  Oh, my God.

  “Gar, you can’t be serious.”

“I am dead serious.” He walks around me to the foot of the bed and sits. “Pull your pants down and get over here.”

A mix of mortification and anger heats my cheeks. I put my backside as far from him as I can get it and cover it with my hands. “Gar, I am one hundred percent not letting you spank me.”

Except there’s a strange ache licking at my sex, and not all the heat humming across my skin is from embarrassment or anger. Stranger still is the deeply embedded feeling that I need this. We need this.

“Yes, you one hundred percent are. You asked how you can make this right. This is how.”

Before I can ask what he means, he grabs my wrist and in the next instant I’m exactly as he promised the other night, across his knees, pressed into his thighs. I squeal, and try to get up, but he puts his arm across my lower back, holding me still.

  “I can’t believe this!” I squeak, indignant.

“Believe it.” He yanks my pants down from my ass, along with my panties.

  “This is crazy, Gar!”

“No. The crazy part is how good this will feel. For both of us.” His voice is a hungry growl, and I feel his cock press into my stomach, a rod of steel. He runs his palm over my ass cheeks. They grow hot at his touch. Anticipation eats its way through me while my sex inexplicably slicks.

“Oh my God, I hate you right now!” Why do I sound more horny than pissed off?

“You have no idea how right you are. Or how long I’ve been waiting for you to give me a reason to turn this perfect ass red.” His voice makes me even wetter.

Again, his palm roams over my ass cheeks. Heating them even more and driving my blood temperature through the roof.

The first crack of his palm across my ass cheek rings out like a firecracker. The sting left behind makes me yelp. The second slap on my other cheek carries through the room. I just know the whole damn club can hear those cracks, and the scream I let out.

“Ow, Gar, you bastard! I think I might strangle you!”

He grunts a laugh and there’s another hard slap on the first cheek. The flash of pain makes my eyes water. Need also licks at my clit, making my pussy ache until I’m squirming into him.

“Go ahead and try. You do, and I’ll blister your ass all over again.”

  Another cracking slap.

  I whimper.

“Why are you being spanked, Sandra?”

“Because you’re an asshole,” I whine.

Crack. His fist pulls my head up by my hair. Not brutal, but hard enough to add to the pain—and the pleasure. “Tell me why I’m doing this?”

He’s rubbing my ass cheeks now, cooling the sting and heightening my senses until I’m sure I’ll go mad. Making me want him so badly I’m rutting against his thigh.

He shifts position so that I can’t grind on him. I don’t realize I haven’t replied until he speaks again. “Why, Sandra?”

Tears leak out of my eyes, but it’s not because of the pain. It’s because I didn’t trust him, because I ran out and endangered myself. There’s a part of me that finds what he’s doing cathartic.

“Because I disobeyed you,” I say in a small voice.

  “There you go.”

  Crack. Crack, crack.

A handful more slaps rain down. He alternates between massaging my ass cheeks and slapping them hard, intensifying the pain and my arousal all at once. I sob. I sob because I almost lost him, because I did something so desperate and foolish. Because I didn’t think about my actions and what could have happened to me. I sob because he should be sending me on my way, but instead, he’d giving me absolution. And because I feel utterly humiliated and I hate him for it.

Two more hard slaps, and then Gar’s hand stops bringing down the hellfire on my ass. An instant later, he’s laid me across the bed on my stomach.

“Gar, what are you… Oh, God.”

He’s pulled my hips up, knelt between my legs, and then I hear his belt buckle clink, the sound of his zipper going down. My heart hammers, need bolting through me so intense it makes my head swim.

I should be mad at him, but my whole body is in flames, and I know he’s the only one who can douse the fire that rages between us.

“I’m so goddamned hard right now, if I don’t fuck you right this minute, I’ll explode.” He shoves my legs wider.

I’m right there with him, so much that I’m pushing back against him, gripping the pillow in front of me, unable to do anything but let him take me.

