’s safe. Tomorrow, we can go into town and open up a bank account for you.”

“Thank you, but which of the two brothers do you think would steal my money?” It must be Hawk since Clete would have the combination to his own safe.

“Honey, it’s none of us, but we do have maids and other friends stop by. You never know how things can get misplaced.”

  “Oh.” That made sense.

If she planned on opening an account, she’d have to locate her friend’s social security number. Bank accounts implied she’d be staying put, but right now that didn’t look like a bad idea. The longer she went without Bill finding her, the more likely it would be for him to give up. She’d have to contact her friend soon, and maybe her parents, to let them know she was safe, but another day or two wouldn’t hurt. Her friend would have told her folks about her escape plan.

As soon as she got through the front door, a new laugh reached her.

“That you, Raven?” The voice sounded like Hawk’s, but the tone had a slightly different accent.

  “Yeah. Come meet Bella.”

She held her breath. Clete came out of the kitchen. He, too, belonged on the cover of a GQ magazine. Whereas Raven and Hawk looked like bikers, Clete belonged in a boardroom. While she couldn’t see from this distance, she bet he buffed his nails. His eyebrows looked trimmed. His short hair and lack of tattoos screamed executive. He exuded confidence in waves, but then anyone who owned all those stores would be a man to be reckoned with.

“Hi.” She stepped toward him and extended her hand.

Hawk appeared behind his brother, his gaze hard and black. Was he mad she’d gone with Raven?

Clete took hold of her hand and pulled her close. He placed a kiss on each cheek. “Welcome to my home.”

What a nice change from his brother.

“I’ll put your purchases in your room,” Raven said.

Did he mean Hawk’s bedroom or his own?

Hawk approached and wrapped a possessive arm around her waist. She expected her body to bristle. Instead, her body caught on fire from his touch. This frightened her more than anything he could say to her.

  “You’re coming with me.”

Oh, God. This wasn’t going to end well.

  Chapter Seven

Bella expected Clete to stop Hawk from practically dragging her off, but he said nothing. What was with these boys sticking together?

She was getting tired of Hawk’s caveman approach. “What’s your problem?”

  No answer. Figures.

Once they crossed the bedroom threshold, he closed the door and pinned her back against the wall. “My problem? You didn’t have the courtesy to ask if it was okay for you to go off with Raven.”

“Well, I might have asked you if you’d been around, which you weren’t. I needed clothes and Raven offered. Then he agreed to drive me to Billings to sell my jewelry.” That was more than Hawk had offered. Her breaths came out too fast, and she forced herself to calm down. “You implied you all were interchangeable.”

He cocked a brow. It must not have been what he expected her to say.

“Did you like the way he fucked you?”

That certainly wasn’t what she thought he’d come back with. She tried to push him away, but he didn’t budge. If he could be blunt, so could she. “Yes, I did. Very much so.”

His lips descended on her so fast she couldn’t suck in a breath. His hands found the zipper on her sweater and lowered it. Her mind reeled. She thought he didn’t like her. Was this his way of punishing her?

Using force, she shoved him back. While he didn’t move, he stopped kissing her. He obviously got the message.

“I know you want it. Don’t deny me, Bella.”

What he said was right, but she’d be damned if she gave him the satisfaction of saying so. Her lips stung from his brutal kiss. An urge to lick her lips to savor his taste overcame her. His eyes turned dark when her tongue swept across them.

  “You’re tempting me.”

That was all she needed to hear. She’d wanted him ever since she stepped foot in this house. When he leaned in, she didn’t push him away this time. In fact, she took hold of his hips and drew him near. A groan escaped from deep in his chest. His fingers threaded their way up her shirt, coming close to her breasts. She slipped her fingers under his shirt and nearly got burned from the heat pouring off his body. His muscles rippled under her touch as she slid her hands higher.

He gently bit her bottom lip before capturing her mouth again. His tongue demanded entrance and she quickly gave in. How she could be attracted to him after what she’d done with Raven, she didn’t know, but every one of Hawk’s touches ignited her body until she was an inferno of need.

He slipped the sweater over her shoulder and lifted off her long-sleeved shirt. When she tried to do the same with Hawk, he clamped his elbows to his side, preventing her.

  “Be that way.”

He grinned and lowered her bra straps. When he pulled down the cups, her mostly raw nipples puckered at the cold air. Hawk’s eyes widened slightly. “I see Raven has enjoyed these beauties.”

She glanced down at the red, swollen tips. “Too much so.”

He dipped his head. Her comment only seemed to incite him. He sucked on each one with intensity. His mouth pulled and twisted the tips until the torturous pleasure made her so wet she nearly came. He might not want his shirt removed, but he didn’t stop her from exploring the planes and contours of his muscled back. Every time he moved his hands up and down her waist, his body twisted and flexed.

