End of the Line

Lots of thanks to many of my best readers like Albert Bowles, Harry & Chris Miller, Celana van Herdeen, Gavin Thompson, Tommy Ginn, Rebecca Mowery, Kathy Estridge, and anyone else whom I might have forgotten. It’s pretty surreal to have “fans” and I’m more appreciative than any of them will ever know. Unless I win the lottery. Then I might have to have a pretty big party. A party where I annoy them to read one of my books.
I’ve got a whole “soundtrack” plotted out for EotL in my head. Though not to everyone’s tastes, it’s a lot of Killswitch Engage, DevilDriver, and Lamb of God. There’s a Daft Punk song in there somewhere too, along with some Mudvayne, and even the old BoC classic “Godzilla.” I love all flavors of music, but my “writing playlist” is very, very limited. If I had to pay royalties like a radio station, KsE and DD alone would be multi-billionaires.
And finally, thank you for reading this book. Even if you hated it. ESPECIALLY if you hated it. You’re a trooper and I owe you a proper book and a beer. If you liked the book… well… you probably live in Colorado / Washington / Oregon / Alaska / D.C.
Haha, I almost forgot. If you’ve ever read “The Forever War” by Joe Haldeman, well, we’re now BFF’s. If somehow you’ve never read it, please, do yourself a favor and grab it (ebook or paperback, up to you). It’s pretty much one of the sacred Science Fiction bibles we author types draw from.
“Hyperion” (an entire series!) by Dan Simmons is truly, truly epic, and is also a heavy influence. “Hyperion” was a huge influence for my book “Diabolus” (melding of man and machine with Catholic overtones) and many others.
Lastly, “Old Man’s War” by John Scalzi is a must-read. I don’t know of any science fiction readers who haven’t read it, but it’s still selling very well, so you might just thank me for turning you on to a new book/series.
So… many thanks to Haldeman, Simmons, Scalzi, and of course guys like Heinlein, Piers Anthony, James Axler (“Deathlands” series, many authors used the pen name), Clarke, and guys like Carl Sagan, Michio Kaku, and Neil deGrasse Tyson for making me and my brain crave science, especially astronomy (aka: space stuff).

Not only are the Dolgoprudninskaya, the second largest Russian organized crime syndicate in the world, searching for Billy and his crew, but the Dolgo's biggest rivals, the Solntsevskaya, have joined forces with them in an attempt to recover the seven million dollars in stolen jewelry, cash, and bearer bonds.
After Alexi Nikolayev Petrovski, head of the Solntsevskaya in Houston, captures Billy's long-time girlfriend, the crew is left with no choice but to meet the Russian mobster on his turf. Billy learns that Petrovski isn't interested in recovering the stolen goods as much as he is in recruiting a new employee...

Off the ice, Connor also moonlights as an enforcer for Costache Ojacarcu, the Bombers’ owner, and head of a discrete Romanian organized crime operation in the Treasure Valley. What started out as running simple errands for extra money to supplement his meager hockey salary has evolved into collection, intimidation, and retribution.
After becoming an unwilling accessory to murder, Connor's life begins to spiral out of control. When he rescues a prostitute from an abusive drug dealer, he begins to dig himself in even deeper, and soon realizes how entrenched he truly is.

*Alive, or Just Breathing:
Devin Fischer lost both of his parents when he was nine.
His controversial mother was taken from him in a freak accident. His father made him an emotional orphan that same day. Devin’s goal is to leave small-town Southern Idaho and the legacy of his mother’s sensational death behind. The only obstacles in his path are the last two years of high school, and the many enemies he’s made with his quick fists and quicker temper.
Melinda Liddy dreams of the day she can escape from the nightmare her life has become.
Her life has become a bitter tug-of-war between the need to escape from her drunken, abusive father, and her inability to leave her mother behind to face the monster’s explosive, unpredictable violence alone. As Melinda struggles to hold on long enough for an academic path, instead of becoming a runaway like her older sister Theresa, she finds a kindred spirit in Devin.
Together, they attempt to navigate the minefield of broken families, high school society, and the chaotic, sometimes confusing emotions that come with falling in love for the first time.

Hallowed Ends:
Hallows' End is our three-day celebration at the end of the harvest season, where we eat, drink, and give praise for all that we have. It is also when my father, Tarver Irondale, Master Blacksmith of Uric, performs his annual Hallowed Forging. It is a ritual carried out since The Fall over a thousand years ago, when the dark sorcerers ruled the continent.
Most Hallowed Forgings are mundane affairs, though the weapon my father creates on these special nights are anything but ordinary. A "Hallowed Weapon" has not been forged in more than three centuries, but each year, he performs the ritual and ends up with what he calls a "Harvest" weapon. Harvest weapons are priceless works of art, yet they are unbreakable, never ne
ed sharpening, and will never rust or corrode. No one remembers what a true Hallowed weapon is, though everyone remembers the upheaval that such a forging precedes.
I, and the rest of the crowd gathered in Torren's central square, believed tonight would be no different. How wrong we were...
