A Convenient Marriage [Book 2 of the Friends and Lovers Series] Page 6

He fastened his lips around her tiny nub and drew it deep into his mouth, applying gentle pressure to her sensitive flesh. Lisa was out of control as she thrashed back and forth on the bed, her hands gripping his head tightly. Still sucking on her clit, he released one leg to dip his hand in her pussy. With two fingers he pushed inside her oozing sex and curved his fingers up to brush against her G-spot. He sucked her clit harder as he quickened the pace of his fingers thrusting in and out of her tight hole.

"Adam,” she cried out on a broken sob at the same time her thighs clamped around his head and she rode his face to orgasm. Heat furled in his belly as he licked at her fragrant juices that dribbled all the way down to his chin. He loved eating her pussy. If he didn't need to get inside her body so desperately he could have easily come with his face buried in her pussy.

When she relaxed her thighs against his head, he shifted up her body. Grasping her ankles in his hand he hooked her long legs over his shoulders and then pressed his palms flat against the bed to lean over her. He held her gaze as he slowly pushed his hard length inside her.

"Clasp your ankles behind my neck,” he croaked out when he was finally seated all the way inside her hot sheath. She did, at the same time he began to pump his hips back and forth to slowly ride her.

She was beautiful, soft and feminine like a woman should be. He clutched at the sheets beneath his hands and thrust deeper and harder into her tight, wet warmth.

The firm muscles of her pussy tightened around him with each stroke and he struggled not to shoot his load inside of her. Instead he clenched his lids tighter in an effort to stave off his impending climax.

"Adam, that's it. Fuck me harder,” she screamed as she threw her hips at him, meeting him thrust for thrust so that his balls slapped loudly against her skin.

Pleasure exploded inside of him and he lost it. Lifting himself higher, he unclasped her legs from around his neck, hooked his arms behind her knees and shifted above her. Spreading her wider, he rode her harder.

"Yes, Adam. Fuck me,” she screamed, louder this time.

"God, Lisa. I'm about to come,” he grunted loudly as he pounded his cock deep inside her. Sweat dripped from his body with each rough thrust and he slammed his dick harder into her tender flesh. She was just so tight, so wet. The muscles in his arms bulged as he pushed her legs wider. He couldn't get deep enough inside her.

He pumped his hips furiously, his cock pistoning in and out of her at a frenzied pace. When the walls of her pussy began to pulse around him, his control completely snapped, and he shattered. He gave one final thrust before his cock jerked wildly and he exploded.

"Lisaaaaaa,” he roared as he emptied his seed inside of her at the same time she came again.

She screamed out his name on a ragged moan as her pussy clamped down hard around his dick, milking him of every last drop of cum.

He unhooked her legs and collapsed against her, panting heavily. He lay on top of her for several long moments, while she stroked her hands across his sweat drenched back. He lifted his lips into a satisfied smile when he heard her purr softly.

Mindful of his heavy weight, he finally slipped out of her and rolled to her side. He reached for her and pulled her against him, holding her next to his body as he ran his hands across her slick skin. He glanced down at her when her breathing settled into an even rhythm and smiled. Thunder crackled against the house but he knew she didn't hear a thing. She was fast asleep.

  Chapter Nine

Lisa bounded down the stairs and walked with purposeful steps toward the kitchen. She'd awoken that morning still tangled in the sheets of Adam's bed, but he was long gone. He had a fundraiser to attend on Monday and he needed to fly out of town that day. She'd been grateful for the reprieve. Despite the feverish heat that settled in her belly every time she thought of their explosive lovemaking, she was still embarrassed by her actions last night, hating that she'd been so needy. She groaned inwardly. She was so ashamed. Adam probably thought she'd used sex to draw him back to her, as he'd once warned her not to do. She knew the next time they saw each other he would probably want to have a long conversation where they agreed upon physical boundaries. Already she could hear the regret that would echo in his voice as he called their night a mistake. She gulped down a deep breath at the hurt that welled up inside of her at the thought. Last night would undoubtedly complicate things but it certainly wasn't a mistake. They still loved each other, and the out of control passion that had nearly scorched the sheets was a testament to this. Their bodies knew this, she did as well, but she knew Adam was determined to turn a deaf ear and a blind eye to the possibility that there was still a marriage left worth saving.

Lisa ambled through the winding corridors basking in the radiant sunlight that streamed in through the large bay windows. A sigh of pleasure escaped from her lips and despite the turmoil of her thoughts and emotions, she smiled. It was a beautiful spring Sunday morning and some of the kids from Fostering Friends would be arriving soon to spend the day swimming in their indoor pool and enjoying a barbeque. Every quarter she did something special for the students that made straight “A's” in school and she was proud to say that each and every year the number of students that achieved the goal grew and grew. Still she knew some students would never manage to ever make a 4.0 so she also rewarded those students who showed improvement at the end of the year. With the school year coming to an end in a few short months, she was gearing up for what was going to be a huge celebration. She was so proud of her kids. Many people had preconceived notions of children in foster care, but she knew that with just the right combination of love and attention every child could thrive regardless of their circumstances. And Fostering Friends was proving that each and every day.

