Leaving the great corridor, I leaned down to Jill. She was so distraught. The concern for our daughter was obvious, but unwarranted.
“Jill, sweetheart, I was right. I think Eve loves the necklace. It looked lovely around her neck.” Jill leapt into my arms, searching my mind. She saw Jenna slip the necklace around Eve as she picked her up from the ashes. Adoni didn’t realize Eve was never going to be his – the robed figures that had collected our daughter and removed her from the ash were Jenna and her father.
“Jenna will be a good mother to her, and one day we will see her again.” Jill smiled as she reached for me. “Now in celebration, where can a wife have a private moment with her husband?” She ran her hand down my chest.
I blushed.
“Vixen! How do you do that, even in the heavens you can make me blush!” She pursed her lips and batted her lashes at me in flirtation. I embraced her, realizing that even in the form of a god, I still liked it - a lot.
