  “You ten fighters front and center, who is the oldest and strongest in this group? I want all you guys to stand guard and protect all these children with your life. Put them in the panic room behind the wall in the Alpha’s private office.”

  “But, Luna, we can’t do that. We have always been told not to put anyone in there, except for the alphas family.”

  “Well, I’m telling you differently. If you get in trouble, tell your Alpha to come and deal with me. Now go do what I told you guys,” I told the men.

  I waited for the pack warriors to secure all the children before taking off toward the black smoke. The scene was chaotic, uprooted trees scattered everywhere, members of the pack fighting in wolf form. I can understand fighting in wolf form but shouldn’t part of them be in human form too. It was a bloody situation; I was taking in the scene of devastation. When I spotted Jay over by the lake surrounded by several rank and dirty wolves. One attacked him from behind as two others tried to get him from the side while he was being held around his neck by a man I had never seen before.

  Making sure there were no distractions around me. In complete concentration, I stretched my hands out in front of me as an enormous wall of fire appeared blocking the border. Now nobody else can sneak in and join the fun. Swirls of wind and ice fell, knocking those confined in the center to the ground. Scowling at the men who had my mate surrounded, something snapped inside me.

  As Serena came out ready for revenge and paying no attention to anybody. All she wanted was the heads of those threatening her mate and the children here. With speed and force, I had never felt my hands ripped the heads of all the wolves. I sank my teeth into the neck of the man holding Jay as a hostage. The man fell to the ground releasing Jay from his hold. The last thing I hear before the world goes black is Jay saying how much he loved me.

  Chapter 24 Secret Revealed

  The attack happened out of nowhere; I was seeing to the training of our younger warriors. Call it a make session, for all the days that I could not be here to perform my Alpha duties. All the paperwork in my office had gotten so backlogged. My office is going to be my bedroom for the next couple of weeks. Ugh, I am going to be in that damn place for months. Even though being away from the office had to do with my mate. The pack did not know why I went missing for so long. Only my parents knew the actual reason behind my disappearance. I had found my mate, but they do not know the details behind it. That I kept to myself, I want to be the one to break that bastard in his face, then my wolf will be happy.

  “Front and center, everybody,” I called to all the fighters in the pack.

  “Pair up with someone of the opposite sex. Before you even say anything, yes, this is something new. Our females need to train as well. They will end up fighting against men out on the battlefield, so we will spar with each other to toughen our wolves and tone our bodies. One person will fight like a wolf and the other as a human. We won’t be going against only wolves in the fights to come, but we will fight people who are basically human.”

  Before I could even send the members to pair off. We got hit with bombs from every direction. If we had been human, we would be dead right now. Luckily, it just stunned most of us.

  “Jessie, get everyone into position now we are under attack. Do not let them reach the house. The children are there, and so is your Luna.”

  “Yes, Alpha, the fighters are ready for your command sir,”

  “We fight for our future generation to give them a better life and to protect that life.”

  The fight started out brutal; they outnumbered us five to one. But my people fought hard. Blood was everywhere the sound of teeth shredding flesh heard miles away. I saw a rogue trying to sneak behind us to reach the house and went after him. As I charged at him, two more hit me from opposite sides like they were trying to pin me. They say we are the most powerful pack in the world, so how the hell were they able to get the best of us like this?

  A man out of my past walked up and grabbed me by the neck wearing silver gloves, putting my wolf down. I should have known he would come back to bite me in the ass.

  “What do you want, Kenny?”

  “Well, now Alpha who’s the one in power now? You have something I want.”

  “What the hell do I have that you want, anyway? Nothing should be worth so much. That you would attack the very pack that your mate lives in.”

  “Yes, I know my sister is your mate, and if you continue with this attack, you won’t live to mark her” I sneered at him. I can’t believe my sister is mated to this asshole. Someone who knowingly and willingly attacks the same pack where his mate lives.

  The effect of the silver wore off as I caught the scent of my mate, damn it. She cannot stay out of trouble to save her life. But that is what I love about her: she sticks by her man and her pack.

