Her eyes flew opened. “You said my name.”

“Daisy, my love, I’m going to claim you now. I need you to come with me.” His hand worked her clit, sending uncontrollable shivers through her. She was close. He could feel her grip tighten and ripple around him. Her pulled her in, tilted her head to the side to expose her delicate neck. Finally, at their peak, he let go.

His teeth sank into the curve where her neck joined her shoulder. The coppery taste of her Terran blood flooded his mouth but his jaw would not release. Not yet. The mark needed to be deep enough for everyone to know that this female, this perfect female, belonged to him. After a minute, his fangs retreated. He washed the wound with his tongue. Part of him, the ancient feral part of his brain, knew his saliva sped along the healing process.

She remained still under him while he licked the wound.

Satisfied, he rolled to one side, bringing her with him. She nuzzled under his arm. The steady rhythm of her heartbeat created the sweetest music. His mate. His heart.

“Do you think we will be able to have children?” she asked.

  “Yes,” he said with certainty.

“How do you know that? What if the baby doesn’t… stay put? Inside my womb?”

He rubbed circles on her arms, enjoying the feel of her silky skin under his. “I know you are a miracle, Daisy Vargas. Your love is a miracle. Your laughter is a gift. You are my future and I do not worry because you are with me.”

She turned her face into his chest but he could feel her smile. “You are the sweetest, scariest damn thing I’ve ever seen and you’re mine. My superhero.”

  “Not your monster?”

“No, sweetie. Actions make a monster and all I’ve seen from you is one hundred percent hero business.” Her wonderful, delicate, perfect hand traced lazy circles on his chest. “Why don’t you have any tattoos?”

Mylomon took a deep breath. “I had no rank. No family. No point.”

Her fingers traced an invisible pattern stretching across his collarbone. “Hmm. I’m getting better at reading you. Now how about you tell me the truth this time, husband.”

“Clever female. I was an assassin.” He paused. She waited. “The tattoos glow when we become emotional. A glowing assassin is a poor tool.”

A smile spread across her face. “A glow-in-the-dark Mylo.” Then, “So that’s why you won’t wear a damn shirt.”

He cocked his head to one side, ready to listen to her deductions.

Her laughter started a quiet giggle, growing louder and more raucous until she was red in the face and couldn’t look at him. She rolled away, trying to catch her breath.

  “Are you well?”

“Yes.” Her shoulders shook with laughter. “It’s just… the funniest damn thing you’ve ever done. And it’s such a long con.” She turned toward him, eyes bright. “All those muscle-headed warriors ragging on you about having ‘no family, no name, no honor’.” Her voice switched to a mocking gruff tone. “And it was practical. And then you strut around like shirtless barbarian, flaunting it. You could have a tattoo now but you won’t because you like to make them nervous. That’s so spiteful.” The laughter came back. “Stars, you can be a dick. I love it.”

“My difference makes my clan uncomfortable. So I embrace that difference.” He admired the way her mind made quick connections. She was correct. The reasons were originally practical. Some in his clan would shame him so he forged that shame into a tool for agitation.

  “We call that ‘owning it’.”

Her laughter was melodious. Miraculous. It wrapped around his heart, settling in for a lifetime. “I believe I will get a small tattoo. Here.” He tapped a spot above his heart. “A small flower.”

Her laughter stilled but her smile remained. “Sounds absolutely terrifying.”

It was past time for Mylomon to put that shadowy assassin behind him. “I have much to celebrate. My clan needs to admire my rank, my miracle of a female and my growing family.” He gave her ass a slap for emphasis, before rolling onto his back. He pulled her over him, settling her above his hips and hardening cock.

  Her eyes went wide. “Again?”

His wife was a miracle that pulled a monster from the shadows. She was better than he deserved and he would spend the rest of his days worshipping the miracle that was her.

  Epilogue

  Vox

“What the blazing stars did you do to my baby?” The female’s voice was muffled as half her torso dangled inside the guts of the fighter jet. Clanking tools and the general noise of the hanger drowned out the string of expletives directed at the clumsy pilot.

  Which would be him.

But he really couldn’t think about that because underneath the smell of metal, grease and fuel was something like honey. Something just for him.

  His mate. His female.

  Finally.

“I brought her back in one piece,” he managed to say.

The mechanic snorted and crawled out of the engine. “If you call this one piece. Tell Paax that repairing experimental equipment is not high on my priority list.”

She was stunning. And filthy. Stunningly filthy. His female was pleasingly thick and strong. Grease marred her pale complexion. A stained cloth covered her head and held back vivid red hair. Freckles scattered across the bridge of her nose like stars. He needed to reach out and map each one; discover new constellations on her glorious body. He always did like freckles on Terran females.

“Hello? Earth to Fly Boy?” She tapped a wrench against the metal hull of the fighter. “I swear, they make you pretty but not too bright.”

Vox grinned. His female thought he was pretty.

“Stars,” she said. “You’re him, aren’t you?”

  Thank you for reading!
