Alien Magnetism (The Shadow Zone Brotherhood Book 6)

“Three?” Hazard asks.
When I look up at him, I have to shake my head, “The eggs and the gas?”
“The guy at the club…”
Shivering, I let him pull me closer to him as he switches the TV off.
“Come on.” He says it as though he wants me to follow, but picks me up, and carries me through the house, to my room.
These are the meager trappings of my old life. But there’s nothing meager about my life now.
“We should pack up and go.” The sooner we’re gone….
“We should.”
But Hazard’s voice is odd and when I look at him, he’s watching me, pensively. “What’s wrong?”
“How many good memories do you have in this room?”
I think through my time here. “A few.”
“More or less than five?”
“Less.”
Nodding, he pulls his coat off and tosses it onto the chair. “I don’t plan on letting you leave this room until we’ve given you at least one more.”
And then, we'll let all of this fade to a distant memory.