  “Big talk coming from the Alpha with no control right now.”

  “Kenny, you forgot one thing,” I told him as my furious and pissed-off mate came charging at him.

  “You may have me by the neck, but you let yourself open for an ass whooping by my mate.”

  “What are you talking about?” he asked. But before I could answer him. Serena ripped his head off his shoulders and killed the rest of the wolves surrounding me.

  My beast ego puffed up grander than ever when he saw his mate charging headlong at the wolves attacking me. The barrier she put up around the border stopped the rest from coming or leaving. She sent ice storms out, freezing them in place, and gave my men time to kill them.

  Most Alphas, hell, any men would feel emasculated by their mate saving them and fighting for their pack. But for me, I take it as a good thing, a sign that my pack will have two vigorous leaders that will go to bat for them. Yes, we were all taught that women are meek and only known as the breeders for the next ruler. I wanted to put a stop to that vision. Shana is my equal; Besides, she would not have it any other way.

  After the attack stopped, everything went silent. The next thing I heard was my beta yelling for me, “Alpha the Luna passed out,” rushing over to him. I took her from the fighter that was carrying her. Kieran snatched our mate from the arms of another man. Roaring “get the Doctor now” as we ran to the pack hospital.

  It’s a good thing it was in the packhouse basement. We didn’t have far to go.

  “We need a doctor. Where the hell is the doctor at?” He shouted, getting antsier.

  “Alpha I’m right here; Just hand her over, so we can check her out and make sure she is fine,” the doctor told me as he came closer.

  “Doctor the Alpha’s not in control, look at his eyes his beast has taken control” everyone paused this was the first time my beast as ever took control. Usually, he just emits his power to let others know he’s around. But now that they injured our mate and she is lying in their hands, he does not want to let her go.

  “We may need a little help, but who is dumb enough to go up against the Alpha?” the doctor asked.

  “Luna's brother is here. He can talk some sense into him,” someone spoke up from the back of the room.

  “Well, get him here quick. We need his help.” Looking down at my beautiful mate in my arms. My beast said the three words I swore to never mention to anyone. “I love you, mate you’re my heart now and forever. I’m your rock forever.”

  I never thought my beast would love someone. He would never let me tell anyone that. And it pissed quite a few women off. A lot of times, people have called me cold-hearted. But Kieran was just hard to please. No one could get close to him to gain his heart or his trust.

  Shana’s brother Nick came running into the waiting room, “Alpha Idiot, she needs the doctor. Do you seriously want her to come to and beat the shit out of you? Because you want to hold on to her like a Christmas toy. That you don’t want to share with anyone,” he said.

  As he walked over to us and just snatched Shana out of our arms. Anyone else would be dead right now, coming at us the way he did. But he is my mate’s brother, and she
would kill us herself if he did something to him.

  “Here doctor, take her in there and let us know what’s wrong with my sister.”

  The waiting was killing us. I wanted so badly to break in that door. But I could not, do not laugh at me, it’s not my fault. I have 5 warriors sitting on me. Plus, my mate’s very own brother. Ready to stick me with a needle filled with wolfsbane to keep my beast from wrecking the place.

  “Nick, will you get the hell off of me right now; this isn’t right. I need to be in there with her.”

  “Kieran, shut up the fuck up. You will see her when the doctor’s finished with his examination. Fucker you, better be lucky you’re her brother because right now I want to pop your head like a damn zit,” I screamed at him.

  “Alpha,” the doctor called as he came out of the room. Everyone jumped up off me so I could stand and talk to the doctor.

  “The Luna is fine. And just worn out because her powers drained her. With her condition, she shouldn’t be using so much of her power as she did.”

  “Wait, what do you mean, doctor?” Kieran asked him. “Before I say this, give the Alpha back control Kieran, he needs to hear this too.”

  My beast finally gave me partial control, that way, we both could be told about our mate’s current condition.

  Chapter 25-New Edition

  “Doctor, you were saying something about our mate’s condition.”