Quicker than she could say his name, his hand slipped into her pants, and his finger dipped into her wetness.

“You want me. I need to taste your pussy juice.”

He dropped to his knees and unhooked her belt. He had the zipper down in a flash. Not waiting for her to kick off her boots, he lowered her jeans to her calves and cupped her pussy with his mouth.

  Stop him.

No muscles moved. Her paralyzed brain flooded with endorphins. Unable to speak, she took deep breaths until his tongue speared her clit. He nibbled on the hood and dragged his teeth over the sensitive nub. She grabbed the top of his head and held on for dear life.

  “Oh, Hawk. That fee
ls incredible.” She barely got the words out when another attack of lust blasted her.

His fingers delved into her pussy, scissoring their way in. Her walls were nearly swollen shut from Raven’s huge cock, so any movement was intensified.

“You’re so tight.” He sounded amazed, impressed, and delighted all at the same time.

Another alien must have taken over her body, because she wanted to be speared by his cock more than anything.

  “Please, Hawk.”

“You want me to fuck you hard?”

“Yes.” The desperation in her voice even shocked her.

“Good.” With that, he stomped out.

  What?

She nearly tripped on her pants getting to the door. “Where are you going?”

She swore she heard a chuckle. Damn him. Frustrated, she leaned back against the wall and waited for the tears to stop. Confusion crushed her. After waiting forever for him to come to his senses, she took off her clothes and got ready for bed, certain she’d have the whole king-size bed to herself.

  * * * *

Walking away had been the hardest thing Hawk had ever had to do. He’d almost caved, but when the image of Rebecca’s face reared, he knew he couldn’t let Bella break his heart, too.

What the fuck was wrong with him practically forcing himself on her? He never cared if Raven had a woman first, just as long as he shared. And yet, when she told him she liked fucking Raven, he’d lost control. Inhaling, he unclenched his hands. He better get control or something was going to break. Like a face.

Raven and Clete were in the living room sharing a beer.

“She go to bed?” Clete asked with too much cheer.

  “Yeah.”

Raven arched a brow. “Why aren’t you in there with her?”

“I thought I’d crash on the sofa.”

Raven whistled. “That’s gotta be tough. She turn you down?”

Hawk jetted toward his best friend and pulled him to his feet. They’d tussled once, and he’d lost, but right now he wanted to punch the shit out of something.

Clete grabbed his shoulders. “Take it outside, boys. Furniture breaks.”

His reason partially returned. He let go and stepped back. Raven held up his hands. “We need to talk about this.”

Raven’s tone had turned serious. “You really like her?”

“More than like. It’s under-my-skin kind of like.”

Clete whistled. “I admit she’s a looker, but come on, guys. She’s a class act.”

Hawk twisted around and faced him. “What’s that supposed to mean?”

He held up his hands. “Nothing. But what about letting me see if I want her. If I do, I say we do a full-court press to keep her here. She could be the one.”

Stupid idea. “She’s from Miami. She loves the heat, loves to swim in the ocean. While she rides horses, there’s not enough culture here.”

Raven shrugged. “Hawk might be right. I implied I liked coming in her ass and she nearly slapped my hand when I got near.”

Clete leaned back and stretched out his legs. “You need me to fill in the gaps. I’m thinking of showing our lady friend that Montana has culture, too.”

Raven chugged the rest of the beer. “You going to fly her somewhere far away?”

“Not too far. Great Falls has a respectable theater. They often have ballet and a symphony.”

His brother loved to fly, but since he was gone so much, he didn’t get the chance to enjoy his hobby. He stored his Cessna twin-engine at the local airport. He bet Bella would get a thrill to have a date on that beauty with Clete.

Hawk shrugged. “I say go for it, but I’m holding out until the snow comes.” Rebecca didn’t last despite being from Boston.

Raven set his glass down. “Not much you can do about controlling the weather.”

Clete sat forward. “Let’s hope she’s so hooked on us that she’s willing to take up snowmobiling or something.”

Raven raised a finger. “She might stay, but Hawk would have to agree.” He told him about Bella’s idea to redo the website.

He bristled. He’d not had time to work on it. Decision time. Do you want her to stay or not? “If you think it’ll keep her here, then fine. I don’t trust she won’t split once she believes her fiancé isn’t a threat anymore.”

In the meantime, he’d keep his distance and not pull any more stupid stunts like he just did.

Clete stood and waved his empty glass. “About her sleeping arrangements.”

A protective rush slammed into him. “She stays with me.” Though how I’ll keep my hands off her I don’t know. “If you two start bringing out the butt plugs or the ropes, she’ll leave for sure. She’ll be safe with me.”

When both men burst out laughing, he knew it was time to go for a late-night ride to clear his head.

