Temple of the Market Saints—located on the Avleurine hill. The Market Saints are the patron saints of all traders and merchants.

Ynescho Xandelian—the Old Duc, grandfather to Isangell, Ashiol, Bryn, Keil, Jemmen, Zade and Phage, father of Artorio and Augusta. Ruled with an iron fist until his wits gave way; his wife, Duchessa Givette, took over as his Regenta.
Zafir—an eastern country rich with culture, source of the popular ‘princessa and djinn’ plays that are a regularly revived trend in the Aufleur theatres and musettes.

NOTES
The Fasti of Aufleur
The Aufleur calendar, or ‘Fasti’, has three named days—the Kalends (first of the month), the Nones (nine days before the Ides) and the Ides (full moon—which falls more or less in the middle of the month). Generally people only refer to days in relation to these, for example it was four days after the Ides, it was two days before the Kalends.
The day after each Kalends, Nones and Ides is ‘nefas’—unlucky.
‘Market-nines’ refers to the market-day that happens every nine days in the city, but falls on different days each year, and thus is not part of the permanent calendar.
