He scowled. “I don’t know. But I intend to find out. Come, we must leave this place. I need to find answers and I’m not going to find them here.”

Cristophe handed her fresh clothes, more appropriate to the weather conditions, and then after they’d dressed and doused the fire, he clasped her hand and pulled her through the treacherous maze of the cavern.
They popped out of the mouth of the cavern and suddenly, Cristophe was jerked off his feet and flung several feet until he was pinned against the cavern wall, the shaft of a wooden arrow quivering from his punctured shoulder.

“I will kill you, wolf,” Cristophe snarled. “If you take her, you will have a price on your head. Every vampire, and your rival clan, will make it their mission to stop you from breeding. The prophecy must not come to fruition!”
“Be silent bloodsucker. Your days of subjugating my kind are over.” He motioned to the men gripping her tightly. “Bring the Breeder. I wish to sample her quivering little cunt before her cycle begins.”
Cassandra cast a helpless glance at Cristophe but there was little he could do to stop the wolves from Lichek’s clan from carting her off.