She hurried into the kitchen, ticking off her to do list in her head, but stopped short when she nearly collided with Adam.

"I thought you were gone for the day.” She cringed at the nervous tremor that she heard in her breathy voice. She hadn't expected to confront him so soon after what happened last night so the shock of seeing him now had her all twisted up in knots.

"Aren't some of the kids coming today?"

She nodded dumbly, unable to say much else.

"Well then, I am here to help."

"But I thought you had to fly out to L.A. for a last minute fundraiser."

"I do, but it's not until tomorrow night so I just decided to stay the one night instead of getting there today. With the time change I can leave late tomorrow and still make it out there by dinnertime. I plan to fly back early Tuesday morning—hopefully on the red-eye if it isn't full."

"Oh. Okay.” She tugged on her bottom lip with her teeth, suddenly feeling nervous again. She hadn't planned on Adam being there so she'd asked a few volunteers to join her and she knew once she told him one name in particular he wasn't going to be happy at all.

As if reading her mind, he arched a single eyebrow and studied her. “Is there some reason why you don't seem too thrilled that I will be here to help you?"

She shook her head quickly—a little too quickly she figured, when he narrowed his eyes. “Oh, no. Of course not. I-It's just that I thought you wouldn't be here so I asked a couple of people to come by and help me out."

He folded his arms across his chest. “Alright. So, who's coming?"

She hesitated. Damn, she should have run this by him before she just assumed he wouldn't show up. “First, you have to promise me you won't get mad."

"I can't promise you that, Lisa, without knowing who you asked to come."

She blew out a long breath and nodded, knowing that he had a point. “Well, Sonya is coming, and she's bringing her cousin, Nyla Woods. You remember Nyla, the gourmet chef,” she babbled nervously. “Lacy can't come, but Richard will be here—,” she added when he nodded his head, before pausing for a moment to take in another long breath. He wasn't going to like this. “Oh yeah, and I sort of asked Marcus, too."

Adam gritted his teeth as he waved at the smoke that billowed from the grill where he was now cooking burgers and hot dogs for the kids, his eyes never leaving the good doctor who stood across the lawn.

  "Mr. Adam?"

He tore his gaze away from Marcus who was getting just a little too close to Lisa for his tastes and glanced down at Tommy. As soon as he looked into the inquisitive brown eyes of the adorable little boy, he forgot all about his mounting fury toward his unwanted houseguest.

  "Yes, Tommy?"

"Why do you keep staring at Mr. Marcus like that?"

Adam smiled proudly. Tommy was extremely bright and perceptive. He didn't miss a thing, no matter how subtle it was, and Adam had definitely been trying for subtle, although he'd apparently failed miserably.

  "Like what, Tommy?"

The little boy scrunched up his face as if he was trying to figure something out in his head before he said, “Like you don't like him."

Adam chuckled softly. Tommy was more perceptive than even he gave him credit for. He wanted to say that he didn't like Marcus, but he kept that thought to himself. For starters, Lisa would be furious with him if he put that information in Tommy's head but also because Adam didn't dislike the man. Marcus was a huge supporter of his campaign and Lisa's charity interests. He was also a good guy who Adam greatly admired and respected. At the same time he knew many women considered Marcus to be extremely handsome with his stocky build, and Ken doll, blond good looks. And he was determined to make sure Lisa wasn't one of them. Especially since Marcus looked at his wife like he wanted to have her for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

When Marcus drew closer to Lisa, he frowned. He stooped down on his haunches so that he was eye level with Tommy.

"Hey, buddy, can you do me a favor?"

Tommy nodded his head vigorously and flashed him a toothy smile.

"Great. Can you ask Ms. Lisa to come over here please?"

Tommy nodded again before he took off on his little legs in the direction of where Lisa stood.

He stood back to his feet and resumed flipping the meat on the grill, keeping his attention focused on the food in front of him. He schooled his features into a neutral mask, when a shadow fell across the grill.

"So you've taken to using innocent little boys to do your dirty work for you?"

He glanced over at Lisa who stood with her arms folded across her chest, wearing an irritated scowl.

"I don't know what you're talking about,” he said innocently. “But now that you're here, you can help me with getting these burgers together."

She lifted her brows, her expression incredulous. “Adam, you have the grill under control and when the kids are ready to eat just have them give you their plates. What could you possibly need my help with?"

Adam set the tongs aside, wiped his hands down his apron and turned to face her. Before she could protest he snaked his arm around her waist and dragged her up against his body. “This,” he said quietly before dipping his head to capture her lips in a quick kiss that sent shocks of electricity sizzling across his skin.

The sound of the kids’ teasing “oooooohs” and “aaaaaaahs” was the only thing that stopped him from deepening the kiss.

Lifting his head, he smiled down into her flushed face that registered shock. Mindful of the probing gazes around them, he eased his body away from hers.

Without the close contact, Lisa seemed to recover rather quickly. She shook her head and rolled her eyes at him.

  "You are so transparent."

  "What do you mean?"

"You know what you just did and why you did it.” She kept her voice low in order to keep their conversation from making it to the kids’ ears.

