Chapter Twenty Eight
Ned seemed like a different person when we got there. Bright, alert. Mallory didn’t want to tell him anything about what had happened in the last twenty-four hours but he seemed to know something had changed.
Mitch sat on the edge of his bed and Mallory hung back by the wall. I gave Justin a nudge and the two of us walked out of Ned’s room to give them some space. It gave us a second to talk anyway.
“You sure she’s safe now?”
I nodded. “The less you know the better, but yeah. She’s safe.”
“Hmm. There was a report on the news that a biker hangout got burned to the ground last night. Two men ended up in the hospital. ATF got called in. Turns out there were a bunch of stolen guns in the place after all the dust settled and the flames burned out.”
“That so?”
“Yeah.”
“Wouldn’t know anything about that. I run a clean, legit business right here in Lincolnshire.”
Justin nodded. “She loves you.”
I smiled and looked down. I cocked my head to the side when I looked back up at him. Justin leaned against the wall and crossed his arms in front of him.
“I love her too,” I finally said.
Justin nodded. “Okay. Can you promise me shit won’t get messy like that around you again?”
I chewed the side of my lip. “No. I can’t. But I can promise you she’s safe with me.”
Justin smiled. “I kind of figured you’d say that. Well, then, I guess that’s all I can ask. She’s made up her mind about you, I think. That is if last night hasn’t made her come to her senses. I told you, she’s stubborn like that. What about him?” He gestured with his shoulder toward Ned’s room.
“Well, that’s gonna be up to him. I gave Mallory some brochures. There’s a place I can get him into. Up in the U.P. It’s called Heroes Helping Heroes. They specialize in getting guys like him straight and on the right path.”
“You don’t think it’s too late?”
I shook my head. “As long as he’s still breathing. You think there’s a chance he’ll go?”
“I don’t know. He looked different just now. Clearer than I’ve ever seen him. And she said he listened to you the other day more than he’s ever listened to her or other family. Maybe you’ve got the magic touch.”
I shrugged. “Nah. I just know a little about the kind of demons that might be chasing him.”
Mallory opened the door and stepped outside. Her eyes were red from crying and I went to her. She put up her hands.
“No. It’s okay. It’s more than okay. Kellan, he said he’ll go. To that rehab place you found. He’s already made arrangements with his doctor. They’re releasing him in the morning and he’s getting on a plane.”
She stepped into my arms and I rested my chin on the top of her head, breathing in the sweet scent of her hair. Justin caught my eye and smiled.
“It’s not a magic fix,” I warned her. “But it’s a good sign.”
“I know. But I’ll take what I can get.”
We stayed at the hospital for a little while, making sure Ned had everything he needed. When we left, Justin took Mitch with him. His mother wanted to make the kid a home-cooked meal and smother him for a few days. It was a good plan. He needed it.
And it meant I got Mallory all to myself. We didn’t say much on the ride over to my place. She just stared out the window and kept her hand on my knee. She stayed silent like that after we got home. She took a shower and I waited for her, climbing into bed.
We’d gotten so close but the last twenty-four hours might just be enough to make her come to her senses like Justin said and want to stay far away from me permanently. But she was here now so I took it as a strong positive.
She came out of the bathroom and stood in the doorway naked, her skin glistening with beads of water where she hadn’t quite toweled off. It was late. Moonlight poured through the window and shadowed her in blue. She smiled and crawled into bed beside me. I held her tight and close and didn’t know if I’d ever be able to let her go again.
“You sure you’re okay?” I asked her for the thousandth time.
Mallory nuzzled against me, resting her head in the hollow near my shoulder. She practically purred her answer.
“I shouldn’t be. I should run for the hills. But somehow, I can’t imagine being anywhere other than right here, Kellan. I think that means I’m hopeless.”
I laughed; brushing the hair away from her face, I kissed the top of her head.
“You came for me,” she said, her voice soft. “I can’t believe you all came for me.”
I pulled my head away a little and hooked my fingers under her chin.
“What are you talking about?”
She looked up at me, her eyes glistening with fresh tears. “I know what you risked. What you’re still risking by doing that. What if the cops come after your club?”
I shrugged. “You don’t have to worry about that. And they won’t. That’s all you need to know.”
“Kellan. There’s something bad about that club.”
I couldn’t help laughing at her comment. “Well, yeah.”
“No.” She sat up and drew her knees to her chin. It was a defensive posture that tore at me a little. “No. I mean. They didn’t talk to me much. And I didn’t see anyone other than those two creeps who were with me in the back room. At least not until the end.”
