The white skeletal giant beasts had its bones engraved with totem carvings, while it was running, the totem carvings glimmered brightly, catapulting its speed to a higher point!

Along the way, the corpse demons jumped down from the flesh walls onto the giant beast, they weaved themselves into the thigh muscles of the white skeletal giant beast!

On the other hand, the tentacular evil eyes crawled along the giant beast’s bones and entered its eye sockets, innumerable eyeballs clumped together into a lump and formed the giant eyes of the giant beast!

As the giant beast broke off into a sprint, the corpse demons that were littered around it would crawl and jump onto its bones. Its muscles grew more complete and its limbs eventually took form. Its speed rocketed as its legs grew with every grotesque augmentation offered by the corpse demons it subsumed.

The giant beast’s four limbs were fully covered with muscles, with a sudden burst of strength, Krong! It also broke through the sound barrier and was quickly catching up to Zhong Yue with great speed!

“Brat Yue, faster, a little bit faster!”

Xin Huo turned and looked back, the tunnel was quaking, it was clear that an unimaginably massive creature was on their tail, even the corpse demons could not maintain their position and were shaken off from the flesh walls, Xin Huo immediately knew that things were quickly devolving into as his situation approached dire straits, he quickly said, “A big guy is coming!”

The white skeleton giant beast came into their sights – Hong! It rammed into the flesh wall crushing countless corpse demons in between and stomping those beneath its feet into mashed meats!

While at the same time, corpse demons continued to jump down from the wall onto the giant beast as its muscles.

Zhong Yue hastened up without sparing any precious time and energy to even turn his head over. Lightning could be seen crackling beneath his feets and he bolted out forwards. Every burst of lightning would bring with it a small increase in his speed, the winds gusted directly on his face and chafed his dragon scales creating metallic ringing sound, the friction between the dragon scales and the air ignited sparks of fire!

His speed was at its peak, he could not go any faster, but behind him, the giant beast was still closing in, its massive eye shimmered and galvanized its energy to form a massive destructive light beam blasting towards Zhong Yue!

  “U-turn! First right!”

Zhong Yue mustered all his strength, the dragon scales around his limbs bristled up like blades, abruptly he forcefully changed his inertia and rammed into the first tunnel on his right.

Behind him, the light beam that was capable of pure and wanton destruction liquefied the mountain rocks, scorched the air and ignited a huge conflagration that thirsted to engulf the world!

As the tunnel trembled and quaked vigorously, the giant beast dashed out from the curtain of flames, it howled fiercely but there were no sounds, it was because its vocal cord had yet to be formed by the corpse demons, rendering it incapable of audibly expressing its mad insanity for slaughter.

It was at this time, the other massive eye on the giant beast started glimmering, another beam of death rays was on the verge of blasting out!

Chapter 65: Through The Sky |

Zhong Yue clenched his teeth, he thrust his psyche once again at the beast god inner core in his psyche ocean, causing it to release a tremendous amount of beast god essence into his body!

His Xiang Dragon Body was repleted with a surge of unimaginably strong energy; his physique grew to forty feet long; his speed, was once more enhanced, allowing him a narrow escape from the death rays!

This decision was extremely dangerous, if he could not smite and refine the beast god essence in time, he would be assimilated into a Xiang Dragon, permanently!

  “We are close, very close….”

Xin Huo mumbled and he said, “We will reach it in another fifty miles … Second left!”

Zhong Yue’s eyes brightened, he rushed into the second tunnel on his left, as he made his way down the tunnel, it became narrower. Suddenly, the tunnel trembled as the beast behind him tried to enter but it was too small for the giant beast, the beast was stuck.

The giant beast released a muted roar, it tried so hard but its massive body obstructed it from entering the tunnel.

  Hua-la-la.

One after another, eyeballs rolled down from its eye sockets and muscles from its limbs flaked off and fell down onto the ground; the zombie demons and peculiar eyes flooded the tunnel sprinting towards Zhong Yue — it was a horrific scene!

