The sound of someone moving around in the house wakes me up. I’m instantly alert. I grab my phone. My first instinct is to call Derek; I have no idea when I became so dependent on him. Instead, I start to dial 000. Just as I lift my finger to press send, Derek walks into the room carrying breakfast.

Oh my God! How could I have forgotten about last night? I cannot believe I done that. I haven’t had sex since I was with Caleb, and most of the time, I wasn’t a willing participant in that. But, I gave myself to Derek completely. If I was brave enough, I might even say that we made love. Love? Hell, no! I will never go there again.

I watch him walk towards my bed and decide to put a stop to this right now. “What are you still doing here? Aren’t you more of a fuck em’ and run kind of guy?”

Derek stops dead in his tracks. His face turns red, and I can tell he is getting angry. “What the hell do you mean by that?”

I shake my head and paste on a bitchy smile. “Well, I’ve heard that you don’t stay the night after you get off. So, I assumed your ass would be long gone by now.”

“Rylie, stop this shit. Right now!” he growls to me.

He’s not going to give. So, I am just going to have to lay it out. “Derek, you need to leave. Maybe, I heard wrong. You might stick around, but I like my fuck buddies to disappear after I’m done.”

He stalks towards me, with his fists clenched. “I don’t know what the fuck is wrong with you, but I’m not going anywhere.” Derek’s entire body is shaking in anger. I didn’t think this through. Derek is a big guy; he could hurt me as bad as Caleb ever did.

When he reaches the bed, I know what is coming. My arms fly to my face, and I pull my legs up to protect my stomach. I wait for the pain, but it never comes. “Rylie.” I hear him whisper my name.

I slowly lower my arms and look up at him. The anger is gone, but it its place is hurt. I start to say that I am sorry, but he stops me. He sits beside me and pulls me onto his lap. He places his lips against my hair. “I will never hurt you baby. I swear on my life that the last thing I would ever do is hurt you.”

  “Derek, I-“

“No Rylie, I get you’re scared. What that fucker did to you though is not normal relationship stuff. Not even close. It will be so good between us. You’ll see.”

“Can we take it slow?” I ask timidly.

He grins. “Fuck no, I’ve been taking it slow with you for months now. Doing that friendship bullshit when we should have been together from the start. We’re going warp speed.”

I don’t get a chance to say anything, he tosses me on the bed, and starts kissing me. “Gonna make love to you now baby.”

  Chapter 20

  Rylie

Derek never left since that morning. In fact, he has spent every night with me since. He keeps leaving stuff at the house. His toothbrush is hanging beside mine. His cologne and things are in my medicine cabinet. He even has a few shirts hanging in the closet. I know that he wants to move in, but I’m not ready for that. So, I just pretend that I don’t notice his things. We could be fifty, before I am ready to live together. Last time I lived with a guy, my life turned to shit.

But as time goes on, I get more and more comfortable with Derek around. I might have been fighting against it at first, but now, I find myself just enjoying it.

Today is Derek’s parents’ anniversary. I figured they would have a big party, but they didn’t want it. Instead, Derek and I are taking them out to dinner. We are just walking into the restaurant, when I see Elizabeth and William sitting near the back of the restaurant. I know instantly that something is wrong. Elizabeth looks mad as hell, and William looks frustrated. I look up to Derek. “Maybe, this was a bad idea.”

He looks down. “What are you talking about?”

“It looks like your parent’s are fighting.” I explain, motioning towards them.

He looks to them then back to me. He has a huge smile on his face. “They do this shit all the time. It’s probably something stupid.”

We walk over to the table and sit down. I’m so nervous that I think I might be sick. I really like William, and I don’t want to see him get angry with Elizabeth. If he hurts her, I will have to something.

Elizabeth looks up. “Rylie, can you please explain to my husband the importance of new flooring in the sitting room. The Berber is starting to show wear, and I think it should be replaced.”