His gargantuan cock slides through my slick folds. I whimper and push my hips back toward him. A growl rips out of him, and he thrusts into me so deep that my toes curl. I groan. So does he, a deep guttural sound in his throat.

Gar grunts and slams in and out of me so hard and fast it sends my world spinning. I cry out, greedy hot need tearing through me from head to toe.

“Fuck, yeah. So fucking good.” His huge hands grip my shoulders, pinning me in place, his hips smacking mine, loud, dirty, and sexy as hell.

I let out a high keening sound. “Oh, shit! Shitshitshit!”

He hums approval in his throat and wraps my hair around his fist, yanking my head back hard enough that I cry out. He slaps my thigh, squeezing it, making me hotter. “Oh, fuck, yeah. Mine, all mine.” The bed rattles like it’s going to come apart, thumping the wall while he curses and grunts.

I’m still crying, and I can’t figure out if it’s because I love him so much it hurts, out of relief that I’m still his, because I need to come so bad I’m going to fly apart, or because he’s confused and humiliated me. There’s a strange part of me that finds his fucking me all the hotter because of all those things.

I come hard, screaming as white lights dance across my vision. Gar roars and pounds into me a few more times, coming just as hard. As soon as he stops, he lays on the bed and pulls me into his arms. I’m sobbing like a baby, clutching his cut, and he’s cradling me.

“I’m sorry, Gar,” I whisper into his neck. “I didn’t trust you, You’ve done so much for me. You’ve never done a single thing to make me doubt your loyalty to me, and I ran off and almost got myself kidnapped. Maybe killed. I’m so, so sorry.”

He breathes a sigh into my hair. “Baby, we gotta work our communication skills. You gotta trust me. You have doubts, from now on, you ask me, all right?”

I nod, sniffling. “I will, I promise. I’m so sorry.”

“Shh.” He massages my back. “It’s over and done, and we don’t need to bring it up again.”

So that’s it. Just like that, he’s forgiven me. I’ve accused him of one of the worst things a person can do in a relationship, and he’s forgiven me. I nod mutely, burying my face in his neck.

“You’re safe, you’re with me, and I’m never letting you go. You understand me?”

“Yes,” I rasp. God, I love this man so much. His promise goes right to my soul, filling me to bursting.

He puts his face in my hair and inhales as if the scent calms him. “If I fucking lost you, it would kill me. I’d lose it.”

I moan my approval, and suddenly we’re kissing like it’s our last night together on Earth. A new ache starts licking between my legs and I feel his cock press into me.

“I’m going to fuck you again, Sandra.” He flips me over on my back.

“Yes…” I claw at his back. “Yes—”

“Uh, guuuuuys?” Badger’s slow, drawling shout drifts from downstairs. “We have a fucking problem.”

Gar leaps up from the bed, doing up his pants as he scrambles for the door. I hike up my own jeans and race after him. Several doors to other bedrooms open and I hear some of the other guys’ voices calling out.

Gar and I reach the stairs at the same time. Badger’s looking up at us, his face too pale.

  “What’s wrong, Badge?” Gar asks.

“Get down here, you gotta see this.”

By the time we’ve all raced downstairs, Badger is
sitting in the chair again with the computer open on his lap. The screen displays a number of video thumbnails. He keys up one of them and looks over his shoulder.

“Most of these videos are pretty heavy shit. Mostly, he’s recorded meetings where he’s blackmailed one person or another. He’s got something on nearly every high ranking official in Ohio. But this is the worst one.”

The video playing out on the screen shows a woman sleeping on a bed in the nude. Dressed in suit pants with his shirt off, Sinclair crawls onto the bed with her. He pulls his belt out of his pants and wraps it around her neck.

Ice floods my veins. I can just imagine where this is going.

He pulls the belt tight. The girl’s eyes fly open. He pulls it tighter.

My hand flies to my mouth. “Oh, God.”

Gar whips me around and buries my head in his chest. Near me, Anne swears and Vicious pulls her out of view of the screen.

“Badger, Jesus fucking Christ.” Gar flicks the video off and slaps the lid shut, but not before we hear the girl making choking sounds.