Since the giant beast had its ‘muscles’ fallen off from its body, it was small enough to enter the tunnel, with full speed, it rushed right at Zhong Yue.

“Oh shit, we’ve just stirred up a hornets' nest….”

Xin Huo mumbled while he kept turning his head and looked behind, all of a sudden, he shouted out, “That’s it! Brat Yue, I know what these devil souls are looking for! No doubt words like smart and brilliant were specially invented to praise me!”

Zhong Yue kept quiet, this was a moment of life and death, the crucial time of escaping from death, how could he allow himself to be distracted?

“They are the souls of the dead gods and devils, souls but not spirits!”

Even without getting any replies, Xin Huo kept on, “Soul and spirit, soul and spirit! Devil souls have souls but no spirits, someone had torn their souls and spirits apart, the souls were repressed underneath of Swords Gate Mountain, that’s why every time when the Devil Soul Yin Effluvium erupts, the devil souls are all searching for their spirits!”

The little flame walked back and forth in the weathered lamp mumbling to himself, “Where are their spirits hidden at … definitely not underground, else they would’ve found it already … but if not underground, then where can it be? Surely not outside in the Swords Gate Mountain, they will give off surges of a nonpareil aura of energy, so strong that even the stars would be brightened, the spirits must have been sealed off inside something else!”

“Who killed these gods and devils, the purpose of gathering the spirits was not to repress them, there must be some other reason, some other uses for their spirits….”

The doubts from the little flame were unanswered, he once again trapped himself in questions that have no answers.

“Seems like there are a lot of secrets in Great Wilderness, the biggest of all is where are the spirits of these gods and devils … Brat Yue, you are getting close, ten miles left!”

Zhong Yue was set astir, his speed elevated once more.

Behind him, where the tunnel got wider, the white skeletal giant beast engulfed the zombie demon and peculiar eyes together, it was then sprinting faster and catching up to Zhong Yue in quick speed!

“We are getting closer, very close….”

Xin Huo was flurried and he started mumbling again, “Let’s hope the seal isn’t too strong now, or we will be trapped here for another nine years until the next eruption of the Devil Soul Yin Effluvium.”

Zhong Yue mustered all his strength and hurried to his destination, a bright light appeared out of nowhere and suddenly, the surroundings expanded.

He raised his head and cast his gaze around, there was a pool of water floating in the air, the sky and pool, white clouds and blue waters. It was a stagnant pool suspended in the air with no water flowing down – they were contained by countless numbers of huge totem carvings beneath the pool.

From below, the view was as if someone was looking at the zenith, the totem carvings appeared in different forms, constantly changing in patterns without any fixed permutations.

  “Ever-changing totem carvings?

Zhong Yue was baffled, this was the first time he ever encountered such totem carvings, the totem carvings beneath sealed the whole pool without having a drip of water leaking out from it, one could tell how strong and robust the seal was, it was impeccable and impenetrable!

Could this really be where the seal was getting loosened?
r />   Behind him, the giant beast surged forward in great speed, rays that symbolized death started to glimmer in its eyes; watching as the giant beast was getting nearer, Zhong Yue gritted his teeth and leaped into the air, the Xiang Dragon stomped and he walked in mid-air towards the dangling pool and seal!

The weathered lamp in the hands of Sui Sovereign behind him emanated two rays of light piercing right at the totem carvings; once the light rays shone on them, cracks started to emerge on the complexly structured totem carvings.

Year after year, time had ravaged the once unblemished totem seal left behind by the gods. A flaw was left behind in the totem carvings, the seal was now incomplete.

But even so, the totem carvings still contained an unearthly power within them, meant to strike directly at the souls, with the purpose of sealing the devil souls in this forsaken place forever.

What was most horrifying was that, the totem carvings were constantly changing, moving and flowing like waters, without any fixed shape and without fixed patterns; entering recklessly would cause irreversible consequences, a path that seemed safe could turn into a road to death in the next second at the whimsical transformations of the totem carvings!