Before I get the chance to respond, William starts talking. “I have told you a thousand times, I don’t care if you change the damn carpet, but I don’t want tile. The shit clinks when you walk on it. If you want tile, you are going to have to give up your heels. It’s your choice?”

Are they really fighting over carpet?

“I want tile. It last longer.” Elizabeth says.

“Well, then get rid of the heels.” William responds.

“I am not getting rid of my shoes. I cannot wear flats. They make my backside look frumpy.” Elizabeth says, with a pout.

William shouts out with laughter. “Baby, there is nothing that you could do to make your ass look frumpy. It’s the finest ass I have ever seen. I’ve been looking at it for over thirty years. So, I would know.”

Elizabeth’s face lights up. “Really even better than Monica Campbell’s?”

William pulls Elizabeth to him and kisses her in way that should not be done in public. “Her ass is shit. Couldn’t even hold a candle to yours.”

Elizabeth lets out a little giggle then looks towards me. “Rylie, you will have to come carpet shopping with me tomorrow.”

I nod my head. I am too shocked to open my mouth.

Derek places his mouth near my ear. “I told you it was something stupid.”

After the drama that was Derek’s parents, I realized they are completely nutty. I asked where Mary and Frank were, they apparently couldn’t make it today, because they couldn’t get off work to be here. But would be coming to visit on the weekend.

Halfway through eating I notice someone coming our way. “Elizabeth, William, what are you doing here?” The blonde says. I notice someone standing behind her, and when I glance over it’s Cecily. What the hell? I feel Derek tense up beside me.

“Monica, nice to see you.” William says. She just grins at him.

“Monica, this is Rylie, Rylie, Monica, she runs most of the charity’s you hear about around town.”

I nod my hello, and she looks at me as if she ate something sour. She glance to Derek. “Derek, how are you boy? Cecily here was telling me you two work together?” she asks taking a seat at the table. Cecily just standing behind her.

  “Yeah.” Is all Derek says.

“You two should get to know each other better. Cecily isn’t dating anyone. This is perfect. The Campbell’s and the Tremaine’s, getting together.” She says on a clap.

“Actually, sorry, no. I’m seeing someone.” He says as he puts his arm around my shoulders.

“Well.” She says looking at our cozy embrace as if she wants to take an ax to separate us. Then she decides to get rude. “You know that won’t last, she’s probably only with you to get her next fix.”

“You need to walk away. Or your husband just might find out about your affair with a certain female gym instructor.” Elizabeth says standing up.

Monica’s face goes pale. She doesn’t say anything, just gets up and leaves. Calling Cecily to follow behind her.

“Sorry Rylie dear, she’s a bitch.” Elizabeth says shaking her head.

“I can’t believe Derek chose that, that, ugh, over you!” Mother says screaming in our Rolls Royce on the way home. “What on earth is he thinking?”

I sit quietly, just staring out the window, watching the city as we drive by. “Do you know who she is mother?”

She takes her eyes off the road for a moment and looks at me quickly. “Should I?” she asks.

“Remember all those news reports about t
hat trial a few years back?”

I see mother frown. She doesn’t do that often, normally her Botox doesn’t let her do that. “You know I don’t watch the news.”

“Her ex-fiancé tried to kill her. Her face was plastered everywhere.” I tell her.

“She looks like that, no wonder. Poor guy, having to suffer in prison.”

I just sigh. Rylie just has something I want, if it wasn’t for that, I could see us being friends.

“You better be fixing this mess. Having the Tremaine name attached to our family, will have us be on top of everything. Most powerful families around.” She says as we pull into our driveway. Our family is already a powerful one, but the Tremaine’s are far more powerful. More money than anyone can imagine, more say in what goes on around here. Mother always wanted our name attached to theirs, to make our families practically untouchable, plus she wanted the Tremaine connections. She even at one point tried to make a play for William herself. William apparently told her he would never dream of cheating on his wife, and even if he wasn’t married, he wouldn’t touch her with a sixty foot pole. Mother was pissed. No, she was more than pissed.

