Jensen clears his throat. She turns to him and asks, “What?”
He smiles and states, “Be careful with that one; is all.”
She nods and says, “Bye, classes to attend. Don’t want to be late. Stacey.”
Stacey comes into the foyer.
She asks, “Ready to go?”
Stacey nods and waves to Jensen
Stacey states, “Let’s hit it. The hybrid today, Yvette wants her car back.”
Ginger sighs and responds, “No worries.”
The day passes in a rush of normal, everyday routine into around three thirty she has a text message. It is from Mark saying everyone is at the house and waiting for them.
Ginger thinks, “How did he get my number?”
She calls Stacey, making a beeline for the car and ditches her last class. No Chemistry today, she sighs. Twelve minutes later Stacey is getting into the car, and Ginger floors it to get back home in Westchester. Stacey was not happy to miss the rest of her Physical Therapy class.
Inside was everyone in jeans and t-shirts looking anxious to get this over with? Ginger’s eyes couldn’t help but roam over to Mark’s fine physique. His solid body to those long legs and his bulging biceps with his arms crossed. The image was mouth watering.
His beautiful blue eyes captured hers’. The air left her lungs and begged to be disrupted by his smoldering passionate kisses.
She thinks, “Oh shit. I need to stop.”
Looking back around the room, a grinning Leo was waving at her. Ginger gasps and quickly waves before she makes a bigger fool of herself. Sighing and paying attention to the meeting about to begin.
Chapter Nine:
Cole opened the portal to a tall industrial building in downtown Los Angeles. Malcolm was tracking him there and he wasn’t alone, Abe was tied up on the west corner on the fifty seven floor. Guards were surrounding the building.
Mark, Lucy, Ginger, Jordan, Kara, Stacey, and Guadalupe were to save Abe and take out Feltus Witchburn. Aaron was leading everybody on one end and Natalie on the other at ground level to distract the Gorjedein demons.
Jensen was to stay near Penny incase the backup spell to transport him to another country was the worst case scenario. Everything was up in the air at the moment, as portals were open and everyone went in a different direction.
Ginger felt confident, but wish that Spider or Hannah had made an appearance. She hoped she wouldn’t need them, plus both had hinted at trusting herself and not in them.
She put on a brave face and jumped into the portal. Stepping out of the portal to an empty office floor the size of a dance studio. Thankfully there were five people she trusted unsure about Mark at this point.
Lucy asks, “Is this the right floor?”
Guadalupe says, “No. We’re on the 56. One more up.”
Mark nods and states, “Let’s move.”
Stacey responds, “Wait, split into three groups. There is four ways up. We should cover them all.”
Ginger says, “Great thinking. Kara and Lucy take the south entrance. Guadalupe and I will take the west and try and get Abe out. Stacey go with Mark to the east wing. Leaving Jordan in the north.”
Mark asks, “Is that wise?”
The smugness was gone, so Ginger stopped herself from lashing out at him. She takes a second to consider other options.
Jordan states, “It’s fine. Just stick to the plan and besides I can handle Feltus if he attacks.”
Lupio states, “You hope.”
Jordan glares at him.
Lupio answers, “I’m just saying.”
Ginger nods and states, “Everyone go!”
The group splits up and she went with Guadalupe to get Abe out of here.
Chapter Ten:
The elevator ride up one floor was an agonizing two minutes; probably everyone felt the same way. She blocked off all the thoughts and feelings to focus. Stick to the plan and everything will be okay, she hoped.
Once the elevator doors opened, empty floor and somehow Ginger knew things were about to take a turn for the worse. They walked down the hall and there at the end was a red door, meant for them to open.
Lupio says, “Let me.”
Ginger states, “You sure?”
Lupio answers, “I’m the guy.”
Ginger smacks his shoulder and responds, “Whatever. Loss an arm to prove a gay or not, you’re mucho. Go for it.”
He grins which helps ease her worry and replies, “Will do. Take a step back.”
She does, he swings the door inward and a man is chained to the wall.
Ginger thinks, “This is too simple. This is a trap.”
She glances over at Guadalupe and he looks like he agrees. She moves pass him inside towards the man and uses her shadow abilities to axe the chains. Abe falls into Guadalupe’s arms, who she hadn’t notice was standing besides her. A new spotlight shines on a throne where Gretchen is sitting besides a blonde woman.
From her thoughts, Ginger knew she was a fairy-hunzod demon hybrid. Her name was Elani Gale Lexington, her sister-in-law. She is married to Gretchen’s twin brother Hunter.
She thinks, “Twin indigo siblings, oh no.”
Ginger knew that Feltus approached them to help him, or if refuse to die. He was forcing them, as she saw Gretchen take Elani’s hand. Elani began to cackle as the room shifted.
Magic and enhanced thanks to the indigo’s abilities.
Chapter Eleven:
Ginger opened her eyes and was in a Greek temple. She tried to use her mind to scan the immediate location, but her powers failed.