He grinned. “If you mean asking a child to get you to come over here so I could get you away from Marcus and then kiss you to send him a message, then yes, I know full well what I did and why I did it."

Lisa pursed her lips into a tight frown and shook her head again as if to say he was ‘such a Neanderthal.’ Without saying another word, she spun on her heel and stomped off but not before flashing him an annoyed look.

Adam grinned after her, letting his eyes drift for just a second to the subtle curve of her firm behind. He'd told Lisa the truth. He'd kissed her to publicly stake his claim on her, just in case Marcus hadn't gotten the message last time. But he also kissed her for another reason, and that was because he simply enjoyed kissing her.

  Chapter Ten

Adam wearily dragged himself up the stairs of his home. It had been a fun day, but long, and he was exhausted. He'd just packed the last of the kids in the van with Richard and Sonya who would drive them back to the center where almost fifty children called home. They'd all wanted to stay the night, but he'd told them ‘no’ since it was a school day, but he promised they could all stay in the large mansion another time this summer. He groaned aloud thinking of how he would survive with fifty children of all ages running wild in his home.

He smiled to himself as he rounded the corner toward the guest room down the hall. He would probably barely survive, but he knew he would enjoy watching his normally cold and stately residence come alive with the sounds of children bustling about. Already it felt just a little warmer and more inviting with Tommy there for the night. The little boy had developed a stomachache a couple of hours ago, and Adam had taken him upstairs to lie down. He still wasn't feeling well by the time the rest of the kids had to leave, so he and Lisa had decided to let him stay with them for the night. Adam had tucked him in and said goodnight about thirty minutes ago, but wanted to check on him one last time to be sure he was alright before he headed to bed.

As he neared the guest room, he slowed his steps to listen to the hushed voices coming from the room. He stopped at the door to peak inside, though he was careful to remain hidden from the occupants. He'd only planned to stay for just a second, but he found himself glued to the door jam when he heard his name.

  * * * *

"Okay, Tommy that's enough of Zac Power,” she said, closing the children's book she'd pulled from his book bag to read. “It's time for you to go to sleep."

"Aww, Ms. Lisa,” he grumbled sleepily, his eyes already starting to flutter shut.

She smiled as she stood to place a gentle kiss against Tommy's smooth brown forehead. She ran a hand across his short curly hair and just watched him for a few long moments before grasping the covers in her hand to tuck them beneath his chin.

Tommy was a sweet and wonderful little boy and she hated that at such a young age he'd endured more pain than a child so young should ever have to experience. He'd come to her center two years ago after his mother had died from a drug overdose. With no family to speak of and his father serving two life sentences in prison for murder, Tommy had ended up at Fostering Friends when he was just five years old. It broke her heart that he may never find a loving home to grow up in, that he could spend his childhood living in a group home for children. No matter how much effort she'd put into making Fostering Friends a family centered environment it still wasn't the same as a real home. Tears swam in her eyes. She hated that there were so many children that would grow up this way, and with limited resources she unfortunately could only help a small few. Still, she was glad she could even do that.

"Ms. Lisa, why are you crying?"

She sniffed trying to keep the tears from spilling down her cheeks. She hadn't realized that he'd opened his eyes to stare up at her, his expression curious.

"I'm not crying, Tommy. My allergies are just acting up.” She lied knowing Tommy was too smart to be fooled, but she hoped he would let it go. He didn't.

"But then why do you look so sad if it's just allergies?"

She smiled. “Well maybe it's not just allergies."

He stared at her for several long moments, and she felt as if he was probing her with his curious little eyes. “You looked sad like when you and Mr. Adam broke up. Are you broke
up again?"

She didn't know whether to laugh or cry harder, at the innocently spoken words that struck a chord inside her. “It's broken up, Tommy. And, no we haven't broken up.” She wanted to say ‘not yet', hating that in a way she'd just lied to a child who trusted her to tell the truth. She and Adam may not have broken up yet, but they would again if they didn't fix their broken marriage.

"That's good, because I missed Mr. Adam when you broke up,” he said, yawning before he let his eyes drift closed again.

She leaned forward to brush her hand tenderly across his forehead, a sad smile on her face. “Me too, Tommy. Me too."

  * * * *

He heard the soft click of the door closing behind Lisa as he stood at the large window in his bedroom. He did not turn to face her, instead he let his eyes roam over the wide expanse of the estate grounds as the afternoon prepared to give way to night.

"Tommy is all tucked in and fast asleep."

"That's good,” he said quietly before falling silent again. Nervous energy crackled in the room as silence stretched between them. He could almost hear the rhythmic thump of her heart beating as her eyes bored into his back, trying to figure out what was going on inside his head.

"You know, I really don't think Tommy will even notice that we aren't in the same bedroom. I will just go back to my room for the night and..."

He spun around to face her. “Why did you marry me knowing how badly I wanted children? What did you think would happen between us once I found out you didn't?"

She blinked at him with wide eyes. He knew he'd caught her completely off guard with his questions, but after seeing her with Tommy he had to ask. She was so loving with all of the children. It just confused him that she was so adamant about not having a child. It just didn't make sense and he was really just trying to understand her.

She took a hesitant step forward but did not move to close the distance between them.
