With a final surge, she felt Raider’s thighs hit the back of hers, the deep groan he released sending tingles of pleasure through her limbs. He paused, chest heaving against hers as he savored being buried inside her for the first time. The press of his cock against her cervix caused Lyric’s core to clench around his girth, moaning at the combination of pleasure and pain it caused.

Grinding against him, she pulled at his body, the hair of his groin and thighs tickling against her. Pressing his nose to the corner of her neck and shoulder, Raider slowly withdrew, Lyric feeling every vein and bump drag along her inner walls before he pushed back into her core, the sound of skin slapping startling a gasp from her.

Setting a slow, steady pace, Raider licked and nibbled along her neck as he fucked her, Lyric’s moans growing with every thrust into her cunt. Feeling the tension in her belly growing, winding ever tighter, her blunt nails scratched at his back and arms as her body bowed.

Begging, Lyric lost all sense of anything outside of Raider’s body moving over and within hers. She was so close but needed more to reach the crest once again. Moving faster, she felt his cock growing thicker, tugging on her inner lips with each pull from her body until it began to be painful.

Moans broken by whimpers, Lyric’s head tossed from side to side, whispered pleas lost in the haze as Raider continued to torment her with his swelling knot, her orgasm just out of reach.

Thrusts becoming rough and frantic, Raider scraped his teeth along the side of her neck, sending a sizzling jolt of electricity straight to her clit. When he bit down on the muscle above her collarbone, he slammed his knot into her one last time causing Lyric to scream, her orgasm finally crashing through her.

The tension that had built throughout every muscle in her body released, chills flowing across her skin as her pussy milked his cock. Feeling every burning pulse of cum spray against the entrance to her womb as her muscles clamped around his knot and locked them together.

Vision going white before fading to blackness, shivers began to course through her as the heat that had built in her body flowed away with the last ripples of her release. She felt Raider’s hands wrap beneath her before he rolled them until Lyric lay on his chest, the deep, satisfied rumble of his purr pushing her further into the comforting darkness behind her eyelids.

  29. Lyric

When Lyric awoke the next morning, she was alone in the tent. The chill urged her to climb from the nest of furs and dress, poking her head out of the tent flap to find Raider.

  “Brudreena. Brudreena.”

As she looked around the protected space inside the earthen walls, she noticed one warrior trying to get her attention, though she didn’t recognize the word he kept saying. Not seeing Raider, Lyric cautiously stepped from the tent and made her way towards the alpha.

  “Yes? Where’s Raider?”

The warrior rattled off a string of words that left her mouth hanging open as her brows drew together. Shaking her head, she held her hands up before her to show him she didn’t understand.

“Bruegar go hunt wungtas,” the man said slowly.

She remembered the first word as the one they used for Raider, but she didn’t know the last word. Shrugging, she figuring it was some animal and nodded to the man to show she understood. Smiling, he turned and picked up something from beside the fire, holding it out to her.

  “Food. Eat.”

More interested in what he held, she moved closer, craning her neck to see what it was, but ready to bolt away if he attempted to grab her. Though she was sore between her legs, she could run if she needed to.

Gabbing the flat rock he held out, she realized there was a whole roasted rabbit laying atop it. Mouth watering as the scent hit her nose, she scuttled away from the warrior, crouching down in front of the tent she had slept in to tear into the juicy meat. Though the rabbit had been small and lean, it was enough to stuff her belly and leave her licking the grease from her fingers once she picked the bones clean.

Hearing a groan, Lyric looked up to see two of the warriors staring at her like hungry wolves in the winter. Tensing, she climbed to her feet, carefully edging around the two alphas to throw her bones into the fire and return the rock to where it had been. Backing towards the tents again, never taking her eyes from the men, she remembered the other omegas.

Feeling a surge of guilt, her eyes darted to the silent tent.

“Have the others eaten?” she asked the one who had spoken to her before.

Frowning, he looked down at her and shook his head, tapping his ear.

Thinking back over the words she knew and which ones he had used of her language, Lyric managed, “The other dreena, have they eaten? Food for dreenas?”

Gesturing to the tent where the other women where and miming carrying food, he seemed to realize what she was asking. Holding a hand up at her, he turned to the fire and lifted a pot she hadn’t noticed from the coals. Walking to the edge of the water, he crouched and sat the pot in the layer of snow built up over the ice. Using the hilt of his knife, he chipped away a chunk of the ice before plopping it into the pot. Stirring it with the blade, he returned to her and held it out, gesturing towards the tent.

Figuring he meant for her to take whatever was in the pot to the others, Lyric carefully grabbed the top edge where it wouldn’t be too hot and backed away. She didn’t take her eyes off of the men until she had backed into the tent where the other omegas huddled in their pile of furs.

Turning to face them, she saw noses lift, sniffing at the air. Cheeks flushing in embarrassment, Lyric realized the food in the pot wasn’t the only thing they would smell. Sitting the pot on the ground in front of the women, she back towards the opening of the tent.

“They gave me that for you to eat. Raider went to hunt something, but I assume we will leave once he gets back,” she blurted before bolting out of the tent at the knowing looks of the older two.

