“No, brother. We prepare. We haven’t seen the last of Damien.”
ONE WEEK LATER
Gemma knotted the belt on her bathrobe, took a deep breath and opened the bathroom door. Glancing left and right, she made sure the hallway was clear before exiting and walking as fast as she could to the bedroom.
It had been a week since she’d been rescued from a crazy madman … ironically by another crazy madman. The one whose bedroom she had been sleeping in since he’d brought her home from the living hell she had experienced for three long days.
She pushed open the bedroom door and stepped inside. Speaking of madmen, the one who had rescued her was standing in front of the dresser in the bedroom. He straightened when she entered, a t-shirt in one hand.
“I was hoping you’d come back before I left,” he said, and Gemma sighed. Dark brown eyes flared gold at the sound, and one side of his mouth kicked up into a grin. “Aww, don’t be like that, Starshine. I know you love our daily chats.”
“I don’t know where you got that idea.” She pushed past him and sat on the bed. “Let me make this conversation short. No, Damien didn’t tell me anything. No, there’s nothing I want to share with you about what he did while I was a prisoner No, I don’t know what happened with Scarlet. And no, I never saw Sam once the entire time I was there.”
Deacon folded his arms across his chest and stared at her. “Your reaction isn’t natural. You know that, don’t you?”
“You’re not natural,” she retorted.
Childish, Starshine, childish,” he admonished.
“Stop calling me that.”
“You need to talk about what happened,” he continued. “It’s not good for you to keep it locked up like this.”
“You have many kidnap cases to compare it to?” She tucked her feet beneath her and leaned back against the pillows.
“No, but I have eyes. And I saw you, remember?”
She flinched but held her unconcerned expression in place. “You saw what you wanted to see, with your snarly face and glowing eyes. You burst inside that place looking for a fight, and you’re still looking for one.”
“You can bet your fucking ass I am. Do you want to talk about how I found you?”
“No.”
“Locked in a cage with a water bowl on the floor.”
“I said I don’t want to talk about it.”
“A collar around your neck, with a leash attached to the wall.”
“Stop it!”
“Naked, bruised, filthy, covered in who the fuck knows what. With a name-tag on the collar announcing your role to all who looked. Do you remember what it said?”
“Fuck you, Deacon.” She rolled onto her stomach and presented him with her back.
“Pretty sure that wasn’t what it said,” he replied. “Or was that a wish?” He rested a knee on the end of the bed and smoothed a hand over her ankle. “A request, possibly?” His other hand curled around the opposite ankle. “Or maybe it was a demand?” He yanked, dragging her down the bed until she was hanging off the edge. “I don’t respond well to demands.”
Gemma shrieked, tried to twist onto her back, but Deacon leaned forward, pinning her to the mattress with his body, hands either side of her head.
“Get off me,” she kicked back with one leg, and felt him laugh.
“You’re so violent.” His lips found the curve of her neck. “If you want me to make you feel good, you need to be nicer to me.”
“I don’t want you to make me feel good,” Gemma snapped, reaching back with one hand to tangle her fingers in his hair and drag him closer.
“What do you want from me then?” He allowed her to pull his head down and her teeth sank into his bottom lip.
“I want you to make me forget.”
The Midnight Pack series follows the story of three wolf shifter brothers. The first book focuses on Shaun, the second Deacon, and the third about Cormac (the Pack’s primary Alpha).
Midnight Touch
Trouble always finds Shaun Jacobs…
So, really, the sizzling hot alpha male shouldn’t have been surprised when a move to a new town and a fresh start doesn’t go according to plan - especially when Shaun’s wolf lays claim to the beauty he unexpectedly finds on his property.
Passion soars, but Cassie comes with her own brand of trouble in the form of an ex who can't take no for an answer.
To make matters worse, there’s a hunter on Shaun’s tail. One who will stop at nothing to take down the Midnight pack once and for all. The stakes are high but Shaun won't be going down without a fight.
Midnight Temptation
Lead me not into temptation…
Easier said than done when your name is Deacon Jacobs and temptation is your drug of choice.
The woman with a broken soul shouldn’t even have registered on his radar, but a wolf wants what a wolf wants.
Sparks fly between the feisty female and the arrogant wolf, but Gemma got caught in the Midnight Pack’s crossfire once before, and now all she wants is to forget. A familiar enemy re-surfaces but all is not as it seems and the pack closes ranks to face what could be their toughest challenge yet.
The risks are daunting but Deacon will gamble everything, including his life, to ensure Gemma’s safety.
