“I don’t know, but it’s a blood bath down there,” he replied.

“We will find them, but there is something I want to show you,” I told him, knowing he’d be happy to see Cordelia.

We walked to the door and I opened it. Dean jumped in front of the girls, but when he saw it was us, he ran over and gave me the biggest hug. Then I saw Cam walk in. When he saw Cordelia, it was like magic. They ran to each other and they collided in a tight embrace. My heart was so happy for my brother that my sadness had dulled temporarily.

Cam stopped hugging Cordelia and looked at Anna. “What is she doing here?””

“Cam,” Cordelia spoke up, “Anna saved my dad and me. Please don’t hurt her.”

Dean explained to us what happened, and we all hugged Anna and thanked her for being brave. I apologized for kicking her in the head. She forgave me.

Then I remembered we had no time to waste. “I need help next door,” I told the group. “Gabe was stabbed by a dagger in his leg and he needs help.” We all walked out slowly, and when we entered the other room, he was gone. I started to panic and the room started to spin.

“Where is he? Oh no, where is Gabe? He was right here when I left. No, no, no… what if something happened to him. Dean?”

“Calm down; we will find him. Cam, have you seen Arabella?”

  “No sir, I haven’t.”

I could sense he was starting to panic, too. Our loved ones were missing in the middle of a battle. He started to pace, but the paused and looked up to me and mouthed Amelia’s name. What if she had Arabella and Gabe? This was not looking good at all.

  Chapter Fourteen

  Amelia

I walked out of the room where I had my husband trapped. He really pissed me off and now he went and knocked up my old best friend. Does she have any morals? I continued to walk to the room I was staying in. I slammed the door, picked up a vase of roses, and I threw them across the room and screamed. I hated them all; I wanted them all to die. I sat there on my bed and thought about the time when Dean proposed to me. He made it so beautiful and romantic; that was the day I knew he was my heart and soul, but then he turned around and broke me, heart and soul.

I held onto Dean’s hand as he walked with me behind the biggest castle in Ithaca. It was a beautiful day, not a cloud in the sky. I peeked at Dean to see that he had the biggest smile on his face. I had no idea what he had planned for me, but it had to be good. He told me to wear my favorite dress and keep my hair down. Therefore, I picked out my favorite purple sundress, and purple flip-flops. My family was very poor so I didn’t have a lot of nice clothes, but this dress was the nicest thing I owned. I was seventeen years old and dating the most powerful angel in Ithaca. I didn’t need fancy clothes or piles of money. Of course, we had to keep it a secret from everyone. I was sad about that, and I was just waiting for the day that he broke up with me. We stopped walking and I noticed there were over two-hundred white roses in the garden we were in. It smelled like paradise. Directly in front of me was a gazebo and it was decorated with white lights and daisies. Daisies were my favorite flower and Dean knew that. I walked over and smelled the roses and giggled. Dean came up behind me and wrapped his arms around me, and I smiled.

“Dean, this is all so beautiful.”

He kissed my neck. “Not as beautiful as you, my Amelia. Please, walk with me to the gazebo.” I turned and grabbed his hand as we walked up to it. Once we were inside, I looked back at Dean and he was down on one knee. My head flew to my mouth. I was speechless.

“Amelia, the first time I saw you in school I was connected to you. You are the most loving girl I know and I can’t believe you love me as much as I love you. Will you do me the honor of marrying me?”

I didn’t know what to say. I was only seventeen years old. “Oh my!” I exclaimed as tears fell from my eyes. “Yes, Dean, I will marry you. I’m ready to spend the rest of my life with you. I love you, too.

He stood up and slipped a ring on my finger. It was a princess ring that had several diamonds around the band with a huge diamond on top. He then lifted me up and kissed me. I loved that man so much.