Lyric rushed into Raider’s tent, hunting for something to use as a rag. Not finding anything besides her dirty bandages from the night before, she took the very end of the wrap that seemed the cleanest and left the tent again.

Moving towards the frozen lake, the alpha that had fed her blocked her path. Once again, he let out a rush of sounds she did not understand the meaning of.

“I just need to get this wet. I need to wash,” she said, gesturing with the cloth so he would understand.

It took him a moment before he began to shake his head, reaching out and gripping her right bicep to pull her away from the ice. Chattering away in his language, he dragged her behind him as she attempted to dig her feet in and pull away. Giving in with a huff when he returned her to the fire, she crossed her arms over her chest and glared at the warrior.

Pointing to another pot hidden near the edge of the coals, Lyric realized he was telling her to use the warmer water in the pot. Smiling gratefully at him, she checked the temperature before dunking her scrap of fabric into the pot.

Withdrawing it and ringing the excess from the rag, she gave a little wave before entering the tent again. Starting with her face and neck, she cleaned herself the best she could with the strip of cloth before giving it up as pointless. Not only was his scent all over her skin, it was in her clothing, and she realized that they had probably all heard the whole thing last night anyway.

Flopping down onto the furs with a huff, it startled her when the door flap jerked back, and her eyes darted to the opening to see Raider striding inside. Smiling down at her, he held out his hand and pulled her back to her feet and into his arms. Mouth descending before she could think of anything to say, he stole her breath away and left her hot and trembling against his chest.

  30. Lyric

“I tried to make it back before you woke up. I went to go check on the wagons.”

Frowning in confusion as she looked up at him, Lyric said, “Your man told me you went hunting for wun… Wun-ts.”

  Chuckling, Raider said, “Wung-tahs. Wagons.”

  “Oh
,” she said, feeling her cheeks flush as she looked down.

“We can continue your language lessons as we ride to my village. Few of my people know your language, and I can’t have my mate unable to communicate.”

Looking back up at him through her lashes, Lyric smiled as she leaned into his chest, purring when he called her his mate again. He had said it before, but she hadn’t been sure he meant it. After him caring for her through the fever and then what had happened the night before, she was finally sure that she wanted to be his mate.

Though Raider had moments where he was rough and callous, he had never harmed her when he had ample opportunity to do so. He had waited until she was ready to take her, when most would have used her from the beginning whether or not she was willing. It would still be a couple of months before spring came, bringing her heat with it, so he could fully claim her, and she was sure by then she would be more than ready for it to happen.

“So, did you find the wagons?” she asked him after basking in the warmth of his arms for a few minutes.

“Yes, they were closer than I expected. They are already moving towards the village. We will catch up to them once we break camp.”

Nodding, Lyric reluctantly pulled out of his arms, kneeling to fold the furs and prepare to leave. Raider leaned down and pressed another kiss to her forehead before going outside the tent to pull up the stakes and take it down. It wasn’t long before she was back in the saddle of the great black horse, heading towards her new home.

The other omegas rode with the warriors once again, huddled under blankets until they caught up to the wagons where they returned to the cage.

“Do they have to be locked up?” she asked Raider, looking up at him with a pleading expression.

Giving her a small smile, he replied, “It’s really more for their comfort at this point. I know none of you are used to riding, and they are warmer in there with the furs piled over them and the cage blocking the wind.”

Eyebrows raising, Lyric nodded and faced forward again, watching the land pass by. Though a lot of it was buried under snow, she could still see that it was a beautiful place, with mountains framing two sides of the valley they traveled through.

Raider spent the ride teaching her new words, and she tried to speak to him in his language as much as she could. A lot of their words were similar enough that she could guess at the ones she hadn’t learned yet if he spoke slowly. She spent the night in his tent, wrapped in his arms as she lay across his chest, falling asleep to the sound of his purr and his heartbeat against her ear.

They didn’t make it to his home until late the next day, riding through the village as twilight descended. There were a few shops and open stalls in a clearing at the village center, but she didn’t very see many houses. The village seemed to take up a larger area than hers had though it appeared less populated.

Most of the warriors broke off of the procession as they approached the village, heading to their own homes as the wagons continued on, following Raider to a large cabin north of the village proper. He had the men leave the wagon full of goods but released the omegas and ushered them all inside.

Huddled together by the door, they watched him cautiously as he got a fire going. Lyric looked around, taking in the sight of her new home. There was a large window in the front wall by the door, the fireplace in the wall to the left, and the kitchen area along the back wall. The right wall was taken up by a stairway leading up to a loft where she assumed his bed would be. There was a small door in the back-right corner of the main area which was open and looked to lead into a bathroom.

Pulling Lyric into his arms, Raider turned to the other three omegas cowering before him.

“I know the past few days have been rough, and I apologize for what has happened. My village will be your new home now, and I hope you can settle in and make a new life here. I’m sure you expect to be claimed by an alpha, and you will be, but I will not force you into anything right away. As long as you behave, I will give you until the ground thaws to choose the alpha who you wish to claim you. There are many here who will try to win your attention, and some will have first rights to try, but I will allow none to take you by force.”