She wonders, “What just happened? Where am I? Where are Abe and Lupio?”
Elani laughs and chants in her mind, “We’re playing a game. You’re in the past and now can you survive without your powers?”
The laughing faded and Ginger had no idea what to do next. Find the others was the most logical question, but where to start?
Ginger left the temple of Athena and walked to the obvious location. The oracle of Delphi would be able to help her. At least she hoped so. If she was a fake, not only would Ginger be pissed but abandoned in the past.
She spent the next six hours walking across Athens to get to the temple. Once at the doors, she waited in line to speak to the oracle. The oracle once face to face with her was Kara. Kambria Gwendolyn Townsend was the Oracle of Delphi in a past life. How awesome!
Kara didn’t recognize Ginger. Once her hand made contact with Kara’s to try and shake some sense into her. Kara snapped back to herself.
Kara gasps and says, “Feltus has Lucy in her arms when I suddenly wake up here.”
Ginger groans and states, “We need to hurry and escape this Looney house. Do you have your powers?”
She tries her powers. Nothing, Kara shook her head and closes her eyes to try and focus her mind. Seconds tick by when finally she stares at Ginger in shock.
Ginger asks, “What is it? What did you see?”
Kara says, “Not certain, but we need to go to Egypt.”
Ginger states, “Why?”
Kara answers, “I don’t know. All I saw was a pyramid and a queen.”
Ginger asks, “Which one?”
Kara responds, “Not sure. We better hurry.”
Chapter Twelve:
The next six days it took a lot of bargaining but they finally got to Thebes, Egypt. At the palace was Queen Cleopathra herself.
Kara squirms, “We have to meet her.”
Ginger rolls her eyes and says, “We don’t have time.”
Kara brushes her shoulder and mumbles, “Trust me. This is important.”
So they had to devise a plan to sneak into the palace. Inside was Queen Cleopathra, but when Ginger looked at her. All she saw was Stacey. Ginger touched her immediately and it was like the lights caught on. It was as if recognition hit.
Stacey asks, “Where are we?”
Ginger states, “No time to explain Stacey. Kara; where to next?”
Kara shrugs
and closes her eyes. Repeating the process and finally says, “I see nothing.”
Ginger asks, “Is that it?”
Kara yells, “How the hell am I suppose to know?”
The woman walks in, she is the priestess to the Queen but it is Lucy. Ginger ran over and touched her and the priestess transformed back to Lucy. She hugged Ginger and that is when it happened.
She felt powerful, a new kind of power. Invincibility and entitlement! Those were powerful feelings and ones that would corrupt. These were what Feltus must felt ad what lead to all the countless lives being taken.
Kara states, “You did it.”
Stacey asks, “What did she do?”
Lucy smiles and responds, “Found her past to make way for her future.”
Stacey asks, “Who are you?”
Ginger answers, “The Goddess of Hunt and Nature. Artemis.”
Lucy replies, “Wow.”
Stacey mumbles, “Ah, amazing.”
Ginger states, “Time to go home.”
Ginger takes all their hands in her arms and bam; they are back in their own time. Elani shrieks and screams.
Elani growls, “That isn’t possible.”
Lupio says, “Your lose.”
Elani looks at Gretchen and states “Do something.”
Gretchen asks, “Like what? You can’t change the rules. She won. I am out.”
Ginger grins when a cry is heard, and she felt a sharp pain in her chest.
She says, “Lucy.”
Chapter Thirteen:
Lucy is dead. No, this can’t be happening. How had this happened? He killed her, that monster. Without thinking, she ran into the hall and turned into a shadow into she laided besides Lucy’s lifeless body.
She stares up to see Jordan and Mark fighting Feltus, and Stacey comes running into the empty room. Mark punches Feltus with shockwaves and Jordan is using the same by copying Mark’s powers. The next thing Stacey is pushing all her mind to knock out Feltus.
Feltus pushes them all back with a windblast, before grabbing a unconscious Kara and taking her powers.
Stacey yells, “No. Stop him.”
Jordan says, “Stay back.”
Feltus threw a psychic whip around Jordan’s throat, as his abilities began to wane.
Ginger yells, “We have to stop him.”
She links her hands with Mark and Stacey. Ginger uses her mind telling Penny to cast the other spell she discussed.
Words were heard in the distance, as Cole opened the portal. Ginger looked up to see Penny standing besides Jensen and Jurnee. The spell hit Feltus in the chest, disconnecting the whip from Jordan before falls to the floor and passes out.
The energy that makes indigo’s special swirls around Stacy and her eyes glow yellow and purple. Stacey grins and let’s go of Ginger’s hand. Mark steps back, a volunteer detachment.
Stacey asks Feltus, “You ready?”
Feltus snarls, “For?”
Stacey answers, “Death.”
Stacey turns to Mark and Stacey indicating to get Kara, Lucy’s body, and Jordan out of the way. Ginger uses her mind and telekinesis to move Lucy’s body behind her. Mark through an unconscious Kara and Jordan over his shoulders like a fireman.