“This seal, although loosened and now very weak, it is still fairly strong….”

Xin Huo was troubled by the knotty situation, he said, “Normally this wouldn’t be of any concern, but right now, time is not our friend … Brat Yue, do exactly as I say, never lay a wrong step or your soul will perish into thin air!”

Xin Huo was stressed, with all his might he calculated the probabilities and changes of the totem carvings, he instructed, “Now go in, move forwards one hundred eighty-three feets and two inches!”

Zhong Yue burst out in an instant, lightning crackled beneath his feet. Zilaa – he dashed into the seal and stopped abruptly right at the spot Xin Huo mentioned.

Lightning propagated beneath the Xiang Dragon radially, but before the bolts of lightning could travel far, they were all crushed away by the totem carvings around.

Zhong Yue levitated in the air with the lightning, he meticulously controlled his body coordination. The Dragon commands the clouds while the winds follow the tiger, taking the form of a Xiang Dragon, it was not a difficult task for him to control the lightning.

However, the difficulty in controlling the lightning would greatly increase when he reverted back to the human form.

There were pros and cons both in the form of Xiang Dragon and a human; in the human form, he could continue on with his cultivation but he hadn’t the slightest clue on how to cultivate in the form of a Xiang Dragon.

“What’s next?” Zhong Yue watched the marvelous-looking totem carvings around him, his face twisted and his voice was throaty.

Just by looking he could tell, any one of these totem carvings could send him to heaven hundreds of times over. It was fine for him to watch and look, but if he intercepted with any one of the totem carvings, then death would be his only outcome!

  “We wait.”

Xin Huo was as nervous as Zhong Yue was, he said, “Don’t stress, don’t panic, look at me, I’m perfectly calm and steady….”

Zhong Yue lowered his sights, the death rays from the white skeletal giant beast below him missed its target, but the beast was now beneath the pool. Its mouth opened and roared but nothing could be heard, its huge body crouched and as the earth trembled, it sprung up into the air, gnawing its mouth wide right at Zhong Yue!

Its mouth was as big as half of a mountain when widely opened as if it was going to chomp a hole in the sky!

“Xin Huo?” Cold sweat flooded Zhong Yue’s forehead.

  “A little bit longer….”

In the copper lamp, the little flame was in fact, more stressed than Zhong Yue, he leaped out of the lamp and with a hoarse voice, he yelled, “Wait … Jump, now!”

Above Zhong Yue, there were marvelous yet deadly totem carvings alighting down; below him, the malevolent mouth of the beast was coming right at him, he was already in the middle of its gaping mouth.

Zhong Yue clenched his teeth, lightning crackled beneath his leg and with a leap, he thrust himself upwards!

The moment he jumped up, the totem carvings above him suddenly broke off, it was as if the power they contained was too strong that it crushed the totem carvings by their own power.

That split second was the moment that decided his fate, the opportunity he needed to seize in order to live. Zhong Yue slipped past the totem carvings and away from the malevolent mouth of the beast, he dived into the pool of water!

Like a dragon that met with water, Zhong Yue quickly swam towards the surface of the pool, the giant beast followed behind him. Its head rammed into the pool, but unlike Zhong Yue, it was trapped by an interweaved net of totem carvings at the surface of its head!

However, the inertia of the giant beast carried him upwards regardless. Booom – a loud burst followed the emergence of a Xiang Dragon from the pool as it landed on the solid ground and quickly it ran away at great speed.

Right after the Xiang Dragon left, an explosion occurred in the middle of the pool, splashing the pool water all around like shrapnel from an explosion while a giant head rose out of the waters. The white eerie color of its skull and the marvelous totem carvings engraved on its surface become clear!

All of a sudden, a tremendous burst of aura could be felt all around, reminiscent of a saint, heavenly, imposing and yet, extremely terrorizing – Boom! The gigantic skull ruptured into pieces, crushed into bone ash by the totem carvings!