“They are never going to get near you again,” I said. I had to fight to keep my voice from rising.
She put up a hand. “I know that. That’s not what I mean. I wanted to tell you but everything’s been so crazy. They kept saying things about handing me over to some Russians. One of them threatened to, you know, do things to me. I think it was just talk to scare me. Other than throwing me in the van, they didn’t really hurt me. But they were going to give me to whoever these Russian assholes were and they referred to me as merchandise. Kellan, those guys were into something bigger than just messing with your club.”
I blew a breath out hard, trying to fight back the urge to smash something again. They wouldn’t come near her. As long as there was breath left in my body, those assholes would never touch my girl or my brothers again. But I couldn’t tell her more than that. There was trouble brewing bigger than just the threat to my club. And it might get a lot worse before we made it better, but that was a fight for another day. For now, I needed to trust that Sly and Dex knew what they were doing. The day they needed help from Lincolnshire, I’d be there.
For now though, the threat had passed. My club was safe and so was my girl.
“Baby. I swear I’ll never lie to you. But there are going to be some things I won’t be able to tell you. This is one of them.”
That little crease formed between Mallory’s eyes. I held my breath while she thought about what I said. If she wanted out, it would have to be now. It would tear my guts apart, but I couldn’t pretend what happened to her wasn’t because of me. She put a hand over her mouth and blew out hard before she finally looked back up at me and my heart stopped.
“Okay,” she finally said.
“Okay?”
“Yeah. The thing is, Kellan, I’m in love with you. All the way. And you came for me.”
“I’ll always come for you. You and Mitch. Even your dad. You’re part of me now. And this club. You’re not alone. You’ll never have to face this stuff alone.”
She smiled, went up on her knees and cupped her hands around my face. Her hair fell over me, tickling my chin as she leaned down and kissed me.
“Does that make me your old lady? Am I officially a biker bitch? Do I get my own jacket?”
“You watch too much TV.”
She straddled me and I slid my hands across her hips. Her ass was firm and round and I gave her a solid spank that made her gasp. Then I felt the reflexive heat between her legs. Yeah. My girl liked to play. My cock stiffened and Mallory moved against me.
“I want you,” she whispered,
leaning down to kiss me again. I’d wanted to be gentle. Give her space after everything that happened, but Mallory had other ideas. I pulled her close with one hand on that sweet ass, the other against the small of her back. Mallory started to thrust her hips against me, her legs opening wider as she tried to find my cock. And I wanted to give it to her. I wanted to lose myself in the depths of her slick, hot wetness.
But not before I had her begging for it.
I flipped her over with a movement so quick she squealed. Her sexy laugh sent a jolt of heat straight down to my dick. Yeah. I wanted to hear her make that sound for the rest of my life.
I put my hands on her thighs and coaxed her to spread her legs wide. She was only too eager to comply. Moaning, she arched her back and I positioned myself between her sweet, creamy thighs.
“Kellan,” she panted my name.
I teased her. Showed her no mercy with my tongue as I licked and stroked her most sensitive pink flesh. She was wet. Dripping. Her poor little clit throbbed beneath the tip of my tongue as I brought her to the edge. She quivered beneath me, struggled to open her legs even wider.
“Baby,” she cried. “Please!”
That’s what I needed to hear. I played with her just a little longer, until I felt the first shuddering waves as she struggled to find her release. Then, and only then, did I bring myself up on my elbows. I hovered over her. Her eyes were closed and she bit her bottom lip as she thrust her hips upward. I wasn’t even touching her anymore but she still felt those rising waves of pleasure.
“Look at me,” I whispered.
Her eyes snapped open and flared. She wrapped her legs around me and groaned as I slid into her.
Mine. She was mine. I pumped and thrust inside of her as she ran her nails down my back, trying to pull me in even deeper.
I’d tried to give her sweet torture, but it was she who tortured me. I couldn’t hold on a single second longer. Mallory felt me seize up and she squeezed her thighs around me tighter, drawing me in.
“I love you,” I whispered as I came fast and hard. “I love you.”
She held me close as I poured myself into her. I knew she was struggling not to let go herself, letting me ride out my own pleasure before she gave in to hers. When she did, I knew it would be explosive.
It was.
I held myself still so she could find the friction she needed. Then, my Mallory. My sweet Mallory. She quivered around me as her orgasm ripped through her. It was as if her body couldn’t contain the sensation. She clawed at the bed and threaded her fingers through my hair. On and on she thrust, bucking and writhing beneath me, milking me of every last drop of pleasure.