“Sorry.” Badger mumbles. “Yeah, you don’t need to see the rest of that.”

I can barely make myself look at the laptop until I hear him take the memory card out. “Does he… Did he…” I can’t even make myself say it.

“Does he kill her? Yes.” Badger’s face is twisted with disgust.

“It’s a snuff film,” Gar growls. I shake against Gar and he clutches me tight.

“Maybe it’s role play?” I swallow, not believing my own words.

“It’s not.” Badger shakes his head. “He had the guy filming the video check. She was dead. And it’s hard to tell from the video, but I’m fairly sure she was underage.”

“Shit.” I grip the back of Gar’s cut.

“I think I just threw up in my mouth,” Anne croaks.

“I’m gonna kill this fucker,” Gar snaps.

There’s not enough brain bleach in the world to unsee what I’ve just seen. It sickens me to think that, not only was I carrying that thing around in my purse, but that any of us girls who danced for him could have ended up on that video.

“Well, now we know why he was going through all this trouble to get that memory card back.” I look between Gar, Badger, and Vicious. “But what the hell do we do now? Take it to the cops?”

“No.” Gar squeezes my nape. “That’s not how we do things here, sweetheart.”

  “Well, then, what?”

“We handle things ourselves in this club.” He turns to Anne and Vicious. “First, you two get out of here. You have a plane to catch.”

“No way, we agreed that we’re not leaving until Sandra and her family are safe,” Vicious says. “Not until this asswipe is dead.”

Anne nods. “I’m not leaving Sandra alone.” She reaches out and takes my hand.

I squeeze back. “No, guys. Don’t put off your honeymoon for me.”

“She’s right,” Gar says when Vicious starts to argue. “Go. We’ll be fine here. Anne’s safer on a plane with you, Vicious. She’s safer away from here.”

A selfish part of me doesn’t want Anne to leave, but Gar is right. Considering what we have on Sinclair, anyone close to me is in danger. The thought makes my gut churn. I want her as far from here as possible.

Vicious claps Gar on the back, telling him he’ll check in with us when they get to the hotel in Cali.

Anne sighs and pulls me into a hug. “I guess that’s that. Stay safe.”

“I will.” I’m surprised my voice barely trembles. While we see Anne and Vicious off, Gar puts in a call to Grizzle and checks on my family. They’ve apparently just arrived home from the game. Grizzle and another club member, Crawler, are watching every move they make inside the house with none of my family being the wiser.

As Anne and Vicious leave, with Anne saying something about still catching their flight, I check my watch. It’s a little past six, a few minutes after Sinclair would have expected me to show up at the Rusty Stool. My stomach drops. When I remind Gar of this, he nods.

“We’ll take care of this. We’ll put extra security on your fam. Stick close to me, okay? Don’t leave my sight.”

I nod, leaning against him as we head back into the living room. Worry eats at my nerves. Worry for my mom and dad, for Kyle, for me, for Gar, anyone I now consider friends. It makes me feel a little better when Badger takes out his phone and calls Grizzle and Crawler.

I’m sitting down with Gar and Badger when my phone rings. I jump. When I pull it out, Gar grabs it and looks at the screen.

“It’s a private number,” he says.

Neither my parents nor Kyle would call me from one of those. It’s Sinclair.

Gar answers the call without saying a word. I can hear Sinclair on the other end.

“You grew too much of a brain, Blue. Where are you?”

“Where do you think she is, you fuck?” Gar snaps. He puts the phone on speaker and holds it out between him and Badger, who leans forward intently.

“So you’re the man she’s fucking. I’m guessing it’s your people watching her family like hawks. Enjoy her while you can. She’s going to be a corpse before the night is out.”

  Badger’s brows shoot up.

“Come near her, and I’ll put you at the bottom of Tanner Lake, you piece of shit.” Gar hangs up.

My hands are shaking, and when Gar sees them, he throws himself onto the couch beside me and yanks me into his arms. “Baby, this fucker is going down, I promise you that.”

