  Chapter 7

No one bothered me after the angels left, and I was glad. Right now, I was trying very hard not to explode because that was what my body wanted to do. I felt hot and all of my emotions - all of them dark - swirled inside of me, making any rational thought impossible. I closed my eyes. Breathing in, I concentrated on controlling my anger.

Why was this happening to me?

When my breath evened out, I prayed. It was the only thing I had left, and it was something I hadn’t done in a while.

I talked to God, and I begged Him for justice... because I didn’t belong here anymore. It was all a big mistake. Paige was alive, and I shouldn’t be punished for killing someone who was still alive. That was not how the rules worked.

Justice. That became my plea. Because what else did I have, really? My soul was tainted with darkness. It was one of the reasons why Luke left me.

Was that also why Kyrie turned away from me? I wouldn't know, because she left me here without an explanation. She didn't even bother telling me who she really was. My best friend, and she left me behind. What a disappointment she turned out to be.

I sat on top of the mountain and prayed. With my eyes closed, I blocked out all of my anger and hate, and I concentrated on the light inside of my heart. It was still somewhere in there, and I was desperate to find it.

Days passed in prayer, then, weeks. Months later, or maybe even years, I'm not quite sure, but something finally happened.

My wings tingled, and I felt a calm and loving warmth touch my soul. Even before I looked at my wings, I already knew that they had turned white.

  Because I was forgiven.

I was born an angel, and now, I am an angel once again. This was my gift for spending all of this time in prayer. God finally found me, he forgave me, and the light within me glowed.

Opening my eyes, I stood up. Three demons were staring at me with disbelief. They were shocked at my transformation. Well, so am I.

Glancing back at my very white wings, I smiled. Moments later, a door opened up for me, casting rays of sunshine where I stood. Giggling, I flared my wings behind me as I soaked in the heat of the light. Then, I walked through the door slowly and made my way back to Earth.

  I was free.