Loved—as in past tense. Yet, as I came out of the memory, I felt tears against my cheeks. Why am I crying over this guy? He took everything from me! My life, my daughter, and now he was screwing Arabella. I got up and walked to my jewelry box. I opened it and saw my engagement ring sitting in it. I picked it up and threw it just as the door opened. Standing there, was the last person I wanted to see. She saw my face and tried to run. I zapped her with a low energy bolt and Arabella fell to the ground. I said a chant to bind her. I pulled her by the arm and threw her up against the wall. I walked out of the room and heard the sounds of chaos downstars. Then I saw True pulling Bridget up by her hair as she was kicking and screaming.

“Throw her in the room with that other bitch.” I said the chant to bind her and she fell to the floor, and True dragged her into the room.

Now, it was time for me to go spy on my husband and daughter before I killed them both. When I opened the door, I was surprised to see who was sitting there, waiting for me like bait.

“Well hello, Gabe. Where is your little girlfriend?”

I went over to the window to see that it was a happen reunion. Not if I could have it my way. I grabbed Gabe and pulled him by the hair to throw him in the room with the other ones. I decided to have them come to me so I would sit there and wait. This was the biggest room in this castle. Everything in the room had to be over three-hundred years old. Rumors were that the last evil witch stayed in this room, and that she was my flesh and blood. She was a brilliant woman, from what I was told, and I believe that she was. I wanted to outdo her; I wanted to be the most powerful witch that ever lived. I got up and looked out at the moon. Damn it, the time had passed. Now, what was I going to do? I wanted all the power; now I wouldn’t be able to do the ritual for thirteen more years. I walked over to where my spell book lay. What do I do? Then something popped into my mind. Yes, this should work, I thought as I flipped to a page in the book. I decided to sit back on the big bed and wait for them to find me. That’s when I heard the crowd, and seconds later my door flew open. They ran in, but I guess they didn’t see me on the bed.

I got up and they all jumped back. “You have no idea what you all did, do you? The blood moon has passed, so if I kill Cordelia I won’t be able to receive her powers.” They all started to smile in victory, but my next words stopped them. “So I have another idea.”

“Like what; wait thirteen years and torture me until then?”

I laughed. “No, sweet child. Something a little more dramatic; something I know can’t be un-done.” Dean stepped in front of Cordelia. “So during your family reunion, did you let our daughter know she was going to be a sister?” I asked my husband.

“Dad, what is she talking about?”

I started to laugh. “Oh, dear child; Arabella over there is carrying your brother.”

  “Is this true, Dean?”

“Cordelia, listen to me… I was going to tell you, but...”

“Don’t!” Cordelia yelled. “Don’t touch me! How could you!? Didn’t you learn your lesson the first time?”

She ran out of the room and Cameron tried to run after her, but I stunned them all into place so none of them could move.

I walked to the door and look back at them all. “Just wait until you see what I have planned for her. But right now, it looks like she needs her mother.” With that, I teleported out of the room with my daughter, taking her to the one place I knew I could execute my plan.

  Chapter Fifteen

  Kaleigh

Once Amelia was out of the room, we were able to move. I hated that she was so powerful. It made us useless and powerless. Now, she had Cordelia who knew where, or what she had planned. I looked around to make sure everyone was alright, only to see Gabe passed out. I ran to him to get him to wake up, but he wouldn’t.

“Come on, Gabe. Please wake up.” I wa
s shaking him, but nothing was working and I started to panic.

“Darling, back up. I will help,” Arabella gently cooed in my ear.

She placed her hand over the dagger and said a little chant. The dagger disappeared, and then she placed her hands over the open wound and said a different chant, and the bleeding stopped. Gabe’s eyes flew open. He looked around frantically and when he saw me he smiled. Then Arabella got up and walked over to be with Dean. She looked so pale and weak. I just hoped the baby was okay.

I sat next to Gabe while he held me. As I relished in the feel of his arms around me, Bridget’s fidgeting form caught my attention. She was pacing back and forth and mumbling incoherently to herself. I just hoped when this was over I could help her. Then I looked at Cameron, who was in an intense conversation with Anna. I was so glad she decided to help. That made me think about Cordelia. Her face looked so hurt when she found out about the new baby. I had no idea why, but I got the feeling it was because she didn’t want to share Dean so soon after finding him. Now, Amelia had her, and who knew what lies were being feed to that girl.

