“I will take the test.” Ryker gripped Gabriele’s hand harder.

  “So will I.”

Isa smiled at them both as Asurul appeared by her side. “Asurul.” Gabriele stepped forward. “I know by accepting to take this test that I am no longer obligated to guard Ayden. But seeing how he is so very weak, I would like to stay by his side. You won’t have time to train a new hunter and Ryo is still recovering. So is it alright if me and…” Gabriele smiled up at Ryker, “Ryker stay with Ayden?”

“Gabriele.” Asurul looked at the sincerity in her eyes. This woman that he didn’t even want to train, and only did so because Isa insisted, has turned out to be one hell of a hunter. Her devotion to Ayden touched Asurul, but also shamed him. He dismissed her abilities so quickly simply because she was a woman. “I would be honored to have you both continue to guard Ayden.” Asurul started to walk away. “Thank you,” he quietly said as he went to find Ayden.

“Words are not enough to thank you both.” Isa watched Asurul walk away. Her demon, so afraid to show his emotions, she knew Gabriele’s words touched him profoundly.

“I owe you much, Isa.” Gabriele walked over to her. “Thank you.”

“For what Gabriele, it is I who should be thanking you.”

“For giving me a chance to redeem my soul, it was because of you Asurul trained me.”

“You redeem your soul Gabriele. I only saw your potential.” Isa hugged Gabriele tightly. Isa looked over to Ryker. “Second chances are a rare thing Ryker. Make sure you make the most of yours.”

  “I will.”

“Now I must tend to my son, then I must check on Ryo.”

“How is Ryo?” Gabriele said as she grabbed Ryker’s arm.

“He will heal.” Isa went to Ayden.

“Are you afraid?” Gabriele asked Ryker.

“Only a little.” He pulled her into his arms. “Where are you leading me now huntress?” He gazed deeply into her beautiful blue eyes.

“Straight to the nearest bed I can find.”

“Mmmm, my thoughts exactly.” He reached down and scooped her up into his arms.

  “I can walk you know.”

“I know, but I just love sweeping you off your feet.”

“Well I have to admit I love it when you do.” She leaned her head onto his shoulder as he carried her from the room. She felt so safe, so loved, so wanted, cradled in his arms. She never thought she would find this kind of peace.

Ryker held her closer. “I love you,” he whispered, nuzzling his chin to the top of her head.

“I love you, Ryker.” She looked up into his warm eyes. “Now hurry up and find us that bed.”

  “Right away huntress,” he chuckled.

Elizabeth sat silently in the large tree and watched as Ryker carried Gabriele into a small cabin. She felt Lucas’ familiar hand on her back. “She finally found him.”

  “Him?” Lucas held Elizabeth closer.

“My sister finally found happiness.” Elizabeth couldn’t stop her tears from falling.

“Don’t cry.” Lucas tilted her head back and licked the falling tears from her face.

“These are not tears of sorrow, Lucas.”

“I know, I wanted to taste your happiness.”

Elizabeth leaned back into his embrace. “She deserves it.”

“Come let me take you home.” Lucas held her tightly in his arms as he took flight.

  “What about Tasmos?”

“He has gone home as well.”

Elizabeth held Lucas tightly as they soared to the heavens.

Tasmos didn’t hear Prolo enter, he was lost in his thoughts gazing out across the realm of Heaven.

  “Tasmos,” Prolo’s voice startled him.

“Master forgive me for disobeying your orders.”

“No need for that. Do you feel better now that Kannon has paid for his crime against you?”

“Somewhat, but his death doesn’t give me back Alisha.”

“Come Tasmos, I wish to show you something.” Prolo teleported them to his castle. Tasmos followed Prolo to a small crystal pond.

  “What is this?” Tasmos asked.

“Something you shouldn’t see, but I can’t stand your pain.” Prolo waved his hand over the water and an image of a woman giving birth shimmered across the ripples of the water.

“I don’t understand.” Tasmos watched the joy of the new mother as the child was placed in her arms.

  “Alisha’s soul has been reborn.”