  “Yes, Alpha, your mate is pregnant.” My beast was on cloud nine when he found out our mate was pregnant with our child. Damn, I’m going to be a dad.

  I looked at Nick and he was smiling at me too, “well, Jay, it looks like you stuck with me for life. Now that my sister is carrying a part of you. Just think of all the things I can teach it. And I’m going to be at your house all day long. You hurt my sister and her child. I’ll shave you, like the dog you are, my mate’s brother told me.”

  “Great,” my beast said.

  Well, we got to take the good with the bad, Nick is not that bad.” .

  “Dude, he threatened to shave us. Who the hell does that to a family member? Jay, what people did you bind me to?”

  “Kieran, you marked her first dummy. Just shut up so we can go see how our mate is doing.”

  Waking up in a room bathed in silver moonlight, I saw my mate sleeping on the chair by my bed and my brother sitting on the floor by the door. I swear the way these two are stupid, but I love them just the same. My dry throat had me clearing my throat in need of water, hearing me stir, my mate woke up.

  “Shana, baby, you’re awake.”

  I nodded my head and asked for the water beside my bed. After the first sip, I noticed how Jay kept watching me.

  “What did I do this time?” I asked him.

  “Besides joining in the attack and getting hurt?” he asked, rolling his eyes at me.

  “You also kept a secret from me, an amazing secret. My dear, and we hate secrets,” he said.

  “Uh Oh, hey. It’s not a secret, to be honest. I planned on telling you during Christmas. it’s not my fault you found out earlier than I had planned.”

  “Now, my dear. Some changes are coming into play for you,” Jay said. While he moved over to me, I peered up to see him smile down at me.

  “And what do these plans contain?” I asked. Already knowing I will not be following half of them.

  “My dear, I will confine you to my bed in my house. Until you have our child. No going back to your grandfathers, I already talked to your grandparents, and they have agreed. They will come to visit you once you are better. No going off by yourself anymore, and you will have your own guard detail every day. They’ll only be off of duty when you are with me.”

  “Well, damn so much for going to strip clubs.”

  “Shana, I’m not joking with you. You’re not allowed out of my sight. Do you understand?”

  “Yes, oh wise one,” I laughed.

  When is his dumbass going to realize women have been having babies since the dawn of time? I can understand the guard detail. But to make me stay put by his side, He got life screwed up.

  “I’ll come and go as I please, and there isn't shit you can do about it, I told him.”

  “Try me, Shana, and I’ll take a page from your own book and cuff your ass to my bed and feed you myself.” He growled at me.

  Well, damn. Maybe I should have kept some of my demented ideas to myself. Then Jay would not have threatened me with my own ideas for use on him. Thankfully, though, I didn’t have to come up with some grand idea. To tell him about the baby we had created together.

  “On an unrelated topic, why the hell is my brother sitting on the floor while you have a chair to sit on?” I yelled at my mate. Looking at the floor, my mate scratched the back of his neck.

  “Yeah, about that, he said something which pissed us off. Instead of hitting him, we told him to sit on the floor.”

  Breathing softly, I pinched the bridge of my nose and counted to ten. “You two are beyond stupid just because you get pissed at someone, Jay you, can’t make him sit on the floor like a dog in time out,” I told him.

  As I shook my head, I can already tell these next 6 months will be hard on me with these two nitwits always at each other. Yes, they are friends, but I can only take so much of them together.

  “Shana don’t take my fun away. We’re not even married yet, and you’re already telling me how to behave.”

  “Nick, go find the doctor so we can get her checked out and put in bed, where she will stay from now on.”

  “If you’re going to keep me stuck in bed all the time, does that mean you will be at my beck and call? To do everything I request.”

  “Knowing how he really can’t say no to anything,” I ask him. We need to see how fast and far I can push my mate. Yes, I may have a death wish, but, hey, I love to rile my handsome mate up.

