Epilogue
The following day the media reported that an explosion had taken the lives of eleven high ranking officials in government and business. The explosion was attributed to a natural gas leak and was reported as an unfortunate accident. It was noted that the officials involved were meeting to plan a nationwide charity event to assist underprivileged children. All the attendees were hailed as heroes.
Two days later the body of Speaker of the House Gilbert Herbert Stockman was discovered in his condo in Washington. The coroner reported that Speaker Stockman had suffered a stroke, fell, and hit his head on a piece of furniture. The resulting traumatic brain injury caused his instant death. Everyone in the government lamented this terrible accident to such a respected leader. He was posthumously awarded the Congressional of Freedom for his outstanding service to the United States of America.
FBI Director Harold M. Stancil fully recovered and was appointed National Security Advisor to the President following the unexpected resignation of Jon Crawford for personal reasons. The first action in his new position was to order that the captured terrorists along with their 16th street mosque associates be secretly shipped off to Guantanamo Bay to be sequestered in a separate holding area indefinitely.
It was later reported that a branch of the Environmental Protection Agency detected a dangerously unsafe level of Radon gas in the 16th Street mosque, which required it to be condemned. It was later demolished and today a Hobb’s Country Barbecue restaurant stands on the old site. Their specialty is pulled pork.
The Junior Senator from the State of Texas, Bill Cruze, entered the Republican primary and was nominated. He easily defeated Vice President Alex Broome for the Presidency. Broome later disappeared and was never located.
Special Agent Gerry Stewart was offered the position of Director of the FBI but declined the promotion and remained Special Agent in Charge of the Houston Regional Offices.
Ahalya Verma Singh, alias Macy, is presently working undercover in the Governor’s office in the State of Illinois. A corruption indictment is expected soon for Governor Jack Biden.
Aabish Lini Malik and Aalim Mohammad Alam, The Chosen One, were never captured. Many unconfirmed sightings have been reported in Syria, where they are said to be working directly with Abu Abdullah al-Amriki, the ISIS High Commander.
Senator Michael Roberts resigned from the Senate and politics. He joined the Raleigh, NC law firm of Ramsey, Davis, and Longmire as a senior partner. His daughter Lisa graduated from Yale law school and also joined the firm, which after the retirement of Davis and Ramsey was renamed Roberts, Roberts and Longmire.
Stancil and Stewart never spoke of Robert’s involvement with any of the top-secret activities. Five years after the death of his wife Susan, he married Diana Hamilton, a Professor of Literature at North Carolina State University. Lisa adores her and she is presently pregnant with a baby boy.
Michael Edward Roberts never again got lost in the maze of life.
