Thank you, too, to the Loechle family: Sue, Paul, Eric, and Annie. Were the rest of the world more like you. And to Jason Skipper, Evan Kuhlman, Ramon Jones, Liana Manukyan-Crosby, Randy Steckevicz, Angelo Veneziano, Mark and Olivia Hunter, Susan Doremus, Jhon Marshall, January Simpson, and the Rooksberrys. With friends like you, who needs armor?
I’ve dedicated this book to my parents, but other members of my family deserve recognition as well, including my brothers, Dean and Brian, who, over many years of backyard baseball games and going long, helped me grow a thick skin—essential in this business—and their wives, Anne and Phirin, and children, Samantha, Alex, Luke, and Lillian, who every day have a new lesson to teach me about what it means to love. The same can be said of my Zurbrugg and Ramsey and Uhrick aunts, uncles, and cousins living in and around Fort Wayne, Indiana, which was and is and always will be home.
Most of all, my love to Eric Meeuwsen, my soul mate and best friend, whom I’m pretty sure I’ve loved since hunter-gatherer times.