“What?” Tasmos fell to his knees.

“The Creator granted her life.” Prolo went behind Tasmos then squatted behind him. He wrapped his arms around Tasmos’ shoulders and leaned his head against him. “If she proves herself worthy, I will choose her soul to become a guardian angel again.” Prolo ran his hand through Tasmos’ thick dark hair. “A gift for you, my most beloved Archangel.”

  “Master, I …”

Prolo kissed the top of Tasmos’ head then left him in the room alone. Tasmos sat down, he reached his hand out to touch the newborn, but once he touched the water the image distorted.

“What are you going to name her?” the nurse asked the mother.

  “Alisha.”

Tears fell down Tasmos’ face. “I will wait for you, Alisha.” Tasmos closed his eyes. “Creator, please let her have a happy life on earth. I will give anything to ensure it.” He slowly opened his eyes and looked once more at the newborn. The tears streamed down his face as the image disappeared. He quickly gathered himself and flew back to his home. He looked out his window towards the meadow where he and Alisha used to make love. It was once again full of color and life.

“Thank you Prolo,” the words shook as he spoke.

  Epilogue

Jasmine gripped the steering wheel tighter. She had been driving for twelve straight hours. She didn’t know why she was compelled to go this way, but it didn’t matter. She had to get distance between her and them. Damn her husband for getting involved with those men. She didn’t really think he would trade her life for his, but when she overheard him tell those goons it was her that took their drugs and money…Jasmine hit the steering wheel. What was she going to do now? How much longer could she run from them? They were bound to catch her, then what? Despair took over her. “Damn you Johnny,” she hissed as she hit the steering wheel again.

  “Keep running Jasmine.”

She didn’t know whose voice kept echoing in her head, but in a strange way it was soothing. Maybe she was loosing her mind and to be honest at this moment, she didn’t really care. She pressed the gas peddle and prayed that whatever compelled her forward would help her.

Ryo jerked awake. “Shh, you still need to rest.” Isa placed her hand gently on his chest and laid him back down.

“I have to heal.” He felt Isa put him back to sleep.

Isa watched Ryo sleeping restlessly. “Asurul, his connection with that woman is strong.”

“As too were the other hunters and their soul mates.”

“Not like this. These two have never met and yet he can touch her mind.”

“That is because you showed Ryo his fate.”

“Perhaps,” Isa stood and wrapped her arms around Asurul. “Ayden is not gathering his strength. I feel his despair.” She looked up into Asurul’s face. “What if he has given up?”

“Then we will help him. Let’s give him some time.” Asurul hugged Isa tighter. “Gabriele, Ryker, Saban and soon, Ryo will be healed, they will watch over him. And I can always call on Michael, so don’t worry Isa.”

“It’s not his safety I am worried about. It’s his heart, Asurul.” Isa started to cry. “How much more must my son endure?”

“Isa…” Asurul held her as tightly as he could. He blamed himself for making both of them go through this. His words cursed them all.

“Asurul don’t beat yourself up. I don’t blame you for any of this.” She reached up her hand and cares
sed his face. “You loved me and wanted to protect me, so don’t ever blame yourself for any of this.”

“But I do, Isa.” He kissed her gently. “When Ayden’s suffering is over then I will forgive myself.”

“Asurul…” Isa leaned into his embrace. She knew there were no words she could say to ease the burden of his conscience.

“Jasmine I will protect you!” Ryo screamed out in his sleep.

Isa went to him and gave him soothing touches. “Ryo’s will is so strong.” She ran her fingers through his long, soft, ebony hair.

“This one is your favorite isn’t he?”

“Yes, he has gone through so much and yet his heart remains so giving.” Isa stood up and tucked the sheets around Ryo. “He will be fine now.”

“Make love to me Isa. I need your tenderness now.”

Isa gently grabbed Asurul’s hand and led him out of the room.

Ryo dreamt of Jasmine and only hoped she could hear him and somehow his voice would soothe her until he was healed and able to protect her.

  The End.

Not even Hell could keep him from her