  “Yes Mother.”

“Don’t you yes Mother me. I’ve worked for years to have you groomed properly to catch Derek’s eye. And now, he’s with that street trash, I just won’t have it!” she yells at me as I start to get out of the car.

“Don’t worry about it Mother, I already have a plan.” I tell her.

“You better, and you better make it soon.”

  Chapter 21

  Derek

We just got home a little while ago, and Rylie and I are watching movies. I keep looking over to Rylie’s, looking for signs that what happened at the restaurant got to her. I still cannot believe how much of a bitch Monica was to her. Not that she isn’t normally a bitch, but that was extreme even for her. I was surprised at Rylie’s restraint. Had I been her, I would have shoved my fist down the bitch’s throat. She brushed it off like it was nothing, which bothered me even more than Monica’s words. It was like Rylie was so use to being talked down to that it didn’t even faze her. She must have been beat down both physically and verbally her entire life.

I hear Rylie yawn, and I look over to her. Her eyes are almost closed. “You ready for bed, baby.”

She doesn’t answer, just stands up and starts walking towards the bedroom. I turn off the TV and follow behind her. I walk into the room, as she pulls her shirt over her head. I have felt Rylie without clothes on many times, but she rarely gives me a chance to see her naked. When we have sex, the lights are always out. She always changes her clothes in the bathroom, and she refuses to shower with me. The only time I’ve ever seen her scars is, when we were roller blading. Shit! Why didn’t I notice this before? Rylie is trying to hide her scars from me. That shit is going to stop right now!

I walk over to her, just as she notices that I am in the room. She shrieks and tries to pull the shirt back down. I reach her before she can get it on. I grab the shirt and throw it on the floor. Then, I start kissing her. I don’t give her time to think, before I push her onto the bed. I come down on top of her and start kissing her hard. I move to her neck and then her chest. When I reach her stomach, she starts to tense up. “I love your body, baby.”

She starts to say something, but I place my hand into her panties and slide two fingers inside her. I love how wet and ready she is for me. Her words come out as one long moan. I place soft kissing on each one of her scars, before moving down to her pussy. I pull her panties down and suck her clit into my mouth. I keep sucking, as I move my fingers in and out of her. Rylie’s hands are in my hair and she’s pulling on it. I get an idea. She’s being kinky, letting me eat her pussy the way I am. I take my pinky and bring it up to her ass. Slowly, I stick it in her ass. I hear her yelp but she doesn’t stop me.

“Fuck Derek. What are you doing? Oh. My. God.” She breaths out.

I smile as I keep sucking and licking her delicious juices. I could do this all day and night with her. I finger her pussy and her ass. She loves it. Her breathing gets faster and faster.

“Derek! Stop I want you in my mouth!” I slow down and get another idea. Damn this girl really is fucking dirty.

I stop eating her out and pick her up. Her sexy legs wrap around me. We make it to her bed and I set her down. I get on the bed and lay there. She’s looking at me confused. I take her hand and pull her down. “Babe. Get on top of me. Suck my dick and I’ll eat you out at the same time.”

Her eyes go wide and I know she’s loving the idea. She slowly does what I told her. She brings her pussy to my lips and then I feel her on my cock. Damn her fucking mouth feels good. She goes up and down. I keep sucking, as I move my fingers in and out of her.

  “Mmmm babe keep going.”

It doesn’t take long, before her pussy starts to convulse I lift her off of me and I look into her eyes, as I line myself up with her opening. “Never hide yourself from me, again!” I growl out, as I thrust into her.

I thrust hard and deep, never losing contact with her eyes. “You are the most beautiful woman I have ever seen, inside and out. I don’t ever want to see you hiding this amazing body from again. You are mine, and I want to see all of you.”

As soon as the words leave my mouth, Rylie finds her second release. I keep going harder and faster. After a few more strokes, I find mine.

