The Chosen Trilogy Boxset

“He was right there in the final battle,” Ceriden said. “I saw him.”
“Really?” I looked shocked. “I didn’t see him.”
“Didn’t see him?” Cleaver blinked. “He was flying that last fucking F22!”
My mouth fell open and I couldn’t speak for a moment, but then I saw Cleaver’s lips trembling and heard Ceriden guffaw. We all laughed with them and our infectious good humor caught on. The noise level in the casino raised a bit. The human spirit remained good and sturdy and incredibly resilient.
“I guess we might stay here for a while,” I said as I felt tiredness begin to sap my body. “Stick with friends until we regain our strength.”
“And then we’ll find some planes,” Belinda said, “and fly to the UK.”
My heart lifted to hear her say that. I’d been wondering if she might want to remain in America. I looked at Lucy and saw uncertainty there. I guessed we’d cross that bridge when we came to it.
“But for now,” I said. “We’re survivors. We’re warriors. I think we should enjoy a few days’ vacation time.”
Belinda shrugged. “Where do you wanna go?”
I laughed and it felt good. I felt good for all of us and for those we’d lost along the way. We would honor their memories any way we could.
And we would face whatever came in the next few years with everything we had. We were human. We were Ubers. We were the future of our world.
We were Chosen, Guardians and Heroes.
THE END
Typing ‘The End’ on this book marked more than a ten-year labor of love for me. It’s been a lengthy wait, and I want to thank all the readers who stayed with me through the long journey and especially those who kept asking for the end of the trilogy. This is for you as much as anyone. I really wanted a fitting finale, and this one’s not far from the one I originally envisioned, long before I’d published any books at all. I hope you feel that I’ve done it justice.
