  Sorry about that. Apparently this dream is serious about its rules. I even got a warning that I may get a temporary ban, if I continue breaking the rules. That's kind of silly, a ban from my dreams. I just wanted to talk to a farm girl, but apparently farm girls don't want to talk to me.

  Actually, I don't know why it says I'm a healer. As far as I know, I don't have any magic in me. My only guess is that after people eat my food, they say they feel wonderful. I am a chef though. We had a chef passing through, who was injured and had to stay with us. While he was with us, I couldn't help but learn his craft. Apparently, I have a knack for it. He was furious. Demanded payment from my parents. They told him it was an accident, and it was. Eventually he calmed down and remembered we had been caring for him when he was injured. He just asked that we not make it known he was the one who trained me, without first getting guild approval. I guess that can be kind of a big deal. For me, it has been wonderful. I don't have to work in the fields anymore. I just stay home and cook. Neighbors are coming from all over to eat my meat pies. I would say that's what my affinity is. Meat pies! Maybe that's what Kulebyaka means. I bet it does, it feels right. Hey, you said you were from Dollomar? Most of the farms around here make the grains that go into your breads. What is it like being in the court? Is it like the stories say?

  I did say I wanted to talk to a farm girl. Thank you for taking me at my word. Meat pies do sound good. Apparently, you can be hungry even in a dream. I'm not sure what the stories say, but I doubt they're very accurate. Especially if you want to know about the court. Just about everybody in it is a big faker. Everyone's constantly posturing, trying to get more power. There's no genuine emotions expressed even in private. Even my father is constantly guarded with me. If it wasn't for all the wealth and luxury, I would say it's the worst place you could be.

  You want to know what I look like? Sure. As the weird name I was given implies, I am rather pretty. At least that's what I'm told. We really don't have any good mirrors here, it's not like it is in Dollomar. I'm tall, the tallest woman I know in fact. I'm six feet. The only other woman I know that comes close is two inches shorter than me. And she's built like a brick, a buxom brick, but still a brick. I, however, am slender, with an itty bitty waist and long dark hair. Oh, and my eyes are blue. What about you? What do you look like?

  A buxom brick? That’s not a kind way to describe someone, your mother taught you better than that. I've had your meat pies, and I can believe they have healing properties, but you need to stop talking. At first, I thought this was only a dream. I am no longer certain of that. What if this is some weird magical spell? What if we're really talking to some noble? Do you realize how dangerous those people are? I'm the girl you were describing earlier. Don't say my name, don't say your name. You don't want to give him any more identifying information than he already has. If this is some new way of communicating, we need to be careful.

  Hey, this is my dream/fantasy, now that I know who the attractive farm girl is, that's the one I want to talk to. You can go back to ignoring me. And don't worry your not-so-pretty little head, this is definitely a dream. I mean, if it wasn't a dream, none of this would work. Real farm girls can't even read. Okay, you wanted to know what I look like. You and I are the same height, and we both have dark hair. I have wide shoulders, and if my face is not exactly handsome, it's at least strong.   Magic Structure

  Seed

  The seed gives the possibility to use a specific type of magic. It can also be thought of as unawakened magic. The quality of the seed predetermines how far the magic user can progress.

  Novice

  The first active stage of wielding magic. In this stage, a wielder gains access to a variable amount of L1 spells.

  Apprentice

  The second stage of wielding magic. In this stage, a wielder gains access to a variable amount of L2 through L4 spells. They also gain a slight sensitivity to all types of magic use.

  Journeyman

  The third stage of wielding magic. In this stage, a wielder gains access to a variable amount of L5 through L8 spells. Magic sensitivity grows enough to sense the seed of magic in others. With work and time, they can help others awaken their magic. This stage is the highest that most magic users can reach. Reaching this stage increases Constitution by 2.

  Master

  The fourth stage of wielding magic. In this stage, the wielder gains access to a variable amount of L9 to L10 spells. They have a high sensitivity to magic. With word and thought, a master can cause the seed in others to awaken, regardless of the type of magic seed. On the opposite end, a master can also wall off a magic seed. This can make it very difficult to ever progress to a novice. Only a few can become masters, and only then, through a combination of hard work and natural gifting. Reaching this stage increases Wisdom by 5.

  Illuminati

  The fifth and final stage of wielding magic. In this stage, it becomes possible to turn it up to 11. In gaining access to L11 spells, a mage can become an army unto themselves. Those who reach the exalted rank of illuminati often become rulers of nations or destroyers of them. Only an illuminati can use the full potential of a Grand Place of Power. Reaching this stage increases all stats by 5 and doubles one’s mana pool, health, and regeneration rate.

  Types of Magic and Woefully Incomplete List of Spells

  Binding Magic, color: dark shadow

  L1 Binding Oath. Makes the words of an oath mean something. Holds target to the oath that they swear. The efficacy of this spell and ability to hold one to a given oath depends on a number of factors. The primary factor is the overall strength of the casting mage. The secondary factor is the power and willingness of the oath giver.

  L2 Sticky Ground. This spell makes the ground sticky. The spell can cover a five-meter diameter circle. The ground wishes to bind with things above it. The longer those standing on the sticky ground remain still, the stronger the binding.

  L3 Increased Viscosity. This spell strengthens the bonds in any liquid creating a more viscous fluid.