Ginger mumbles, “Holy cow fuck. What just happened?”
Mark states, “A new beginning.”
Stacey declares, “Transformation. Indigos don’t die; we just pass along our abilities. Mine grew stronger from Jordan’s essence. Mark you stopped Feltus from getting Lucy’s so now it went to Guadalupe. He is one of us now, but sadly Abe and Kara are powerless. Their abilities faded with him.”
Chapter Fourteen:
That night they had a funeral for Lucy Atlantis Ramirez. Everyone attended, but Caleb was the most distraught. He never thought what life would be like without her. Ginger felt like a jerk for reading his thoughts, but had to make sure he wasn’t considering suicide.
Once at the palace after the funeral, everyone was eating and drinking. Ginger just wanted to be alone, so made her way to the old office of Lucy’s. In there was Mark, but he wanted to be alone due to the crying.
Ginger asked, “What are you doing in here?”
Mark says, “Reliving my shitty past. And you?”
Ginger answers, “Happy that Elani is in jail, and that Gretchen is free. She’s somewhere around here turning a new leaf. Believe it or not, I think we’re actually friends now. I still have no clue what happened to her brother. I felt him when Feltus died, he was angry. He has plans of his own and they aren’t good. But before I could do anything about it, he just vanished without a trace.”
Mark snorts, wipes his tears away. He gets up and all 6’3 of man and muscle is before her. She looks into his sad grayish blue eyes when his lips captured hers’. Once again Ginger was breathless and begging for more. She pushed back with as much force, deeping the kiss and adding friction by jumping in his arms.
He swung her around and wham. Her back hit the leather cushions of the couch; his body was hunched over hers’. His lips were like liquid fire, pressing her a little bite further for more and more. She pulled back to see him panting and all that desire in his stare.
Ginger states, “I don’t want to see you again.”
Mark asks, “Because of this? We fight and kiss. We have great chemistry. You want me as much as I want you.”
Ginger sighs and replies, “I ain’t denying that. Just need time and space, a part of me blames you for Lucy’s death and I don’t know why.”
She regretted her words. The look on his face, it was like she was breaking his heart.
Ginger thinks, “Am I making a huge mistake? Don’t make rash decision after the lost of a loved one.”
Mark states, “Fine.”
He hops off her and heads to the door. His heand closes the knob, but before he can turn it.
Ginger yells out, “Wait. I’m sorry. I’m just hurt. Forgive me.”
Mark turns to stare at her over his shoulders and says, “Always sweetheart.”
She felt his pain and knew his thoughts. He thought she deserved better, and he’d never be good enough.
Ginger whispers once alone, “I am damaged. Hold me and don’t let me go.”
Alone she stares after him.
Chapter Fifteen:
Two years later.
Ginger is cleaning the counter at Bread Bar in Century City.
A rich deep voice says, “Surprise.”
Startled Ginger turns to see a 5’10 fair skinned man built like a wrestler and a huge grin on his face. His Irish heritage is expressed in his greener then grass eyes and dark curly unruled black hair. Now that Ginger’s dyed brown streaks have faded match his midnight black raven hair.
This man made Ginger’s breathe catch in his throat, and he pulled her in as his lips lingered over hers.” The fire and passion was too much to wait. Greedily she firmly pressed her lips to his, thrusting her tongue inside to explore.
He growls.
She thought, “Oh Luke. How you ignite my soul.”
Ginger pulled back from the lustful kiss. Lucas faraday Catallano is 24 years old.
He smiled and Ginger felt her legs almost give way. He wasn’t model looking handsome, but stunning none the less. Luke was her boyfriend for the past year and two months.
Ginger asked, “What are you doing here?”
Luke grinned and responds, “Surprising you. I got off early.”
Ginger grins and replies, “The benefit of being chief in editor at Trek Publishing at such a delicate age.”
He sucks his teeth and answers, “24 is hardly young. I worked hard for my job.”
Ginger smirks and states, “I know you freakily handsome smart devil. You’re hard working and dedicated, parts of the reasons I love you.”
Luke smiles and pulls her back into a deep meaningful kiss. She swoons and swats him before breaking their kiss.
Ginger says, “Quit it. I’m off in 15 and need to go close my drawer.”r />
Luke asked, “Will you spend the afternoon with me?”
Ginger’s smile fades and states, “Going hiking with Lupio. We need to finalize Stacey’s surprise birthday party.”
Luke pouts. She strokes his arm for good luck.
Ginger replies, “Stop pouting. You’ll see me in a few hours. We have plans tonight, right?”
Luke nods and answers, “I will see you later.”
Ginger responds, “See you growl a lot.”
He smirks and strolls down the avenue. She sighs and gets back to work.
Chapter Sixteen:
Two hours alter and twenty minutes later, Ginger sits down on a rock besides Guadalupe Haas.
Ginger asks, “How’s your mysterious boyfriend?”
Lupio smirks and replies, “Fine.”