Lyric could hear the gasps of surprise from the others, her own mouth dropping open. She never would have expected Raider to give the women a choice in who they bonded with after kidnapping them from their homes. He constantly surprised her.

“For tonight, you can take my room above, and tomorrow we will find you a more permanent place to stay until you have chosen your mate. You can speak with the women of the village to find a place for yourself here, but do not think you can leave. This is your home now, and if you cause problems, I will choose your mate for you and make you remain isolated until you bond.”

Giving them a stern look, each omega nodded her head at him, a hint of hope showing in their features for the first time since the trip began. Nodding back at them, he told them to make themselves at home before pulling Lyric to the low couch that sat between the window and fireplace.

Settling into his lap, Lyric’s features pulled into a pout.

“What? Are you not happy with my generosity?” Raider asked with a raised brow.

“I appreciate you giving them a choice and not forcing them to be with whomever you chose to give them to, but why was I not given the choice?”

Smirking, Raider grasped her chin in his fingers, leaning forward until his lips brushed against hers.

“Because you are mine,” he growled, Lyric’s lips parting as she sucked in a breath before he claimed her mouth.

Losing herself in the kiss and his warm hands on her body, she admitted she didn’t really want a choice, because it wouldn’t change anything. She would choose him.

  Epilogue

Lyric’s heat came upon her suddenly, taking her by surprise, though Raider seemed to have known it was coming. He had been keeping close to her for a few days, keeping her busy at his cabin instead of going into the village.

She had been hot and irritable, growling to herself as she broke up the ground to create a garden outside of the front window, when the first cramp hit, doubling her over with a gasp. Raider had been splitting wood under a nearby tree, but froze mid-swing, gaze locking on her.

Heaving for air when the cramp released her, Lyric could feel the wetness soaking into her pants. Staring back at Raider, she gave him a weak smile before the next cramp hit. Moaning and grasping her belly, her eyes clenched shut before she felt his large hands wrap around her.

Lifting her into his arms, Raider carried Lyric inside and up the stairs to the bed they shared. Laying her in the middle of it, he pulled off her clothes before turning to the pile of bedding in the room's corner. They had collected blankets and pillows over the time they had spent together since coming to his home, and Lyric did her best to arrange them the way she wanted in between the bouts of pain radiating from her belly.

When she was finally happy with it, she turned and looked at the alpha prowling back and forth across the floor. His dark irises were lost to the pitch black of his pupil, a low growl rolling from his chest. Eyes never leaving her body, he continued pacing, waiting for her invitation to the nest.

Slick flooding from her aching channel, Lyric watched him. He had stripped while she worked on the nest and his whole body was on display for her, cock standing proud before him, bobbing with every step he took.

Growl flaring as she made him wait, Raider’s muscles clenched. They had come to learn each other’s bodies over the past few weeks, and he could tell she wanted him. That she was ready, and ripe to for fucking, and yet she still didn’t invite him to join her.

Sitting in her nest, on blankets already soaked with her fluids, Lyric watched her alpha as he grew more agitated. Something was missing. Something wasn’t right, and she didn’t know what it was. Fidgeting, womb clenching in pain, her nostrils flared, drawing in the scent of the alpha waiting to breed and claim her.

  Eyes widening
before narrowing to glare at Raider, she lifted her lip, letting out a soft snarl. Freezing in place, his own gaze narrowed and grew more predatory. An alpha in rut wasn’t going to allow an omega to challenge him, and Lyric shivered in anticipation as he began to stalk closer.

Leaning back until she lay flat in the nest, Lyric let her knees fall to the sides, opening herself for her alpha. Stopping at the end of the bed, Raider growled at her again, eyes locked on her spread pussy as slick seeped from her channel. Nostrils flaring to draw in her sweet scent, he leaned forward, nuzzling into her lower belly before licking his way over her mound to her folds.

Lyric loved the attention he gave her with his tongue, but that wasn’t what she needed. His tongue couldn’t stretch and knot her to get rid of the pain. Threading her fingers into his loose hair, she tried to pull his head up, but he ignored her, drawing a gasp from her as his tongue lapped at her clit.

Unable to stop her hips from thrusting upwards, Lyric ground herself on his face for a moment before tugging on his hair again with a growl. Teeth nipping the lips of her pussy, Raider grumbled at her, plunging two fingers into her core.

Moaning and writhing on his hand, she forgot for a moment that she needed his cock instead. Pressing down on his thick fingers, Lyric could already feel her first orgasm barreling towards her. Never letting up, Raider continue to lick her as the tension in her core finally burst, sending shockwaves throughout her body as she drenched his face in slick.

Pussy trying to milk his fingers, Lyric trembled under his assault as the sensations became too much and she tried to pull herself away. Relenting, Raider sat up, wiping his face as he grinned down at her.

Without warning, he reached out and gripped her hips, flipping her over. Breasts pressed to the bed with her ass in the air, a thrill went down Lyric’s spine when Raider gripped her hair in one hand. Using his other to rub his cock through her folds, he teased her until she was begging for his cock.