I’m finally getting the scars on my stomach covered up. I called the local shop this morning, saying it was an emergency tattooing, at first the girl on the phone said I must be on crack, but when I didn’t say anything at all, she said to be in first thing, nine am. That my appointment would be with a girl named Skye. I’ve been using the cream Jay gave me for the last three years, and they’ve faded a bit. But they are still noticeable, so I want them gone.

I’m not gonna go freakishly crazy like I did everywhere else. Stomach tattoos, from what I’ve seen, aren’t all that nice, but what I’m getting will be. I decided to go with shooting stars over each scar. And under my belly button I’m getting the words ‘From pain, comes Strength.’

As I park the car, my phone rings. Derek.

  “Hey.”

“Hey babe, where you at? I’m at your shop but Erika says you’re not in until later.”

“Yeah, sorry, I have an appointment. I’ll be at your office for lunch.”

  “Ok, what kind of appointment?”

I smile. “You’ll see. Later.” I hang up.

Last night, after Derek told me he loved my body, and never to hide it from him again, I made my decision. The pain I went through getting the other scars covered up was brutal, and I was hesitant on getting them on my stomach. I’m not sure what Derek will think, but I wasn’t comfortable last night, with him kissing them, and even just seeing them. Now he’ll be able to look at something beautiful.

I get to the shop and let the girl at the front know I’m here for my appointment with Skye. I take a seat over by the windows and wait. I notice a petite girl walk out from the back room. She must have been here to get a tattoo, I think. But when I look up at her, I notice her skin has nothing. Strange, maybe she got a piercing?

She comes over to me. “Hey, you Rylie?” she asks.

  “Um, yeah.” I say frowning.

  “I’m Skye.”

  “Oh, uh, hi.”

She lets out a chuckle. “I know, I don’t look like your average artist. I have tats though, just covered up right now.”

We leads me down the hall to a room. “All right, now tell me, where do you want it, and what do you want.”

I pull out my drawling’s from my purse and pass them to her. “Wow, this is amazing.” She says looking it over. “Where would you like it?”

I pull up my shirt and she hisses through her teeth when she sees the scars. “I was told you would be able to work with these to cover them up?”

“Yes, I can do that, but you know it’s going to hurt
right?”

I nod, “Yes, I’ve already had other scars covered up. I know the pain.” She looks at me for a moment and gives me a sad smile.

She looks back to the paper in her hand. “So I take it you want the shooting stars over each scar? Would you like them in colors or just black and grey?”

Shit, I didn’t think about colors. “Um, would colors work to cover these, or would it be best for black and greys?”

“How bout we just work with the black and greys, I’ll do lots of shading, and maybe add some silver dust around the stars?”

  “Yeah, sounds great.”

“Ok, and what about the words?”

I pull my pants down a bit and show her the spot I want it, the spot that has the worst scarring. I don’t say anything, and she just nods.

  “Ok, lets get started.”

I lay back on the bed and she starts to put everything together on her stand.

As she starts to tattoo she starts talking to get my mind off the pain. “If you don’t mind, could you tell me what happened?”

I take in a deep breath. Most people still know, even here, what happened to me, luckily not all recognize me. But when they do, their looks are filled with sympathy. “My ex, um, he.” I don’t say anymore.

She cuts off the needle and looks at me in shock. “Oh my god. You’re Rylie Sullivan.” She says tearing up. “I heard about everything on the news. I’m so sorry.”

I smile at her. “It’s ok, it’s been years now, time to move on.”

She hesitates before starting back up. “My husband knew Caleb.” She says quietly.

I freeze at her words. “They were best friends growing up. When Caleb moved to Perth, Dominic never heard from him again. Not until the trial on the TV started up. Dom was pissed. Even visited him in prison saying he’s lucky he’s not on the outside. Dom never heard from him again after that. He just couldn’t believe he could do such a thing. For a while he was even denying he could do it. Until he saw your pictures.” She shakes her head.

“Caleb is dead.” I say quietly.

“Good riddance to the fucker. How’d he die?”