  “What are you thinking about?”

I looked up to Gabe “Cordelia. She was hurt by Dean and I just wonder where her head is. I don’t want anything to happen to her.”

“I know, Babe.” He gave me a soft kiss and then urged me to stand. “Well, we shouldn’t just sit here. We need to look around for clues.”

I told everyone to look around for any clues of what Amelia had planned. As we were looking, I noticed something shiny in the corner and I walked toward it. I bent down to pick it up, noticing that and it was an engagement ring.

“Dean? Is this Amelia’s engagement ring?”

He walked to me and grabbed it. “Yes, it is. I can’t believe she kept it. I thought she would have burnt it by now.”

“Well, maybe she still loves you. She is mentally messed up in the head.” That was Anna; I gave her an evil look and she backed away.

“Maybe, but it doesn’t change anything. I do not love her anymore. I did years ago, but she chose her fate.”

We all just stood there looking at Dean. I didn’t know what to say to that. Then the door flew open and Kale walked in. He looked so different. His black wings were out and he was glowing black. I’d never seen a dark angel with his wings out. His eyes were also glowing black—it was like he was a totally different person. He looked at me and Gabe with so much hate in his eyes. I was shocked and couldn’t move. It felt like time just stopped and everyone stopped moving. He shot a lightning bolt toward me and I knew I was going to die. I was going to be with my parents; all this pain and suffering would end. I wasn’t going to close my eyes. I wanted to look my killer in the face as he murdered me. Then I saw fiery red hair jump in front of me and fall to the floor. I looked at Dean and he disappeared and reappeared behind Kale with his white wings spread out behind him. He took his hands to Kale’s neck and twisted it. I heard the bone crunching snap, and then Kale fell to the floor. Then I fell to the floor, thinking this was all a dream. That Anna didn’t just jump in front of the bolt to save me like Daniel did—that she was not lying on the ground taking her last breath. My heart felt like it stopped for the hundreth time since the battle had started. I looked around the room and everyone was running to be with Anna. People were talking, but I couldn’t make out what was being said. I looked at Anna just lying there holding onto Arabella’s hands and shaking her head no. What was she saying no to? The room finally got back to normal and I could hear again.

“Arabella, it’s too late. I’m at peace. I did what I was supposed to do and it’s time to let me go.”

I had tears running down my face, and then Anna looked over to me. “Kaleigh, I’m sorry that I hurt you and Cameron, but promise me you will find Cordelia. She really loves Cameron, and I can see they are meant to be together.”

I grabbed her hand. “I promise, Anna.”

She mouthed thank you, and then closed her eyes. She took her last breath, and I screamed and got up and started to throw stuff. I went to Amelia’s spell book, but when I was about to throw it, something caught my eye. I stopped to read it and my hand flew to my mouth in shock. I turned around to Dean.

“Dean, I know what Amelia has in store for Cordelia and it’s not good at all.”

He walked over to me and grabbed the book from my hands. “Over my dead body! She will not cast this spell on my daughter.”

He started out the room and we all followed. He was yelling Amelia’s name in a rage. His wings were still out and flapping around. He was slamming his fist into walls, and each time his fist hit a wall more blood poured out. He didn’t tell anyone what that spell was and no one asked. It was bad, so very bad, I hoped we were not too late to save her. We rounded a corner to see there were dead creatures all over the floors. The stench was horrid. I had to cover my mouth because it smelled like burnt flesh. I saw some of our friends dead as well, and felt that familiar sadness overcome me once more.

“Amelia, if you do this to my daughter I will break your neck in half! Do you her me, you self-righteous bitch? I will kill you!”

I jumped back in shock. I’d never heard Dean that upset. I had no doubt that he would kill her without a thought. We were coming up to the end of the hallway and there was a huge door. Dean blasted it open to reveal a library. We all followed him into the gorgeous room. It was hard to believe a room like that existed in The Dark Castle. The books were very old and vintage, and I had the urge to sit for hours and scour the shelves. But I knew there were more important things to do right now. As we walked to the back of the library, we saw Cordelia on the ground holding her head as if she were in pain. She turned to look at us all and screamed.

