The Magnate's Tempestuous Marriage

Sarah blinked up at him. ‘Heavens, I don’t know what to say.’
‘Just yes will do.’
Sarah shrugged. ‘Okay. Yes.’
‘There’s a travel agency on the ground floor. We’ll pop in there and see what can be arranged, post haste. But first...’ He strode over, opened his office door and put his head out. ‘Good, she’s gone. Now...’
He returned to sweep Sarah into his arms and kiss her as he’d been aching to do. Both of them were breathing heavily by the time his head lifted.
‘No,’ she said when she saw that glint in his eye.
‘Why not? We’re married.’
Sarah had to laugh. ‘What about the travel agency?’
‘It’s not going anywhere. Besides, this won’t take long.’
‘I’m not fond of quickies,’ she told him even as her heartbeat accelerated.
‘You could have fooled me.’

It was a glowing Sarah who sat next to Scott in the travel agency, saying yes to absolutely everything he suggested. Her arm was hooked through his and she simply couldn’t stop smiling. Life was just so good. Not only did Scott love her to death but she was having his baby. Or babies. Going on a second honeymoon together would be the icing on their cake of happiness. It didn’t really matter where they went. She would still enjoy it.
‘So what do you say, darling?’ he asked her for the umpteenth time.
She couldn’t for the life of her remember what his question was about. Still, she trusted him to choose well. After all, she’d already trusted him with her life.
‘Absolutely yes,’ she said. ‘It all sounds wonderful.’
‘Are you quite sure you can be packed by tomorrow?’ Scott asked her after they’d left the travel agency.
‘Tomorrow!’ Sarah exclaimed, gasping and grinding to a halt.
Scott grinned. ‘I knew you weren’t listening properly. But you said yes so it’s a done deal. We fly out for Bangkok at four tomorrow afternoon. Think you can be ready in time?’
Sarah sucked in sharply. ‘I guess I’ll have to be. Oh, Lord, I have no idea what clothes to pack.’
‘Not too much. We’re going on a second honeymoon, remember? Clothes will not be a priority.’
‘Spoken like a man. I will still need something for every possible occasion.’
Scott rolled his eyes. ‘There are shops over there, you know. We can always buy whatever you might forget. Along with that eternity ring I was going to buy you today, but which we now don’t have time for.’
‘We certainly don’t,’ she said. ‘I have to get home and start packing. And I’ll have to go to the hairdresser in the morning. Oh, Lord!’
‘They do have hairdressers over there as well,’ he pointed out with a wry smile.
‘True,’ she agreed, all anxiety leaving her as she lifted sparkling eyes to the man she loved. ‘Gosh. Tomorrow! Oh, I can hardly wait.’
Scott pulled her close. ‘Neither can I, my darling. Neither can I.’

AUTHOR’S NOTE
I WOULD NORMALLY write an epilogue to this story, but this is Book One of a series and I do not want to pre-empt anything that happens in Book Two, which will be Cleo’s story.
I will not, however, leave you in suspense over the baby issue. Sarah is having twins. Not identical. A boy and a girl.

THE PRINCE’S CAPTIVE VIRGIN
“You really are kind of a beast,” Belle said, standing up. Adam caught her wrist, stopped her from leaving.
“And what bothers you most about that? The fact that you would like to reform me, that you would like for your time here to mean something and you are beginning to see that it won’t? Or is it the fact that you don’t want to reform me at all, and that you rather like me this way. Or at least, your body likes me this way.”
“Bodies make stupid decisions all the time. My father wanted my mother, and she was a terrible, unloving person who didn’t even want her own daughter. So, forgive me if I find this argument rather uncompelling. It doesn’t make you a good person, just because I enjoy kissing you. And it doesn’t make this something worth exploring.”
She broke free of him and began to walk away, striding down the hall, back toward her room. He pushed away from the table, letting his chair fall to the floor, not caring enough to right it as he followed after Belle.
He caught up to her, pivoting so that he was in front of her. She took a step backward, then to the side, butting up against the wall. Then, he caged her between his arms, staring down at her. Her blue eyes were glittering, her breasts rising and falling rapidly with each breath.
“This is the only thing worth exploring. Not what could be, but what you have. The fire that burns between you and another person. For all you know, in the days since you’ve been here the entire world has fallen away. And if we were all that was left… Would you not regret missing out on the chance to see how hot we could burn?”
She shook her head. “But the world hasn’t fallen away,” she said, her trembling lips pale now, a complete contrast to the rich color they had been only moments ago. “It’s still there. And whatever happens in here will have consequences out there. I will help you, Adam, but I’m not going to give you my body. I’m not going to destroy that life that I have out there to play games with you in here. You’re a stranger to me, and you’re going to remain a stranger to me. I can pretend. I can give you whatever you need when it comes to making a statement for your country. But beyond that? I can’t.”
Then, she turned and walked away, and this time, he let her go.
