I give him a playful wink.
“Yes, then it’s okay,” he says with a naughty grin. “You want some ice cream? I want ice cream.”
He stands up and I can’t help but admire his body as I always do. He pulls on a pair of white boxer briefs and raises his eyebrows at me.
“Yes, I’d love some ice cream,” I tell him. He grins, leans down and kisses me gently on the lips before turning and walking out of the room. Shamelessly, I watch his sculpted buttocks as he takes each step.
“Babe?” I say softly. He stops at the door and turns to me.
“Yes?”
“I love you,” I tell him. “I know I say it all the time, but I just had to say it again.”
“And I’ll never grow tired of hearing it,” he tells me. “I love you too.”
Some mornings I have to pinch myself to make sure I’m not dreaming when I wake up beside this gorgeous man every single day.
Things are going to change soon. In a few weeks we’ll be married and in a couple of months we’ll be parents. And I can’t wait. I can’t wait to see the face of my child, to watch him as he grows, crawls, walks, talks and everything else. I can’t wait to watch the love of my life become a parent. I can’t wait to see my parents’ faces.
When I think back to a few months ago, when the only thing Coach and I shared were stolen glances here and there before and after practice, I can barely believe where my life is now. If someone had asked me what my dream life would have been, I wouldn’t have known what to tell them. I couldn’t have even pictured this. But here it is. Here I am. Here we are, living a happily ever after I never even knew existed.
How did I get so lucky?
