He stills his motions, still hard as steel, and kisses my mouth. My hair. My pussy pulses around his cock. “You come too,” I urge, and that’s all it takes. He moves again, pumps me, and as his motions grow more frantic, I squeeze all my muscles to clench down on his cock, hoping it will feel even better for him.

It must have worked, because he growls and shouts, and then stiffens, calling my name. The look on his face, tortured bliss, makes me smile in pride and delight. Because I did that. I made him feel that way.

  Chapter Twenty-Seven

  Talia

Later, lying together, our sweat and breath mingling, he kisses me. “How’re you doing?” His gaze, open and enigmatic, makes me catch my breath. Again. I’ve fallen so hard for this man. Not just physically, but emotionally.

  “I’m good.”

“How’s your ass?” He touches my side, and I roll over. Let him touch. “A little pink. Sore?”

I shake my head. “Not anymore.”

“Good.” He kisses me again. “God, you’re so hot, Talia.” But his voice sounds reverent, like he’s talking about more than sex. He takes my hand, laces our fingers together. “I really like you.”

“Well, I really like you, too.” I smile up into his face.

“Good.” He squeezes my hand. “I’m glad we agree.”

“It’s good to agree on things. Much better than being on opposite sides.” I like the feel of his strong hands. “Doesn’t mean it’s not still complicated, though.”

“Yeah.” He sighs. “Work is going to get intense for me, now. Even more than before.”

“I believe it. You’ll get the next bid in town, but now you have Michael and Art extra angry.”

“Art may have cooled off some. But it’s still shaky with him.” He frowns.

“Do you plan to stay on as CEO?” I run my hand up his arm.

“I need to, at least for a while.” His voice is low. “I like the idea of taking the company in a new direction. Trying to be better to the employees than it was in the past. But…”

“But?” I look up at him.

“It’s also more stressful, more intricate, than I’d bargained for. And it means I have far less time to focus on my own individual projects. Like the one I did for Bae. When I took over as interim CEO, I had no idea how insane this would get.”

“But you don’t want to hand it over to Art.”

“No.” He shakes his head. “And not to any of the good old boy cronies, either. But if I can convince the board to do some external interviews, I think we can bring on a top notch person who can inject new ideas, good ones, into the company. Someone decent. Ethical. Smart, of course.” He laughs.

“So, a clone of you, is what you’re saying.” I snort and roll my eyes.

He laughs. “How about you? You want a new career?”

I laugh. “No. I have my hands full as it is. I’m glad Janice is understanding and empathetic. And I like writing, you know? I want to keep doing that. Get better. Work my way up.” We both know I couldn’t be CEO of a construction company, but it’s sweet that he teases me in a complimentary way.

“DeShaun will do a good job if he’s elected for Senate.” Dane stretches and I feel his muscles move. “I love the way you brought him in to talk with the mayor like that. Huge move. Great for him as well as for us.”

“He has a good chance, I think. Although we can’t underestimate Michael. God knows what support he’ll dig up.” I scowl. “I really hate that man.”

“I feel sorry for him.” Dane pulls me tighter. “He’s incapable of real human emotion. Too wrapped up in his own greed.” He pauses. “But yes, he’s a threat. Both of us need to keep an eye out, make sure he’s not up to anything regarding us.”

“Does having enemies make us important?” I’m sort of joking, but I shudder, and he pulls me closer.

“In our case? Means we did something important to us, and accepted the consequences. And I’d do it again.”

“Me too.” I press my head against his chest. Feel his heart beat. “Because it got us here. And we’re both satisfied with ourselves... right?”

“Well, I feel pretty satisfied,” he drawls, pressing his hips to me. “You don’t disappoint, love.”

  I giggle. “Neither do you.”

He runs a hand over my arm. “Did you like what we did? Not too intense for you?”

“I would have said so if it was. I loved it.”

“The belt, ties, all of it?”

“Yeah.” I twist to look up at him. “Why?”

“Because I loved it myself, and I want to make sure we’re on the same page. In bed.” He touches my cheek. “It’s important to me that you feel good about what we do. That you want more.”

“I like your dominance. In bed.” I smile. “I do want more.”

“Well, I like being dominant. In bed. But there are times when I like it soft and gentle, too.” He kisses me, a light touch, on the lips.

“A time and place for everything.” I bite his neck, just a small nip. “I like a man who can mix it up.”

“So that sounds like we can make a decision.” He cups my chin.

I look back up at his face. “It does?”

He smiles. “I think we need to be together. Just us.”

“I think we do, too.” My answer is immediate and pure. I don’t have any more reservations. The lies he told, and mine, are behind us. Our anger and irritation seems so far distant that it might have been a hundred years ago.

All that exists now is this new trust. The fact that we worked together to fix the situation with his corporation and the cranes and… me. That we helped each other. Cared about each other enough to look past the shit and find the joy.

We said we liked each other. I know it’s blooming into more, but I’m content not to rush. To take these emotions as they come. Enjoy the ride because, with this man, it’s going to be fantastic.

“So I guess I can call you my girlfriend.”

  “I guess you can.”

“And you can call me Master.” He grins.

I widen my eyes and slap his arm, playful. “If you’re lucky, in bed.”

“Of course. People in public would get too excited. Don’t want to work them up too much.”

  “Whatever.” I roll my eyes.

“If you’re bad, you know what happens.” He gives me a dirty, wicked smile.

“I know what I hope might happen,” I correct. “But I suppose you should fill in the details.” I grab his hips. “I do need to be filled in, from time to time.” I press my body to his. “Get it?”

“Oh, baby, you’re the one who’s about to get it,” he growls, hardening immediately. Grabbing me. His smile slays me.

“I want to get it. Give it to me.” I lick my lip.

  “Your wish is my command.”

And as he proceeds to make my dreams come true, all I know is that this is the start of a beautiful new future. One that holds happiness and joy, and a man I love.