Finally, she crested down and let me hold her. I drew her close and kissed her.
“I love you,” I said again.
When she could open her eyes again, she looked at me with that intense fire that had me hooked from the second I first saw her. On that stage, she’d held a crowd in her thrall. Here though, she belonged only to me.
“I love you too,” she said, her eyes shining.
“Crazy, huh?”
She laughed. “Well, you definitely keep things interesting.”
Man, I loved that sound. But as she settled against me, I knew the time was right. I’d seen a lot in my life. Survived things I shouldn’t have. When I knew what I wanted . . . when I was sure . . . there was never a good reason not to go for it.
“You’re the one for me, Mallory. Do you get what I’m saying?”
She got quiet, looked at the ceiling then finally back to me. “Yes.”
“I said I won’t lie to you. Things could get nuts again. Probably sooner rather than later. I’ll keep you safe. That’s a promise. But I want you in my life on a permanent basis. You think you’re ready for that? Because I’m all in where you’re concerned. No more running. No more pushing me away.”
She brought a hand up and caressed my cheek. “Yeah. I think I’m ready for that. Because things are probably going to get nuts in my life again too. They always do.”
I nodded. “Fair enough. I can handle your crazy if you can handle mine. Because I mean it. You’re family now. You and Mitch. Maybe even Justin a little bit.”
She laughed. “Well, Mitch is going to love to hear that. He was hoping you’d teach him how to ride a Harley.”
“Deal!”
“Oh, no, you don’t,” she said, lobbing a pillow at my head.
“What do you mean? Now that his sister is a bonafide biker bitch, it’s only natural.” I pulled her against me, loving how she laughed and wriggled. I pinned her wrists above her head. Her eyes flashed with lust.
God, I was ready for her all over again.
“I am too,” she said. I narrowed my eyes at her, not clear on what she meant.
“All in,” she answered. “I’m all in, Kellan. I want to be. You sure you can handle that?”
I leaned down and kissed her. With the growing heat I felt between her legs, I knew I wouldn’t be able to hold back much longer.
“Baby, you better believe it.”
Her husky laughter filled the room as she raised her hips and guided me all in.

Exclusive Sneak Peek of Sawyer by Jayne Blue
Sawyer
Of course, she was there late. Working. Helping. Getting paid shit. She was the guardian angel this town didn’t even know it had.
And she was sexy as hell.
I stared for a moment. The overhead lights were off in the office. It was probably some money saving timer.
A small desk lamp cast a soft glow around her.
Brunettes were never my speed, but Bess Geary had gorgeous dark hair, she wore it up. I’d never seen it down, except in my imagination. Her long legs were crossed at the ankle under the desk, she was a
lways the lady always dressed for work.
I walked up to her, my boots hitting the floor made her look up.
“It’s late. What are you doing here,” She asked and Bess’s chocolate eyes scanned me. My biker exterior couldn’t be more of a contrast to her classic beauty.
Everything about her was sexy to me. I loved those pencil skirts she always wore, the gray streak at her temple, and her passion. I wanted to be inside that energy and heat that came off her in waves. I craved it.
“I was looking for you. You didn’t show up. I got worried.” Lately if I didn’t know where Bess was, I couldn’t focus. Her presence or lack of it was becoming a central part of my existence.
Bess took off her glasses and leaned back from the pile of papers she’d been hunched over.
“That’s new. I normally do the worrying.”
“Yeah. Time to clock out. I’m taking you out of here.”
“I can’t. I have work.” I stepped closer to her desk and gripped her chair from behind. I slid her chair away from her desk.
God, she smelled so good. It wasn’t perfume, it was her.
I leaned over her and switched off her light. I closed the file.
I watched her chest move up and down. It wasn’t just me that felt the attraction when we got close.
She’d been pretty damn insistent she wasn’t interested. She was old enough to know that the president of an MC came with complications. But I’d had enough. I’d waited too long. I wanted her. Now. Consequences be damned.
I put both hands on her shoulders and eased her out of her chair. She was still as a statue but for her breath. There was a half second that she could have pulled away, said something funny, put up a wall. But she didn’t.
It was the opening I’d been waiting for. Patiently. Since I’d first met Bess Geary.
I put my lips on the back of her neck and inhaled that scent of hers.
My teeth scored her soft skin and she leaned back into me. Her round ass pressed up against me. I slid my hands from her shoulders to the top of her silk blouse. A sigh escaped her gorgeous full lips.
That sigh let me know she was in. All in.
I turned her to face me and surrounded her in my arms.
