“Fine I’ll be over in a minute, but I don’t find this funny. You’re not taking anything I said seriously are you?”

  “Please Fran just come over.”

“Alright be there in half an hour.”

Sandy knew she hadn’t told her friend the whole story of the night before, but it would have been too much. That was private, personal, and even though Fran was her best friend, she couldn’t have told her it. Fran already thought she was crazy, Sandy could tell by her response about the story.

She made some tea; it was a drink that she and Fran shared all the time. Black tea, it was delicious, as she brewed the drink, she thought of all the good times they had in the past over a cup of hot tea.

Fran walked in. “So what the, wait you did lose weight, how, what?” Fran stumbled through her sentence.

  “I told you how.”

  “But I didn’t believe you.”

  “I know you didn’t.”

“You also said he made you irresistible?”

“Yes, two guys gave me there numbers today. One of them was a kid I’d gone to school with, he even commented about how nice I looked.”

“But it’s not. I don’t get it.” Fran shook her head still puzzled.

“I’m not complaining. So this guy is Jack. Let me call him and see if you can tell anything from it. You know about the being irresistible and all.”

“Alright, go ahead.” Fran sipped her tea, letting it calm her frayed nerves, this was very bizarre.

Sandy dialed the number he’d given her earlier in the day.

  “Hello.” A male’s voice answered.

“Yes I was looking for Jack.”

“This is him, how can I help you?”

“Hi, this is Sandy Collins, I ran into you today at the grocery store.”

  “Hi Sandy, how are you?”

“Good, well I was wondering if you’d like to go out tonight.”

“I have no plans, what would you like to do?”

“How about dinner and a movie?”

“Okay, sounds good, name the time and place. Or would you rather I picked you up?” He asked.

“No it’s okay; I’ll meet you at Bamboo Express. Say around six or so?”

“Alright sounds good, see you then.”

Sandy hung up smiling. “See I told you, he asked me out.”

“I think it’s more to do with your self-esteem, you seem a lot more confident.”

“Fran, really? It’s okay, I have to get ready for this date, and I only have an hour before I have to meet him.”

“Can I help you with your makeup?” Fran had always loved doing makeup.

“Sure, just don’t make me look all slutty.”

They laughed at the comment. Fran still thought Sandy was a virgin, though she knew better, she wasn’t going to let Fran in on just how slutty she had felt after waking up from a hot steamy dream last night.

After her makeup was done, Fran stood back. “You look fabulous dear.”

She stood up and looked in the mirror. “Oh wow, is this really me?” Sandy touched her face, pinched her arm and jumped at the pain.

“Yes it’s you. I always told you what a wonderful look I could create on you, the right colors just make your eyes beam out at everyone.”

“Thanks Fran. I really appreciate it.”

“You’re very welcome. I hope you have fun tonight.” Fran hugged her friend.

  “I sure hope so too.”

They walked out to the car together, saying goodbye once again. Sandy noticed how tightly wound she was, her nerves were frayed with worry.

“What if he’s one of the bullies who used to pick on you relentlessly?” Sandy asked herself while she drove.

Thinking for a second that it was possible, she hadn’t placed his face at all. “I guess I’ll just walk out the door. Tell him no thank you, I can do better.” She puffed her chest out feeling confidence that wasn’t really there.

Sandy walked in and saw him at a table. He stood up and waved to her.

“Hi, you look great.” He smiled as she sat down.

  “Thanks.”

“I was shocked you called to tell you the truth. I was pretty sure you had absolutely no memory of me.” He admitted.

“Truthfully I really don’t Jack, I’m sorry. But I thought that shouldn’t hold me back from getting to know you now.”

  “I’m very glad.”

“So tell me more about yourself Jack.”

“I’ve been traveling since we graduated, after I got out of school, I went over to China for a few years, and from there I went to Japan. I’ve immersed myself in Asian culture for so long, I almost feel like I’m one of them.” He laughed.

“That’s really neat, did you do anything while you were there, work?”

“Of course, I used my skills that my father had taught me and ran a few of the companies over there.” He looked at her cautiously. “You really don’t remember me at all do you?”

  “No.”

“Here, this is a picture of me when I was younger.” He pulled out his wallet.

Sandy looked at the picture. He wore glasses, had braces, and was one of the smartest kids that had gone to school with her.

  “Jack Sims?”

“Yeah, I look nothing like I did at that time I know!”

“Not one bit!” Sandy admitted, looking at the man sitting across from him, gone were the braces, and glasses as well as the zits she could now remember had adorned his face.

“I know, you’re thinking thank goodness!” He laughed.

“Actually looks have never mattered to me. To tell you the truth I was wondering if you had been one of the kids who’d picked on me during school, I’m so thankful you aren’t.”

“No I had my share of the names as well, and I kept pretty much to myself. Studied all the time, and hid in the computer room when I wasn’t taking a class.”

“At least you had somewhere to go hide.” Sandy looked down at her plate.