He had no destination in mind, but going fast was all he needed. The vision of Bella’s sweet pussy kept assaulting him. He went faster, choosing winding roads. He wanted her, all right, but not before he was convinced she was here to stay.

An hour later, he returned. The ride had cleared his head somewhat, but not completely. He had planned on sleeping on the sofa, but what was going to change the next night and the night after that? What if Bella had a nightmare, dreaming of that bodyguard nabbing her and carrying her off? He should be there. Besides, he didn’t trust either man not to crawl into his bed and ravish her.

It was well after midnight when he returned. He carefully opened the bedroom door so as not to wake her. She’d left the bathroom light on and the door ajar, so it was easier to find his way. He grabbed a pair of light sweatpants to wear to bed. He didn’t need to scare her if his cock got hard in the middle of the night.

She didn’t move when he slipped under the covers. Good. While the urge to hold her was intense, he resisted for both their sakes. If Raven and Clete had their way, Raven would be fucking her ass ten times a day, and Clete would tie her up while he did her. She’d never stay. Hell, maybe he should tell her about their lifestyle. If she wanted to leave so bad, maybe that would be the impetus.

The image of Bella having a bulging belly shot through his mind. He yearned for a family, but he knew it would take someone very special to deal with his moods and an often-absent Clete.

Sleep eluded him until near morning. Fortunately, he awoke before Bella did. Propped up on an elbow, he studied her. She looked so beautiful and peaceful. He wanted to move the errant hair crossing her cheek, but if she woke, he might have a hard time explaining his fascination with her. Christ. His cock got hard looking at her.

Hoping not to disturb her, he moved quietly into the bathroom and closed the door before taking his shower.

He was dressed and got out of the room before she’d budged.

No one was up yet to give him shit about his reaction to Bella being with Raven. He grabbed two hard-boiled eggs and a thermos of coffee and headed out. With the light peeking over the mountains, he wanted to go to the one place that gave him solace—to the top of Henderson Mountain, where the hawks floated on the airstream and the only sound was his breathing.

He jumped on his motorcycle and gunned the engine. The early morning had a chill to it, but the fresh air beating against his body woke him up. He’d basically come to a crossroad in his life. His business wasn’t doing well, his love life sucked, and he’d been experiencing a wanderlust and listlessness of late. Meeting Bella had shaken everything up. She’d gotten under his skin and he wasn’t sure what to do about it.

He passed very few people getting to the mountain path. Once at the entrance, he got off his bike and slapped on his backpack. Even though he wasn’t planning on staying on the mountain for long, he always came prepared for unforeseen events. The path started off fairly even, but as he neared the peak, the climb turned difficult. While no rock climbing was necessary, his heart rate accelerated.

Fifty minutes later, he reached the top. The wind blew unobstructed across the rock face. The sun h
ad risen, but the clouds had yet to burn off their mist. He took off his pack and waited. The silence helped him think. Bella’s face formed before him. Even when he tried to blink her away, her smile and laughter remained lodged in his brain, daring him to do something.

His cock was ready to take her, but until he was sure she could be a part of his life, he was determined to stay clear. While he didn’t have spirit guides, he always believed the birds held the answers to life’s problems.

Without moving, he focused his mind outward, calming his thoughts of all turmoil. Two hawks neared, but they flew past without seeming to notice him. As the minutes drifted by, his muscles turned heavy and his eyes closed. He felt rather than saw the bird. He opened his eyes. A hawk had landed. The bird stared, almost challenging him to take a deep breath. One hop, two hops, the bird came closer.

Hawk reached out his hand and the bird flapped his wings and zoomed toward him. As if his fingers held food, the bird sniffed, glanced up at him, and took off. Surely that had to be a sign. But of what?

A few more flew near, but no others landed. When the sun turned the rock hot, Hawk knew it was time to go. The trek down was easy. He had a lightness to his step like never before. It was almost as if he’d been given a gift of insight. Too bad he didn’t know what he was supposed to do. Should he trust that Bella was the one for them?

If so, he had his work cut out for him.

  Chapter Eight

When Bella awoke, she wasn’t surprised that Hawk wasn’t in the bed. She’d dreamt he’d come in and held her, keeping her safe, but that had to have been a dream. When he left, he acted as if he never wanted to see her again. When he hadn’t come to bed by midnight, she figured he was sleeping on the couch.

Wait a minute. Was the amazing way he brought her to near climax a way to punish her for sleeping with his best friend? Raven must not have known Hawk very well since he believed Hawk wouldn’t care. Maybe he said that just so she wouldn’t turn him down.

Men. She’d never understand them. Needing to freshen up, she went into the bathroom. From the damp smell, someone had recently taken a shower. Hawk must have come in this morning and cleaned up. Whatever. She couldn’t worry about him. She had enough to deal with.