“Gar…” I squeeze my eyes shut, clutching him. It’s clear to me now, Max Sinclair will stop at nothing to get those videos back and end my life.

“Shh. He won’t get near you. It’ll be all right.”

I believe he means it, but I can’t stop shaking. “God, I’m such a wimp. Some tough biker chick I make, huh?”

“Stop that.” He jerks my face up. “Being tough isn’t about never feeling fear. It’s about pushing past the fear. It’s about letting your man protect you, and trusting him to take care of what you can’t.”

I bury my face in his neck and draw strength from his warmth, from his closeness, from the dark promise in his words.

Badger has Barbie get me a drink of water, and she sits with her arm around me while the men launch into forming a plan for how to deal with Sinclair. I’m shocked when I hear what they’re planning to do, and that Gar doesn’t find some excuse to send me and Barbie off while they talk. Especially when I quickly realize that what they’re discussing definitely falls into the category of “Club Business,” the kind that requires capital letters.

Apparently, they’re going to wait until the strip club closes, then break into the Foxy Lady and look at the club’s surveillance to see if one of the cameras has caught whomever stole Sinclair’s wallet.

It bothers me a little that my first reaction isn’t to protest them breaking in, but rather another flaw in their plan.

“Wait.” I lean forward on the couch toward both men. “If one of the cameras caught whomever did it, the video file would be erased by now. It’s been almost a week.”

“It’ll still be there.” Gar envelopes my hand in his. “The owner and me are old…friends. He keeps the videos from the club for later use.”

“You mean to watch the girls.” I grit my teeth. “Somehow, I’m not surprised. He always gave me the creeps.”

The owner was a large reason why I hated that place, why it always left me feeling like my soul was being sucked out of me when I left every night. He never did anything to me, but the way he watched the girls always made my skin crawl.

“He is a creepy fuck,” Badger says. “But that’s not why he keeps them.”

“He keeps them for blackmail purposes,” Gar tells me when I glance at him. “Between all the shady deals that go on and all the creeps that go into that place, he’s got quite the little racket going there.”

“Figures. Is there anyone you guys know that isn’t a complete jerk?” />
Gar gives me a wry smile. “We have some friends in dirty places, yeah, but sometimes that’s what helps keep us in business. I’ll have Cal stay with you while we take care of this.”

I’m not about to argue this point. Aside from the fact that breaking into places and stealing surveillance videos isn’t exactly my forte, I’d rather poke myself in the eye with a fork than set foot in that place again.

While Gar puts in a call to Devil to update the Prez on their plan, my blood cools as I have a horrible image of Gar and Badger slinking into the Foxy Lady like ninjas in the dead of night, their faces covered in ski masks.

I sigh and put my arms around him with a nod. I love him, but what the hell have I gotten myself into here?

“Do they do this kind of stuff all the time, Barbie?” I ask her.

“Yep. You’ll get used to it.”

  “How?”

“You will. Actually, after a while, it’s kind of fun knowing you’re with a man who doesn’t care about the law. That him and his club have your back, and they’ll do whatever they have to do to keep you safe.”

Yeah, I think I’m finally starting to get it.

Hours later, a little after midnight, I see that I wasn’t far off in my imaginings. Gar finds me sitting on the couch with Barbie. My eyes go wide when I see him. He’s still wearing his cut, but everything else he wears is jet black, and he has a bandana pulled down to his chin, ready to be put over his face.

God. I’ve seen Hell’s Heathens members wear those things when passing through town on occasion. They usually have them pulled up so that they cover the lower half of their faces. I never thought that much about it, but I know why now. It’s to hide who they are when they commit a crime. He looks hot as hell, but…

Anne’s words ring through my head about his needing to know I support him and that I can handle it. I put on what I hope is a brave face and hug him tight with a kiss. His actions might constitute a crime, but they’re also what will keep me safe.

“I love you. Come back to me, okay?”

Gar pulls back with a smirk. I cover my mouth as I realize what I just said. Will such an emotional confession send him running?