Zhong Yue, in the form of Xiang Dragon, quickly ran away right after he came out of the pool; suddenly, a shade fell down from the sky – Chui! The item missed Zhong Yue by a hair’s width and pierced into the ground right in front of him!

“Finally I am able to escape from that forsaken place! This … is this the fang of that pseudo beast god?”

Zhong Yue quickly stopped, the thing that almost sliced him dead pierced into the mountain rocks beside him, it appeared to be a scimitar-shaped winter-white sharp fang, with weird and strange totem carvings engraved on it, it was one of the fangs of that giant beast!

The fang was seventeen feet long, around the height of two adults, one side of the fang was sliced flat by the seal of the gods while the other was sharp and incisive, the edges of the fang were serrated and unaffected by the seal of gods.

Zhong Yue was startled, his heart was shocked and overjoyed at the same time.

The fang of a beast god, even if it comes from a pseudo-beast god, it was still fairly precious!

One had to know, he could be considered very, very lucky to be able to walk out of the Devil Soul Forbidden Land alive. The thoughts of acquiring any treasures or valuables never crossed his mind, not to mention the fang of a beast god. His mind had no other thoughts other than his own survival!

But now, after he escaped from the Devil Soul Forbidden Land, a beast god fang had serendipitously fallen from the sky right before him.

What would a beast god fang be like?

Probably not a single soul weapon, not even the Ten Malefic Weapons in the Valley of Sword could be its match.

“What a huge bone blade, with a hilt, it will be over twenty feet long.”

Xin Huo leaped out from the copper lamp and praised the fang, “It must be really fun and comfortable to slash your foe with it!”

  …

Chapter 66: A Cleave That Splits It All |

Zhong Yue stepped forward and closely inspected the beast god fang, it was a pity that Zhong Yue could not understand the totem carvings at all as they were engraved by the beast god on its bones. Naturally, the totem carvings would be at the degree of a god’s level.

But part of the totem carvings was destroyed when the seal crushed the beast’s skull, as a result, the totem carvings on the fang were incomplete, the power it contained was thereby impaired; it was incomparable to the complete, flawless fang it formerly was.

“Even so, this would not be an
y weaker than the Ten Malefic Weapons.”

Xin Huo measured it with his eyes and said, “Just a little bit hard for you to control and wield it.”

“Hard to control and wield it?” Zhong Yue was baffled.

Xin Huo answered, “This is a god’s fang, the strongest and toughest fang from a pseudo-beast god, it was difficult for your psyche to penetrate and place your totem carvings on it, that’s why it is hard for you to control, as for wielding it, try it for yourself.”

The moment Zhong Yue placed his soul on the fang, a surge of a brutal and ruthless aura gushed right at his face, it was easier for his soul to enter it than other soul weapons, which meant it would be easier for him to wield it!

This would be credited to the beast, it must have smitten and refined its fangs before its death. The fangs were refined to the point where they were completely free of impurities, which was why Zhong Yue’s soul could enter it so easily!

This would be the most critical criterion for an exceptional soul weapon. The better the soul weapon, the lesser the obstacles and the easier for one’s soul to enter and wield it like an extension of one’s own body, controlling it around smoothly and naturally.

Only the inferior soul weapons would be plagued by such obstacles, this was mainly due to the impurities accumulated in the soul weapon. When the soul met with these impurities, the soul would be like walking on a twisted, crooked and narrow trail filled with huge stones and stumbling detritus.

One was a wide and open avenue while the other narrow was a trail filled with obstruction, it was glaring which would be more favorable.

Furthermore, the toughness and sharpness of an inferior soul weapon was incomparable to that of a good soul weapon, the protective capability on the owner’s soul was not too great either, hence, there would be time limits on how long the owner could wield the soul weapon before the owner’s soul had to return back to the body to prevent damages. In addition, there were risks that one would be exposed to when engaging in combat wielding an inferior soul weapon that might break anytime and transfer the damage to the owner, causing the owner’s soul to perish into thin air.