“I know kids were very cruel in those times, if I ever had kids of my own, I’ll make sure they don’t have to suffer through the same things as I did.”

  “Me too.”

“So tell me about yourself Sandy?”

“Not really much to know, I work as a secretary at a law firm, it’s a boring job, but pays well.”

The chatting was nice, and Sandy and Jack had a really fun time. Jack showed Sandy how to use chop sticks, and she tried as hard as she could.

“If this was the only utensil I could use I would lose a ton of weight!” Sandy chuckled as more food fell on her plate instead of going into her mouth.

“I think you look just fine.”

“Thanks.” She turned bright red at the compliment.

“So what movie did you want to go and see?”

“I’m not sure. There are a few out that sound pretty good. Did you have any that you wanted to see badly?” She asked him.

“To tell you the truth I’m not really into anything romantic, unless it’s a true comedy as well. But I could enjoy either Batman or Avengers.” He smiled.

“I like Batman too. He’s always in the shadows! Let’s go see that one.”

After the decision had been made, the rest of the night was spent learning a bit more about one another. As the evening wore on, Sandy became a lot more relaxed, even opening up a little more to Jack then she had expected.

He paid for dinner and bought the tickets for the movie. Sandy felt bad. She hadn’t invited him out so he could pay for it all.

“If you want anything to drink I’ll buy it.” She told him.

“No, I’m good, but if you want something let me know.”

“I’m good. I just don’t want you to think I planned on you paying for everything.”

“Hey I’m the guy, aren’t we supposed to do that?” He laughed.

  “Alright.”

After the movie was over they both glowed about how good it was, and what they thought would happen
next.

“Do you think they’ll do a Batman and Robin movie next?” Sandy asked him.

“Well I’m not sure, but it would be really cool if they did!”

“Yeah they could go so many ways with it!”

“I’m really looking forward to the new Superman movie. I sure hope they didn’t mess it up like the last one.” He commented.

“I know. It was really bad.”

“Who would have ever guessed you were into super heroes?”

“No one ever tried to get to know me, well I didn’t help that out by just hiding away either I know. But after so many times of being bullied, it just wasn’t worth taking a chance on people.”

“I really wish I would have gotten to know you when we were in high school, you’re a really cool woman, though you would have been a girl at that time. I’m sure you were just as interesting!” He smiled broadly.

“Yeah, it would have been nice!”

“It’s been really nice. Would you like to go out again?” He asked her.

“I think I’d really like that.”

“I’ll give you a call. I want to plan something special.”

  “Alright!”

Getting home Sandy reflected on the night, it had been one of the best of her life, Jack had been a really nice guy. The fact that he said he’d wished they had known each other better in school had made her smile.

Knowing that tomorrow would be busy at work, she tried to wind down quickly. Falling asleep with a smile on her face for the first time in sometime, she dreamed of the fabulous night her and Jack had on their date.

Getting up late the next morning she rushed to make it into work, and wondered what the people in the office would think of her new figure?

“Good morning Mr. Johnson, did you have a good vacation?” Sandy asked her boss.

“I had a lovely time, thanks for asking! Did you have a nice vacation too?” He smiled at her.

  “Yes, thanks I appreciate it!”

“You look like you’ve lost quite a bit of weight.”

  “A bit, thanks for noticing!”

“We have to do your yearly review this week, remind me please.”

“I will, I almost have it typed up.” Sandy chuckled.

“Sorry I know it makes no sense to have you type it up and then do the whole face to face thing. But to tell you the truth, I can’t type worth a lick, and it would be another year before I got it done!”

  “It’s fine really Mr. Johnson.”

“Tell you what call me Shawn!”

“Mr. Johnson that’s not professional enough, I’m sorry.”

“You are quite the stickler for the rules.”

Sandy went to work, but she noticed how many times Mr. Johnson came out to just talk to her, not about anything in general. She also noticed the looks he was giving her, and wanted to avoid anything that might be inappropriate.

“How would you like to go out for lunch?” He asked her.

“I would, but I’m trying to catch up on a few things, thanks for the offer though.”

“Sure, would you like me to bring you something back?”

“Maybe just a raspberry tea, if you don’t mind.”

  “Not a problem.”

She went back to work after he walked out the door. That was way too odd, he’d never asked her to lunch before, and Sandy was sure that lunch would have led to more personal things being talked about.

A few minutes later she was shocked to see him walk in the door. He was carrying some bags, and took them into the conference room.

“Since you didn’t want to go out, I’ve brought lunch in!”

  “Honestly, well okay!”

“I hope you like Greek food.”

“I’ve never tried any of it to tell you the truth.”

“Great, it’s fine. I won’t let you eat anything too bad.” He laughed.

Sitting down, he placed a few things on a plate, telling her what each of them were. He placed the plate in front of her and smiled. “I hope you enjoy.”

  “Thank you very much.”

Sandy was surprised at how good the food was, trying each of the items he’d given her. “This is really good.”

“Yes Greek food is good, I’m glad you like it. So tell me Sandy are you seeing anyone?”