Dean slammed his hand on a bookshelf and it knocked it over. “We are too late,” he grit out between his teeth, anger and sadness mixing to deepen his voice. “It has been done.”

  Chapter Sixteen

  Cordelia

When I opened my eyes, I noticed I was in some sort of library, and Amelia had a death grip on my arm. She was pissed because she missed the blood moon. Deep inside, I was grinning like fool. She couldn’t kill my father now. Yes, I felt betrayed, because I felt like he was casting me aside for a new child—the problem child for the new child who came with a clean slate. But he was going to be safe, and that was what was important. Amelia had what she wanted—me.

“You have me now. Please leave them all alone,” I begged her.

She laughed. “You are a silly girl. It doesn’t work like that. You should know that by now.”

“What do you have planned for me? Why don’t you just kill me to get it over with?”

“Can you please shut up? I need to find a book.” I started to walk behind her and I was about to put up my force field when she zapped me and I was bound again. I fell to the floor and I just sat there watching her talk to herself and looking through different books. I wish I knew what she had planned.

I started to think of my father, who was now expecting a baby with someone else. I felt like the new baby would replace me and he would forget about me.

“Yes, Cordelia, that will happen, but what I have planned will take away all of your pain.”

“Can you please leave my thoughts alone?”

She looked at me and just shook her head. “I found what I was looking for.” She grabbed the book off the shelf and walked to a table that was next to me. It had black candles, a pentagram cloth, what looked like a vial of blood, a goblet, and some incense. I watched as she lit all the candles and poured the vial of whatever that was into the goblet. Then she pulled out an athame and cut her hand. I watched as the blood dripped into the goblet. She grabbed the goblet and the athame, and walked toward me. She grabbed my arm. I had a feeling I Knew what was coming, so I tried hard to yank from her grasp, but it didn’t work. She sliced my arm and I watched the blood drip into the goblet. Now my blood was mixed with hers.

“Yes, that was blood in that vial,” she sai
d, reading my mind again. “It was blood the of our ancestor, Abigale. She was the most powerful witch of all time, until you and I came along.”

  “Was she a white witch?”

She slammed down the goblet and turned to me. “Do you really have to ask?”

By her reaction, I knew the answer to my question, but I still didn’t understand why she was mixing our blood together, or how she got the blood of a woman who had been dead for over 300 years.

“Hell, will you shut your mind off? You are really bugging me.”

I watched as she added herbs into the goblet, followed by wax from the black candle. She mixed up the contents in the goblet and walked over to me. She lifted the cup high in the air and said a chant in a language that sounded like Latin. I had no idea what she was saying. The window behind us crashed open and lightning striked. She took my head and tilted it back, forcing the stuff down my throat. I tried to spit it back up, but I couldn’t. It was so nasty, all I wanted to do was throw it all up. Just when I was about to give myself the Heimlich to rid my body of the vile liquid, I heard a loud crash coming from the front of the library. My throat began to burn. It was on fire, and my skin felt like it had millions of ants crawling on me and biting me. I fell to the ground and felt like clawing my throat out because of the pain. I heard voices and looked up to see Cameron, Kaleigh, Arabella, and my father. I screamed out in pain.

I fell to the floor and heard Amelia speak up. “Well, since you all ruined plan A, I just went to plan B. You should know I always get what I want, Dean.”

“What is happening to me? Please help me!” I screamed, desperate for relief.

Cameron ran for me, but Dean stopped him. Then I heard something that I never wanted to hear. “No, Cameron. She is evil now; Amelia has changed her.”

No, this can’t be happening, I thought but I knew in my heart that I was changing. I was becoming something that I never wanted to be—evil. I looked at the window, ran for it, and before anyone could stop me I turned and sent a blast that knocked everyone back. Then I jump out of the window and ran. I ran so fast and hard that my legs burned from the exertion. I needed to get away from it all. No one would be safe now. No one.
