Murder and Malpractice

‘Fraser? Yes and no,’ Cathy said. ‘The police had a few other issues to clear up with him. He’ll take a bit of time to sort himself out, but I’ve told him the door’s open. He said that he had a lot of explaining to do to someone very important. I hope he sorts it out with his girlfriend. He seemed determined to explain everything and start afresh.’
‘Always the best way,’ the old man said. ‘And you, Doc?’
‘Oh, I’m not going anywhere, Bert. I think the practice needs a bit of stability just now, don’t you?’
Turning back, she smiled at him.
‘Bert, you know the petty vandalism? The graffiti on the practice sign next to Dr Hope’s name?’
A slow smile crept across the old man’s face. Cathy couldn’t be sure, but she thought he winked at her. Turning, Bert shuffled away. Cathy knew that the handyman never had got on with Mark after the GP had failed to recognise his wife’s multiple sclerosis. She had only recently discovered that it was Linda who had made the diagnosis. Perhaps the girl was partnership material after all.