  L3 Gripping. This spell makes the palms of the target’s hands lightly bond to whatever they grip, making it easier to hold onto things.

  L3 Weak Reflectics. This spell weakly binds magical energy in the air. It is not enough to block a magical attack, but if used at the correct angle it may be enough to deflect it.

  L3 Cone of Silence. This spell binds a cone of air around the caster, stopping sound vibrations from penetrating the cone.

  Energy Mass Conversion Magic, color: variable

  L1 Minor Structural Changes. Ability to use daily building points to make minor changes in castle. Example: move non load-bearing walls, create beds, or closets.

  L1 Non-magical Item Creation. Ability to use daily building points to make non-magical items you are truly familiar with.

  L1 Tiny Ivory Automaton. This six-inch ivory automaton, when provided with automating code, can be a great servant with many uses. Note: this level of automaton cannot leave castle walls and has no combat ability.

  L2 Ivory Automaton. This six-foot ivory automaton, when provided with automating code, can be a great servant with many uses. Note: is able to leave castle walls and has limited combat ability.

  Force Magic, color: purple

  L1 Kinetic Missile- This missile contains condensed force. With distance, the force dissipates. As with any kinetic strike, an anchoring of either the target or the caster can increase the damage done. Small chance to cause injury, but increased damage over time. Intensity of force increases with anchoring and a higher mass of the caster.

  L2 Kinetic Shield- Meet force with force. Give some protection from physical attacks by expending stored kinetic energy to oppose attacks.

  Hybrid Magic, color: variable

  L1 Mind Matter- This hybrid magic uses both mind and spirit power to enchant an item. When in contact with an enemy, enchanted item drains enemy’s health and converts that health into mana for the owner of the item.

  L2 Walk About- This hybrid magic uses both Mind Magic and Spirit Magic. This spell allows the mind and spirit to leave the body when it is in distress. The body focuses on the body, while the mind and spirit walk the surrounding area, undamaged by pain in the body.

  L6 Reveal Tracks- This spell helps the mind see the residue left by the spirit who came before.

  Spirit Magic, color: silver

  L1 Righteous Indignation- This spirit attack causes pain. The pain increases in severity with the magnitude of target’s evil intentions. If target does not intend evil: attack causes pause, reflection, and re-evaluation.

  L1 Spirit Shield- Creates a shield woven from spirit energy. Lowers or blocks magical attacks and effects. Can shield only self and allies.

  L2 Spiritual Cleansing- Like a magnet for damage, this spell pulls out impediments in the target’s spirit, speeding the body's natural healing. Most effective against non-physical damage.

  L3 Distress- Brings wounds to the surface. The target remembers a significant time they were wounded in spirit and experiences the distress all over again.

  L4 Confusion- This spell causes a moment where your motivation for everything becomes muddled. Similar to when you get off the couch and go into the kitchen and then forget why you're there.

  L4 Spectral Shockwave- This spell creates a shockwave that impacts with all spirits within a five-meter radius of the caster.

  L4 Passion- Target discovers the motivation needed to accomplish their task.

  L4 Fear- This spell causes enemies to flee with fear. Affects the area within ten meters of caster. Duration of effect variable, highly influenced by enemy’s fortitude and level of courage.

  L5 Spirit Slice- This spell uses a condensed blade of spirit to damage the enemy. Depending on the strength of the caster, this spell can do variable amount of damage. It can cause the spirit to completely disintegrate or only give the equivalent of a paper cut.

  L6 General Distress- Brings wounds to the surface for multiple targets. The targets remember a significant time they were wounded in spirit and experience the distress all over again.

  L7 Dark Spirit Crystal- This spell create
s dark spirit crystals that move toward the target with a high velocity. The darker the caster’s heart, the sharper the crystals will be.

  L8 Spirit Walker- This spell allows oneself to change their own body into spirit energy and walk unseen. Combat in this form is much diminished.

  L8 Flesh to Spirit- This spell allows a Spirit Walker to change one unwilling person into spirit energy. The spirit energy can then be contained in a Spirit Walker until the Spirit Walker spell is ended.

  L8 Spirit to Flesh- This spell can change an unwilling Spirit Walker back to his or her physical form with all the advantages and disadvantages that come with it.

  L9 Extraction- This spell concentrates and spins spirit, forcing it to act as a drill that penetrates and drains energy. This spell is often used when Spirit Masters duel. The loser is left a spiritless husk.

  Moon Religions Currently Encountered

  Continuality (predominately in select goblin tribes)

  This religion is based on cause and effect. It consists of simple and not-so-simple sayings and proverbs. These religious sayings explain different cause and effect relationships.

  They are often crude and obvious, but to a goblin, these proverbs are what hold together their community. Their holy book is called Only Way Goblins will Thrive by the wise goblin Mawpook of the Brown Drum.

  A short excerpt:

  - Respect powerful goblins. If you don't show respect, it eat you. You be dead. Don't be dead.

  - When you have kid, don’t eat it. If you do, when you old, weak, you neighbors eat you. You be dead. Don't be dead.

  - Don’t eat neighbor’s kids. If you do, then neighbors eat you kids. If all kids eaten, when you old, weak, another tribe eat you tribe. You be dead. Don't be dead.