She was shocked by the personal question.

“Well I had a nice date with a guy from school, I don’t know if it will work out or not, but we have another date.”

“Oh, well, if you want to we could maybe go to Louis this weekend?”

“I don’t know if it’s such a good idea to go out, after all you are my boss.”

“It’s not a date, just a get to know each other thing.”

“Mr. Johnson, we can talk here, I really don’t think going out on a weekend is wise.”

“How about if I told you if you didn’t I’d fire you?”

“What? You’d fire me for not going out with you?”

“No, I wouldn’t. But I wish you’d think about it.”

  “I’ll consider it.”

  “Good.”

Sandy sat there eating the food. She didn’t really like this at all, but he had said he wouldn’t really fire her. However, the fact that he had even said it made her a bit nervous. She would just have to keep putting him off though, she knew that going out with him, even if he said it wasn’t a date just wasn’t very wise.

Before leaving she avoided Mr. Johnson so she wouldn’t have to ignore his advances anymore, it had become quite irritating during the work day. She stopped at the store to pick up a few items, getting up to the register Sandy placed her few items on the belt.

“Is that all for you today miss?” The young cashier asked her.

  “Yes, thank you.”

“I’ve got some great news for you, today you are the 100th customer and that means you get everything free.”

“Wow, really? That’s very cool.” Sandy was shocked.

  “Congrats, have a nice night.”

As Sandy was walking out she saw the young male place his own money in the register. That’s odd she thought, but wasn’t sure if it was because of her items or not.

Walking to her bedroom, still a bit preoccupied with everything that had gone on today, she jumped at a knock on the door.

Opening the door, there stood a delivery man with a bouquet of flowers.

  “Ms. Sandy Collins?” He asked.

  “Yes, that’s me.”

“Here I have a few more items in the van for you.” He handed her the bouquet and walked back to his truck.

Coming back in had another two vases, both with red roses in them. “Thanks.” Sandy said, and began to close the door.

“Ma’am I’m not done yet, I have a few more still.”

“How many are a few more?”

“Two more vases.” He answered and walked away to get the other two vases.

“Here you are.” The young delivery man came up with the two other vases, and another bouquet.

“I thought you said there were only two more vases?” She questioned him.

“I had an extra one in the van, and you’re so beautiful I wanted to give you one myself. There’s a card there with my number on, give me a call sometime and we’ll go out on the town.” He smiled and left.

Sandy looked at the other flowers and cards. They were from her boss Mr. Johnson with a note about going out on the weekend.

The third one was the one she enjoyed the most though, it was from Jack.

“Had a blast going out, looking forward to next time. Pick you up at six tomorrow night! Jack.”

She smiled about that one, in truth it would have been the only one she wished to get.

Going into the bathroom, she looked into the mirror. It looked like she’d lost a few more pounds from the day before.

Jumping on the scale, she looked down to see it at 165. “Wow another ten pounds, I kind of like this!”

Getting into the shower, she turned
the water on warm and let it glide over her body. It felt great, washing away all the stress from the day, and any thought of the flowers. The only thing that was on her mind was the next date with Jack, and that was the very next night. Though her mind would still go back to that first time she’d had sex, when the demon had raped her. There was a part of her that had enjoyed it too much, or so she felt.

Sandy sat thinking about calling off sick the next day, but knew it wouldn’t go over really well. Plus her own ethics wouldn’t allow her to be so deceitful. Instead she would just find ways to put off Mr. Johnson about the weekend.

Sandy laughed, if he was as persistent tomorrow as he had been today, she would have to turn him down at least ten times. She had to laugh a bit harder at this thought, because in the past this much attention from most men would have pleased her.

The next morning came too quickly, her sleep had been unpleasant too, she’d dreamed of all these men chasing her through the streets. No matter how many times she’d tell them no, they would just keep coming.

She remembered Mr. Johnson from the dream, the flower guy, and even a few people she’d seen in the grocery store the day before. In the background she’d seen the demon laughing at the mess she’d created by her desire’s to be irresistible.

Sandy hoped today would go quickly at work and that tonight with Jack would be as nice as the very first date.

“Sandy, good morning. Did you get the flowers?” Mr. Johnson said before she had placed her purse inside her desk.

  “Yes, thank you very much.”

“So have you thought about it yet?”

“I have another date tonight with the guy I was talking about yesterday. Let’s just wait and see how that one goes.”

  “Oh.” He said.

If that was the only time today he bugged her Sandy would be thrilled, but she was sure it would not end up being that way at all. Sure enough he came back from lunch and handed her a small package.

“What’s this for?” Sandy asked him, looked at the little package that was wrapped nicely. It looked like it had come from Niemen Marcus.

“Just something I picked up at lunch for you.”

“I can’t accept this Mr. Johnson.”

“Nonsense, it’s for all the hard work you’ve done for me through this past year.”

Sandy knew it wasn’t worth fighting over the fact of whether or not to open it. She pulled the paper open and the box to find a beautiful and very expensive diamond bracelet.