  I mean, come on, babe. Just think of all the fun we can have while you have me cuffed to that bed of yours. You could tell I was getting to him. That he wanted me as I wanted him.

  “Shana, you better watch. What you say to me right now, or your brother’s going to walk in the door and find your legs thrown up in the air with me between them. He growled at me as my face turned a deep shade of red. Well, I stepped into that one, didn’t I?”

  I hope we can raise this baby properly between the two of us. Look at who the baby’s relatives are. We are all screwed up in the head.

  Chapter 26 It’s That Time of Year Again

  After the doctors had released Shana, we all went back to my house. The first to come out checking on her was my little brother and sister. Those two have taken quite a shine to Shana. I am hesitant to tell them about our big news. My mom has been pushing the pregnancy and baby fever on all her adult children.

  River Jay's baby brother rushed over to me and screamed, “Shana, Shana, are you feeling better? What did the doctor say?” as his young arms wrapped around my leg.

  Bending down to his height. I smiled, “Hey little man, I’m fine. No worries, that’s why he let me come home to you guys.”

  Jay held out his hand for me to grab and pulled me to my feet, I opened the front door, and we made our way to the kitchen. What? A fat girl gotta eat too. I went over to the cupboards and pulled out every pot and pan; That Jay’s mother owned. Going to the fridge, I grabbed all the fixings that I had bought on our last shopping trip. “Jay” I groaned, “get in here and help me,” as I stretched on tiptoes trying to reach the freezer. Why did the goddess have to invent short people? I can never get what I am after without getting help.

  The creaking door opened to reveal the slut from the other day. She snarled, “what are you doing here? Does Jay know you are in his kitchen snooping through his cupboards like the nosy FBI?”

  “Back your ass up, I don’t need his permission to be in here, and I damn sure don’t need you in here. Now get out of here before you poison the air in here. I have dinner to prepare and do not want your breath to contaminate it.”

sp; Becky, the pack slut stepped up to me, raised her hand slapped me in the face. By the time she had realized what was going to happen to her. I grabbed Becky by the hair and opened the door of the fridge. I slammed her head in it.

  The loud racket of the door being slammed, and her screaming drew my brother and an angry Jay. Confused, they asked, “Shana, what are you doing?” As my brother grabbed me from behind, “Stop before you break her neck,” they said, pulling me from her.

  “Jay, get off me. She should never have put her hands on me, to begin with. Whenever it comes to protecting me and mine, I’ll give her a beating anytime she wishes. This is Christmas time. Jay, a time of rejoicing and being with family. Not being worried about some fast-ass slut who thinks she is your wife.”

  With clenched fists, chest rising, shaking from anger, he shouted at “Becky: You really put your hands on my girlfriend and expect me to save you from her wrath? What do you think I am Captain, Save A Whore? If it weren’t for Christmas and Shana being big on holiday family, even you would be out on your ass tonight.”

  Mind linking Joey Jay’s third in command, better known as Gamma “Joey, how many people can you spare to help with the party setup?”

  “About 3 people but, that’s it, the rest are at the training field,” Joey called as he walked into the office with 3 men behind him.

  “Ok, boys, follow me,” I told them as we went out to the shed to find all the supplies needed to decorate the trees. I had two of the men set up the tents while the rest of us strung up neon blue and silver lights in the trees. Looking at the magical scene that had unfolded in front of us, we stood back and admired our handy work.

  Turning around, I glanced over at Joey, “do you think the kids will enjoy this? Oh, I have another Idea. Why not ask the old Alpha to dress up as Santa Claus for the kids and pass out toys?”

  Heading back to the house, I spotted Jay leaning against one of the newly decorated trees. The sight of him bathed in pale blue, ever-essence cast by the Christmas lights was deviously arousing. I know what his Christmas present will be tonight. I padded over to Jay and braced myself on my arms, leaning in as I captured his lips with mine in a long sensual kiss. “Come on, big boy, time to get ready for tonight’s festivities. Besides, I have to finish wrapping your mom’s gift,” I told Jay as we walked up to his bedroom.
